Hi Daniel, welcome to the S&L group.

Most recently Grossman, Reynolds, Meaney, Bakker, Brett, Weeks, Lawrence, Hamilton and Rothfuss have kept me entertained by the camp fire.
A special mention must be made for fallen comrades, Ian M Banks, you will be missed, taken too soon, remembered forever.
I like my swords heroic and my lasers operatic.
Looking forward to the conversation.
Hi Amber,(I hope it's okay to use that name, just so much shorter)welcome to the S&L group.

Some of my recent favorite authors (Not really in any order):
Terry Goodkind
George R.R. Martin
Patrick Rothfuss
Jim Butcher
RA Salvatore
Jack Campbell
Robert J. Sawyer
Recently been catching up on RA Savlatore, since the Sundering is sounding interesting. Looking forward to chatting with everyone!
Hi Lowkey, welcome to the S&L group.
Hi Jeff, welcome to the S&L group.

I'm a technologist and long time gamer and fantasy reader. Started with Feist, Jordan and Rosenberg and recently started on sci-fi: Jack Campbell, David Weber and Peter Hamilton. There so much out there to pick from S&L helps me choose.
Hi Orencio, welcome to the S&L group.

I'm Igor, I'm from Croatia and am currently enjoying the second episode of S&L on Youtube, being sad that there's only 45 videos, downloading the latest two S&L audio podcasts (interview with Jim Butcher, weeee!) aaand...
Yeah, I've been a fan for only like 45 minutes or less but y'know, really glad I clicked play on the YT video and looking forward to participating on the forum :)
Hi Igor, welcome to the S&L group.

Hi Oliver, welcome to the S&L group.

Hi Stacy, welcome to the S&L group.

I listen to the podcast all the time, though I have not seen the show pod cast.
I love reading , and carry at least two books with me at all times. Some of my favorite authors are John Green, Suzanne Collins, Cornelia Funke, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, Michael Scott, J.R.R. Tolkien,Darren Shan, and J.K. Rowling.
I love talking with people and most of all about books so I hope to be having some good dissensions and making new friends soon.
Hi Adom, welcome to the S&L group.

My name Is Kris. I'm 33yrs old and living in Columbus, Ohio. I've been an avid SciFi/Fantasy fan ever since my older sis got me Pawn of Prophecy by David Eddings for Christmas when I was 11. Since then I'm always looking for the next new story to dive into. Pleas feel free to recommend something. Currently I'm looking for something along the lines of Glen Cook or Steven Erikson. Darker gritty fantasy.
Hi Kris, welcome to the S&L group.

I've been listening to S & L for a few years and figured it was high time I signed up to follow the various discussions. Though sci-fi is my favorite, I read just about anything whether dead tree, electronic or audio. Guess that makes me an equal opportunity reader.
Hi Lyn,welcome to the S&L group.

I've been reading Fantasy and Sci Fi since I was a about 9. I started with David Eddings David Eddings and then went on to Anne McCafferyAnne McCaffery
I remember reading the Pern books when I about 10 and either not understanding the sexy bits or skipping them because they were boring.
My favourite authors now are Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett and Tolkien.
My reason for joining this group is because I thought it would be a good way to get exposed to new authors and have fun. Especially new Sci Fi as I haven't read nearly as much of that as I have the others.

I do prefer fantasy but there is some good sci-fi out there. I have recently been introduced to some really good books/authors from watching/listening to Sword and Laser. Thanks guys.

I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy books. I started as a kid reading Piers Anthony Xanth books. I love reading Stephen King, J.R. Tolkien and am looking for as many other authors as I can find. I am glad I found S&L. Now I can discover new books and new stories.
Hi Beth, welcome to the S&L group.
Hi Stopher, welcome to the S&L group.
Hi Coz,welcome to the S&L group.
Greetings and salutations!
I have been on a Fantasy - Sci-Fi terror for the last few years and decided that I needed to get a broader perspective. So here I am.

Hi Mark, welcome to the S&L group.
Hi BJ,welcome to the S&L group.
Hi Matt, welcome to the S&L group.

Hi Jacob, welcome to the S&L group.

Also, spent most of my life reading science fiction, but in the past few years have branched out into Fantasy, still huge gaps in my personal genre education, but I plow through as much as I can.
I do have soft spot for hard(ish) science fiction though, not sure that will ever change.
Hi Rusty, welcome to the S&L group.

I read more fantasy than science fiction, and my favourite series are His Dark Materials, A Song of Ice and Fire and The Lord of the Rings. I'm now making my way through The Dark Tower and Wheel of Time and enjoying them both immensely. I need to get stuck into more laser!
Hi Sean, welcome to the S&L group.
Hi Peter, welcome to the S&L group.

I've read mainly fantasy and scifi since very little. Movie-related books (E.T., Firefox) then happily finding the Tolkien world and some of Asimov thanks to a childhood friend and his Dad, both avid readers since then.
I like several authors, Robert Jordan, Dan Simmons, Tad Williams, Ursula K. Le Guin, Dave Duncan, Terry Pratchett, and newest authors that got me back into the book reading habit, like Pat Rothfuss and Brandon Sanderson. Thanks also to Kindle to make things much easier to find! I still like real books though.
'Coerced' back into video gaming to get a feel of the music they have (for a music production/composition gig). Not playing obsessively as compared to my Arcade years, I prefer RPG, puzzle and adventure games.
I found Sword & Laser while 'youtubing' for writer's interviews, it was a great find :D
I'm right now backtracking to start with the first podcasts. There are tons of them by now (translate that to hours of goodies waiting to be heard) and started watching the first couple of episodes at Geek & Sundry.
I look forward to the group's postings!
Cheers
Carlos F.
