Yes that will work and I will fix the book as well to reflect that it was originally published then.

Yep that will work! The one on the left is for sure smiling. Even if the one in the front is hard to tell.

Nicki (luluminstrel) | 279 comments Hurrah for the ladies of Cranford! Thank you :) (And hurrah for Dame Judi - one of our great British treasures ;)

Caity (adivineeternity) Here's the one I'm reading for this task:

The Ditchdigger's Daughters A Black Family's Astonishing Success Story by Yvonne S. Thornton

It's impossible to see in such a tiny picture, but I promise there are four people clearly smiling on the cover of it. It has really good ratings on GR, too. My mom read it in about two days, and it normally takes her weeks to read even a shorter book like this one.

There's a great TV version of North and South too. The Beeb does costume drama so well!

In fact.... I guess I could read that for other half of the task - an Elizabeth Gaskell fest!

Tami | 296 comments off my TBR list - would these work? A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer or Heist Society by Ally Carter (definitely a smirk)

message 62: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 8991 comments I think i'm doing Austen for the other half...she was definately born before I was ;)

Sorry I could have sworn I responded to yours earlier. Oh yeah it had a problem saving it. But Heist Society by Ally Carter has already been approved, but I don't think that is really a smile in A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer

I love dogs so of course he is adorable. I had three 'til we finally had to put one down this past weekend after 19 years. (Since I am only 23, he was pretty much my baby.)

Truly Madly Yours by Rachel Gibson

message 81: by Ashley FL (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 815 comments Ashley FL wrote: "How about (for B):

Yes that works the picture on GR isn't very good but I found a better one on Google images

message 83: by Ashley FL (new)

Ashley FL | 721 comments Thanks! It looks really cute! I got Rachel Gibson on my literature map and I had never heard of her. Lo and behold, when I went to the library, I ended up with FOUR books of hers that I really want to read -- that Literature Map is a smart cookie ;)

Sadly for this task, most of her books suffer from "missing head cover syndrome" (what's up with that being so popular right now?).

message 84: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 815 comments Haha that seems to be my own problem as well. And just so everyone knows I am also having a hard time finding books with people smiling on the cover myself especially ones that I want to read. :) Oh well I will find something. Maybe in one of the series I am trying to fit in.

message 85: by Ashley FL (new)

I've heard good things about theme, I read Match Me If You Can for a challenge, it took me a while to get into, but once I did, it was a fun ride.

I will take Volume 2 and volume 11, but the others just look too straight to me.

Considering she looks like a drawing of a "person". However the wings and wand indicate that she is a fairy/fairy godmother of some sort so sorry I am going to have to say no.

Edit: it could be very likely that a moderator could overrule me on this.
