Hmmm..I won't be getting my copy of
until November, and as it's the 11th book in the series...I sense a re-read self-challenge coming up! LOL! I want to sit down and read them through again, too!

I'm so put off by that cover. It's so horrible. I may pre-order that - I think the ebook version comes at the same time as the hardcover. But there will definitely be self-challenge to re-read all the books!
Hey, I don't much like it myself. That's a benny of eBooks though. I've gotten really bad. With this series I buy both the eBook and the PB. Don't tell on me. ;)
Usually, it's just the pb for me, though with
I got the hc as well as the pb, both with the awesome cover. LOLA Re-reading challenge like with Jaz Parks could be the way to go for 2012.
GR notifications are screwed up for a loong time, I tell you. I didn't get one for this thread. Steph, boons of epub - I can happily ignore the cover and read the book. Though, I can't remember the last cover I had such a negative reaction to.
I'm for the challenge - it might help with the 12x12 challenge that I'm sitting on.
Haven't met Cooper and Grace's characters yet. I'm reading Clay and Talin's book now. It's pretty good. i think it is difficult to follow after Judd and Brenna.
From Nalini's blog, she's talking about her flight to/from the RT Convention, Chicago -So 17-18 hours actual flight time. Add in the layovers and travel time to get to and from the airport, and we're talking well over twenty-four hours.
However, there is an upside to all the traveling. I've had Cooper and Grace's story in my head for a while now, and I wrote some scenes during the convention, but yesterday and today, while I was waiting for flights, and during the trip itself, I started working on it in earnest and did something like seventeen thousand words. It's all very rough, but I'm fairly certain this is going to be a courtship story - let's just say Coop's got some moves.
For those who don't remember / aren't up to it yet:Thanks to Jessica over on Nalini's fan group -
Cooper – Changeling
•first appearance in Play of Passion
•SnowDancer lieutenant
•one of the most lethal males in the pack
•stubborn and tenacious
•works with Jem and a team to take care of SnowDancer financial investments
•completely in love with an extremely sweet and submissive wolf
•considered mad, bad and dangerous
•rich dark bronze skin, jagged scar on his left cheek
•near black eyes
•mate of Grace
Grace – Changeling
•first appearance in Kiss of Snow
•SnowDancer changeling
•sweet, submissive wolf
•mate of Cooper

Steph wrote: "Very cool; thanks for sharing. And, every year the RT convention rolls around I get all teary b/c I can't go. :( How fun would that be?! A-ma-zing!"Well, the RT convention is one ocean and half a continent away from my place but on June 1st Nalini Singh, Larissa Ione, Lara Adrian, ... will be part of a convention in Berlin / Germany. Guess who is going to cross half a continent (well actually more like a quarter of a continent)to meet all these lovely ladies? You're right - it's yours truly. (Forgive me that rant but I had to share it with people who actually understand what I'm bragging about when I start: "I'm going to see ... )
WOOHOO! That's awesome! I'm so jealous! Germany is still hundreds of miles away from me (Japan) sadly. Oh well, maybe, eventually, I'll get to see these ladies in person. ENJOY! Be sure to share the deets when you return.
Lucky, lucky girl. So Jealous!!!As Steph said, please share all the gossip when you've seen them, and the rest of the convention too :)
I may be a little late with that update but I have to say this convention was awsome. It was my first ever and I had the bad feeling we started stalking Nalini Singh, Shannon McKenna, Lisa Marie Rice and Larissa Ione. All these authors were ever so kind towards us fans. The only problem was to get some new informations that are not already on the website. Nalini confirmed that there were to be 2-4 books in the Psy/Changeling series and then she is thinking about exploring new parts of this world - so not a spin off, but simply another take (the falcons, perhaps).
She didn't reveal the identity of the Ghost (shocking, isn't it?)
I asked her about Alice Eldridge (I had a feeling she was going to be the center of a book) but Nalini denied that.
In the Guild Hunter's series the book after "Storm" is about Elena and Raphael again!!
Great stalking Karin Elisabeth!!!!! Good to know Elena & Raphael are back soonish :)I thought Alice Eldridge might get a run too, so you're not alone.
Yay for you Karin! Thx for sharing.Anyone finish Tangle of Need yet? I'm sooooo confused with so many characters... If anyone has found a cheat list of Psy arrows and counsel members with good, bad, or which team are they on? They all begin with A or V, they are blending together. YIKES!
Lis, NS has a character list on her blog -http://wickedscribesnalinisingh.wordp...
Mightn't have everything you want, but its a start :)
WTG, Karin! I'm so jealous. I'm sure it was amazing to have the opportunity to see them in person. They all seem bigger than life to me - the rock stars of the book world. :DI haven't read it yet, Lis, but will shortly. Damn, but my favorite series new releases are all beginning (ha! right!) to pile up on me.
I was poking around Nalini's site and found this post, which totally confirms my thought that she MUST have some sort of (a) robot-brain (b) walls and walls of post-its or (c) book where she tracks all the ins/outs of the characters and plot throughout the series. It's so complex, I am always amazed with how well she keeps it all together. And, here's what she said:Fact 4: The VIP Folder, a.k.a. the Series Bible, refers to the folder I have full of stuff about the Psy/Changeling series. I need this because my world has certain rules that have to be followed, as well as a large cast of characters I need to get right. I didn't realize this when I wrote Slave to Sensation, but when I began Visions of Heat, it became obvious. I kept having to flick through StS to check things.
At the simplest level, the bible involves keeping physical descriptions of the characters. I need to know who has what color hair and eyes, their height and any defining characteristics - for example, Lucas's facial markings. (Not that I would ever forget those!)
This stops me making goofs or helps me pick them up when I do. For example in Slave to Sensation, Rina's hair color changed from blonde to brunette, a mistake I picked up during one of the final edits.
However that's not all I have. I have tree diagrams that show the links between characters, both in terms of blood or in terms of Pack/the PsyNet. And, because timing is important in my world, I also have a timeline with people's birthdates and other major events. Events change characters and I need to remember each event, each shift, each point of growth.
All this sounds very organized and technical, and to some extent, it is. I need the information easily accessible and simple. But I don't write the book constantly referring to it. I tend to write my drafts fairly loosely in terms of internal consistency, checking only major factors that might affect the plot. It's during the later edits that I go through and make sure the tiny details are right.
The bible is by no means complete, it's a work in progress - for example, when I write Hawke's story, I'm going to have to go through every book before his and note the passages where he's mentioned, because he's such a strong presence throughout the series - but it's very, very useful. I would recommend doing the extra work to any author writing a series. It will save you time a thousand times over. You might still make mistakes (we're only human after all) but a comprehensive bible helps lower the chances of that happening.

Actually that was one of the things Nalini said - her publisher is complaining that she has too many names starting with an "A". It's true - there are about 6 or 7 important or main characters whose names start with an "A" in the Psy/Changelings.
I also have problems with the pronunciation of the names; my German thinking brain-half tells me one sort and then I think that can't be true. There also seems to be a chance to google the pronunciation of names like Aodhan (see: yet another "A")
At the moment I'm reading and re-reading Tangle of Need. The problem I had - I wasn't really interested in Riaz and Adria. But that changed while reading the book - I was so sorry for both of them and the solution makes me happy. (Secretly of course I hope that everything will finally turn out excellent. I don't want to spoil anything, hence my dancing around:)What I also liked was all the time Nalini gave Hawke and Sienna (actually sometimes I got the feeling I was reading KoS II, not that I'm complaining)
I have a tendency to like the H/h more once I start reading their story vs. initial reaction as well, Karin. I'm such a H-whore. LOL! I always fall once I read their stories.Yay! KoSII?! I'm in! I still have Tangle waiting patiently for me to start. I need to have a lot of quiet time available when I start so I can really concentrate. Sadly that time is lacking. But, soon hopefully! Her Psy-C books seem to require more focus on the first go-round to make sure I don't miss anything important to the big picture.
Finished, liked it and I'm starting a re-listen already. I think her bible is partially keyword triggered. Adria "crushed berries on ice" ok, I get the scent reference (too much IF Adria, insert "cboi" here)... On the 2nd pass I'm trying for less ADD and distractions and focus on the main storyline, you really do need to concentrate. As the Psy politics and factions are heating up, you gotta pay attention. Can't wait to see where this next one goes. Remind me, do we know who the "ghost" is yet?
Thx Sandra, what a freaking long list of characters... Holy cow, I think it will help as soon as my eyes uncross.
Lis wrote: "Thx Sandra, what a freaking long list of characters... Holy cow, I think it will help as soon as my eyes uncross."LOL! So true!
You must be right re: the keyword ability on her bible. Gotta be!
No, we do not know who "ghost" is yet. (Right? Someone let me know if I'm wrong b/c I haven't read the most recent one yet.)
No way could we know who the Ghost is yet, cause the airways would be running hot. Or at least the NS fan group here on GR. LOL.I'm down for the library copy of Tangle asap, it's not available yet, whilst waiting for my MMP copy to come out later this year.
I keep thinking that Kaleb must be the ghost and then I keep thinking that it's too obvious and then I read an interview where Nalini says that readers have come across the Ghost, it's someone we know and then my eyes cross and I think: I'll find out when she's ready. (But I want to know now - really now!)
Thats what I keep thinking too KE. It's gotta be Kaleb or one of the Arrows!!Like you I wanna know now! I hate suspense. ROFL
Vasic as the Ghost is also a little obvious. I think it's Zaid, the first ever Arrow, someone important to Alice (the Ghost also handed her over to SnowDancer) and one of the first to become Silent as the developer's son.
Amy or "Ames" wrote: "Vasic as the Ghost is also a little obvious. Well, it's a puzzle that'll keep me guessing - or when re-reading the books looking for hints that Singh said were there (oh, but where?)
@Karin: No, Zaid's younger twin brothers Naeem and Tendajri committed suicide, according to the link in post #228.
Amy or "Ames" wrote: "@Karin: No, Zaid's younger twin brothers Naeem and Tendajri committed suicide, according to the link in post #228."Oh,my - I mixed them brothers up - thanks for clarifying. But then I have another question - how old would Zaid be by now - I mean at the end of ToN? Shouldn't he be well in his 140s? And that seems to be a little bit old even given the fact that everybody gets to be much older than we do? And how could he have hidden on the net for so many years?
I have the terrible feeling it will take us much longer than a year to find that out. :(
I know, I noted his age but his death is never mentioned, and Alice is technically of a similar age. She was put in stasis.
Maybe we can do a process of elimination with the Psy arrows? In ToN, Judd the stud is having a little chit chat with Vasic and Aden and Judd's states that something that's said validates something the "ghost" said to him earlier. So in that scenario, the two arrows he's talking to shouldn't be the ghost, right? Also a little question re: Lysettte the French liaison and (view spoiler) is she human, wolf, other?
Lis wrote: "Maybe we can do a process of elimination with the Psy arrows? In ToN, Judd the stud is having a little chit chat with Vasic and Aden and Judd's states that something that's said validates somethin..."She's human.
I like "Judd, the stud". And you're right -these two arrows should be "eliminated" - or should they?
Thx Karin, she wasn't all wolfie for him too and I wasn't sure why.If you've finished ToN, I have a "is it just me, or" spoiler question: (view spoiler)
