Sandra | 25908 comments The story arc is still going in #10 Kiss of Snow, so in every book more is revealed, things happen etc etc. The focus is just on a new couple.

And not every book is a Psy-Changeling pairing, or even a broken Psy.

Definitely keep reading CA, just persevere it will be worth it. Promise!

message 102: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments That's the way it will be with all PNRs (well, most, if not all), CA. Same setting/world, but each book will have a new couple featured and in the end they'll get their HEA (Happily Ever After).

Much different from UFs where the main character is the same throughout the books in the series with same and/or different side characters throughout.

Maybe PNR just isn't your thing? A lot of people prefer UF to it. Me, I like a mixture. Some series, I like to see the side characters get their HEA, especially those poor tortured heroes. LOL! ;)

message 103: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments Not sure about that yet, Steph. It was my first PNR and the book itself was great. I like the HEA part, but after having read some series now just one book feels so short... I wish there was more!

I'll have to go on and find out if I still like the series in long-term.

message 104: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Be sure to let us know. I think Psy-Changelings is the best PNR out there right now. Just my opinion though. Hope you continue to enjoy it.

Sandra | 25908 comments Kiss of Snow is in processing at BD. Yay!!!!!

message 106: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Grrrr.....I'm so debating buying it, but the hardback won't match all my paperbacks...

message 107: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I know, I'll probably crack & get the pb to match the rest too.

message 108: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited May 26, 2011 11:08PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments I cracked and bought the eBook for both KoS & MS! Hopefully hubby won't be around when my copy of both come in the mail. LOL! I couldn't resist! I must read them ASAP!

Now ... which to read first, that's the question!

message 109: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I'm about to crack and get the e-book of KoS...but do I put it on Kindle (a little more expensive) or download Nook android and get it there (cheaper....)? Fingers crossed on Mr. Deliveryman's timing!

message 110: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments LOL! I bought mine at Diesel (http://www.diesel-ebooks.com/), the ePub, so I can add it to any gadget I want and use Stanza vs. being limited to the Kindle app. I use it, but I don't prefer it.

KoS was $12.99 (cheaper than DTB) and MS was $7.99 (same as DTB). I'm sure they'll both be worth the $ I spent on both copies. ;)

message 111: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Well, the books posted from BD on 20/5 came today, so maybe MS posted 23/5 will come asap next week. Here's hoping anyway. LOL

KoS is still processing *frown*

message 112: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Hopefully you'll get them Monday/Tuesday. That'd be great! :)

message 113: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Oh! Definitely will go add that to my e-bookshop list! That's the same price as Nook, and I'd rather use it on something I already have!

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Nalini has been posting daily "kisses" in prep for the 31 May release of Kiss of Snow:
... in case you missed them ...

Q1: Indigo gave him an easy, dangerous smile. “I know all you have to do is snap your fingers and women throw themselves into your bed—” She held up a hand when he growled. “I’m not saying you use your position, but the fact that you’re alpha, the reason why you’re alpha—your strength, your speed, your sheer dominance, that’s potent stuff. Not to mention your pretty face.”

Q2: A faint smile that made every tiny hair on her body rise in quivering attention. "How fast can you run?" A wolf's question.

Q3: "Your pelt," a lazy voice drawled as he walked into the clearing around Lucas's home, "would make a nice coat for my mate."

Q4: "Wow, talk about alpha. Makes me want to say 'yes please, and again.'"

Q5: "Do it again," he whispered. "I want to watch."

Q6: "You can't go around biting me whenever you feel like it." It was very alpha male behavior, and he hardly needed any more encouragement.

Q7: Hawke stepped sideways to block her. "No."

Q8: Going down on his haunches, Vasic picked up a handful of sand, the silica catching the moonlight as it passed through his fingers. "Yes."

Q9: Lurching up, she grabbed the front of his T-shirt. "You will not touch any of my friends."

Q10: "Tomorrow." Leaning down, he nuzzled at her, only taking a small bite before rubbing his lips over the spot. "Time to go back."

Hubba Hubba! ;)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Wicked Scribes - Nalini Singh blog has a page dedicated to Nalini's Psy-Changeling characters.

One of the most complex, involved series is Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changelings. Three distinct races, and many, many characters. This is my attempt to keep track of who is who, and where they belong. Two of the strongest Changeling packs in North America are the DarkRiver Leopards, controlling the San Francisco area, and the SnowDancer Wolf Pack, in control of the rest of California. The icy and emotionless Psy are under the control of a powerful council of seven…seven beings with very different goals. And some of the humans, often thought to be the weakest of the three races, have decided to level the playing field.

You can view the page here . It has an event time line, a breakdown of the Packs (DarkRiver & SnowDancer), the Psy Council, as well as a detailed listing of characters seen in the series.

Still workin' on it. Stayed up until 1:15 a.m. to read, but had work to do today.
Now you have me worried...

I'll definitely be up for chatting once I'm done. I think I saw Judithe has finished it. Maybe she'll pop over and chat w/ya until we're done. :)

Vi | 943 comments I finished it yesterday too. I did a couple of scenes re-read as well. Did you like it Moss?

message 139: by Lisa M (last edited Jun 02, 2011 09:09PM) (new)

Lisa M (lamessegee) | 171 comments Done with Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling, #10) by Nalini Singh . I'm giving it 4 1/2 stars. Hawke can dance with me anytime!

message 140: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry, forgot I had snuck onto this thread.

Vi: I liked it (who could not like Hawke?), and I have to admit the tension between him and Sienna has been building to unbearable levels, so it was fantastic to see that resolved. I don't think I could have taken another book where they dance around on the periphery, it would have driven me insane! But I had a few problems with it on a few levels: her age, the general feel of Singh's HEAs, the sexy times. I don't want to be the party killer, because I know mostly people have enjoyed it here, but I'm interested to hear if anyone else felt anything was lacking.

message 141: by Lisa M (new)

Lisa M (lamessegee) | 171 comments Moss wrote: "I'm interested to hear if anyone else felt anything was lacking"

I did have a little trouble with Sienna's age, but I tried buying Singh's explanation that Sienna had been through so much for someone so young. (After all, Hawke became alpha at 15, which was even more unbelievable IMO.)
What is it that bothers you about the general feel of Singh's HEAs and "sexy times"? I'm interested in hearing your opinion.
Although I really liked the book, I have to admit that it wasn't what I expected from the reviews I'd read. I had to revise my preconceived notions of the story. I almost wish I hadn't read the reviews first.
But in the end, the bottom line is that it was Hawke! ;)

message 142: by [deleted user] (new)

But in the end, the bottom line is that it was Hawke! ;)

Yeah, I know, he gets me buzzing too hehe.

Ah it's probably just that I'm drifting away from PNR and more towards UF and so HEAs are not my thing anymore.

I was squeeing like a mad person as I read it, so I don't really have a leg to stand on here ;)

message 143: by Vi (new)

Vi | 943 comments Now that I've had some time to think about, I can safely say:

1. I liked that there was no love triangle here with Kit. It would have been irritating (for me).
2. The conflict with Theresa was resolved much too simply. I mean, for most of the books in the series, that has been given to be the main reason and somehow, the resolution here felt a bit flat.
3. I also liked the X-Psy thing was really serious and not built up to be serious and then suddenly becomes a super helpful/good thing to be/have.
4. Lastly, the whole war thing did take the focus off the romance between Hawke and Sienna which I think worked out for good.

And maybe it's just me but I got the impression that Hawke was not as averse to the mating with Sienna as (I imagined) he should be. But I did enjoy the book. Even did some re-reads of some parts!

Lisa M (lamessegee) | 171 comments Vi wrote: "Even did some re-reads of some parts!"

I would like to do some re-reads, but it's not easy to find the section you want on a Kindle unless you have a specific keyword. That's one of the few drawbacks I've found to the Kindle. :( (view spoiler)

I have a Sony Reader and I have this ability to bookmark. Which I did. Many times. I find Kindle to suck at the organization too. Sony is loads better at that. (Not to go into Kindle Vs Sony Debate)

I can bookmark on the Kindle, too. And highlight. I just didn't think to do it the first time through. In the end, I searched on a word I remembered from the scene and found what I wanted to re-read.
Not to get into e-reader debates, but I like the organization on the Kindle better than on my Nook Color.
Now, back to our regularly scheduled discussion of Kiss of Snow... ;)

Steph (angel4492) | 32697 comments Yay, I can finally comment on KoS. Now, if GR will cooperate with me, I'll be a happy camper.
FYI - this post is all jacked up, but at least it's here. LOL!

First, let me say, I rated the book 5★, but not for the reason(s) I thought I would before reading it. I agree about reading reviews (the non-spoilery ones were all I read) before reading the book.

Reasons for my 5★ rating (since I haven't written a review yet, I'll just list them here) (view spoiler)

I completely agree with Lisa's comments: "I did have a little trouble with Sienna's age, but I tried buying Singh's explanation that Sienna had been through so much for someone so young. (After all, Hawke became alpha at 15, which was even more unbelievable IMO.)" If not for Hawke's wolf helping him, I'd have found his being such a young alpha hard(er) to believe too. But, throughout the series, she's had characters make reference to knowing which youngsters (like Kit) were going to an alpha.

Vi said "I liked that there was no love triangle here with Kit. It would have been irritating (for me)." I agree. I'm definitely not a fan of triangles, but (view spoiler)
