Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments I've grown to like him more over the past season(s). He never "fit" with Rosita, IMO either.

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Is anyone still watching TWD shows? Old, new, both? I'm behind on Fear, haven't started the other spin-off and only recently watched the final 1/2 of the last season. I'm glad it's ending soon. I'll still watch, been watchin' this long can't stop now, but I'm just not happy with where they've taken the series over the past several (+) seasons.

For those interested, here are a few articles about new/returning shows: (not sure of spoilers, so read at your own risk)

hIpnoticraQs (raqnbelly) | 46 comments I watched season 9 and one episode of the spinoff with the teenagers. I'll get caught up.

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 376 comments Hmm, I'm caught up with the original and as there is only one season left I might as well finish even though (view spoiler)

I've got half a season of Fear still to watch and I watched the first ep of the new one and haven't watched any since.

message 605: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Yep! 😝

message 606: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments I've only watched a couple of episodes of the 2nd half of the last TWD season. My daughter got married and I was too busy doing wedding stuff. I need to track them down, but I'm tired of it. I will miss discussing it with all of you more than I will miss watching the show. And I've never gotten into Fear.

message 607: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Congrats to your daughter, Marla! Wishing them many happy years!

Gonna miss the chats too. 😁

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 376 comments Thanks Steph. Am not in the least bit interested in watching them though!

Am surprised that they haven't included Negan as well TBH.

message 610: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Welcome. I can’t decide if I’ll watch or not.

message 611: by hIpnoticraQs (new)

hIpnoticraQs (raqnbelly) | 46 comments There's not much else to watch. I'll give it a chance

message 612: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments 😊 you’ll have to stop back and let us know how it is, if ya do

message 613: by hIpnoticraQs (new)

hIpnoticraQs (raqnbelly) | 46 comments Will do

message 614: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments Well, Carol & Daryl are two of my favorite characters, so I might have to try it and see. Can we resurrect Glenn? Cuz that would make it perfect if only we can find another character who can wield Michonne's katana!!

message 615: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments LOL! I wish! Poor Glenn!

Yeah, I probably won't be able to resist at least giving Ep1 a looksee. 😝

message 616: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments I have not watched TWD since Covid started...probably cuz real life was scary enough. I have all the episodes saved on the DVR, but I just thought about watching them this week. I will check back with comments.

message 617: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Hiya, Marla! We've caught up, but only just recently, and are actually thankful the series is ending. Of course they're splitting it into 3 parts 🙄 Some of the storylines just got so frustrating for us, but we're in it until the end, at this point. The main TWD show anyway. I'm not looking forward to catching up on Fear. We're way behind on that one - a whole season, at least. I just really don't like the Victor Strand character and every time he's in a clip in a commercial I'm reminded why I haven't had any interest returning to that spin-off. And, we've never started the World Beyond spin-off, so no idea if we'll eventually watch that one or not. UGH. I'm kinda ready to put TWDU in my rearview, TBH.

message 618: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments I totally agree, Steph! But I will miss you so much!!

I want to finish watching TWD but hubby is no longer interested. And it's one of those series that you can't not pay attention when you're watching, so I can't let it play while I'm doing other things. Maybe folding laundry...

I only watched a few episodes of FWD and didn't like it as much as TWD characters, so I am ready to be done too.

But again, I will miss chatting with you...where else do you chat on a regular (or like this discussion occasional basis).

message 619: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Same, girlie! It's been a lot of fun ranting and raving about TWDU over the years.

My hubby has been watching for the same reason as me, but he'd probably have no problem letting it go early if I said I was done before the end. We both bitch and bemoan the time of great storylines.

Me too. I bounce around here, different book chats, but TV wise this was my more active by far. I'm a big couch potato, so if there's another show you'd like to chat about, just throw out some names and I'm sure we'll find another match. I'm happy to chat whenever about whatever :)

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 376 comments I'm waaay behind on both. I only finished the previous season of Fear last month and have not yet started the current season or 11 of TWD, I reaaaly lost interest once Michonne left her kids (🙄🙄🙄). I will watch both eventually, but am in no particular hurry. Still holding out for those Rick movies...

I actually really enjoy Victor Strand as a character that I love to hate.

Have you guys heard that they are planning yet another spin off with Maggie and... Negan🤑🤢🤑!

message 621: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments @ Steph ~ I don't really watch any shows. I love Criminal Minds, but I didn't watch the complete last 3 seasons.

I do want to watch Outlander. When I started to watch it before, every time my husband walked through the room, someone was having sex. And he'd say, what are you watching?! Lol

I have been toying with the idea of rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I think I'd rather read than watch a show.

What do you think?

@ kittykat AKA Jo Tortitude ~ I love to hate Negan, but I'm tired of him already. I was never a huge fan of Maggie, so not sure about that spin off. The only one I have the slightest interest in is Carol and Daryl and I'm not sure I even care about them anymore.

LOL, I was over Negan before he even appeared onscreen, and was over C&D SEASONS ago! Always was a Maggie fan, so everything in total opposite to you 🤣.

Currently really enjoying The Gilded Age, can't wait for Bridgerton S2 in a couple of days, that's about all I'm interested in immediately.

message 623: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments Oh, I like the Bridgerton books, maybe I should check that out.

message 624: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments I don't know about all these spin-offs. No Rick movies, still. Not holding my breath, for them airing or that I'll have any interest if they do. We'll see.

I watch a bunch of TV. Some I could definitely chat about ... Evil, Bridgerton, Servant and From. I'm sure there are others, too.

Another spin-off? Sheesh. I might check it out. I'm kinda over TWD and anxious for the main series to wrap up this fall.

message 629: by Angie ☯ (new)

Angie ☯ | 624 comments I was ready for it to wrap up too! I think there are actually 2 spinoffs, but this one with Maggie and Negan....I will probably have to at least check out!

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 376 comments LOL. They really have done this franchise to death.

As for Negan... they still haven't killed him off??? And I'm expected to believe that him and Maggie go off on their own? No thanks.

I finished season 10 and haven't watched anything else since not sure if I'll bother with 11, but will watch the Rick/Michonne limited when it hits. I knew the Rick movies weren't going to happen, but I'm really glad that we'll get to know what happened to him and see him reunite with his family (again).

message 631: by Marla (last edited Jul 28, 2022 06:32PM) (new)

Marla | 261 comments I still have the last season of TWD on my DVR and haven't watched it. I just haven't felt like watching it.

I could see Maggie hunting Negan and working on revenge, but together or allies. Hmmm. Tough sell.

It would be interesting to see what happened to Rick and see him reunited with Michonne and the kids.

They have sure gotten their money's worth from this series and all the spin offs.

message 632: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Oh yeah, they've been wringing every cent outta the franchise as possible, that's for sure.

S11 addresses more with Maggie & Negan. We've watched parts 1-2 and are only anxiously awaiting part 3, so we can be done with it all. I've never watched World Beyond and don't have any desire to return to Fear, stopped at S05.

Spotted this article yesterday:
The Walking Dead Preview Special Will Tease Rick and Michonne Series (https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/t...)

AMC has announced the guests who will reveal intel on The Walking Dead spinoff shows live on Talking Dead. The network will air an hour-long special titled The Walking Dead Universe Preview to tease the new spinoffs in the expanding universe around The Walking Dead, including the just-announced series reuniting Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). Airing Sunday, August 7, ahead of the series premiere of Tales of the Walking Dead (which arrives on August 14), Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick will welcome actors and creators from across AMC's TWD Universe for a special preview of the shows airing this year and beyond.

[...]

They include Tales of the Walking Dead, an episodic anthology developed by Gimple; Isle of the Dead, which sees rivals Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) travel together into post-apocalyptic Manhattan; the Europe-set solo series focused on Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus); and Lincoln and Gurira's as-yet-untitled Rick and Michonne series that replaces the Walking Dead movie trilogy.

[...]

The network has stated that Isle of the Dead and the untitled Daryl and Rick/Michonne series will premiere in 2023, but release dates remain TBA. Tales of the Walking Dead premieres August 14, followed by The Walking Dead: The Last Episodes October 2 on AMC.

I'm sooooo ready to put TWD to bed.

message 639: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments Sadly, Steph, when I didn't watch last year, I haven't had any desire to watch the episodes I DVR'ed last year.

How are you liking the ending thus far?

message 640: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments We've got a whole 1/2 of Fear on the DVR and I've got no interest in starting it. 😝

"Liking" would be an overstatement. We watched the first two parts just to get it done. I'm not happy with how the season is going and now I'm even more disappointed (how's that even possible at this point?!) b/c they've announced the spin-offs. So, now we all know who won't die; as sad as it was in the earlier seasons to lose fan-faves knowing who won't die is kinda worse, IMO.

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 376 comments I will watch, but only when it's done. I've not yet gotten past season 10 and still have the last season of Fear to watch... obviously it's a 'one day' with these shows now!

message 642: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Makes sense. I'm sure we'll eventually finish Fear, but feeling no rush.

message 643: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments @ Kitty ~ I am seriously thinking about just deleting all the episodes off the DVR and calling it over for me. TWD was never something that I wanted to binge, but I could understand waiting until it is over so you can watch at your own speed.

@ Steph ~ Oh, so true. Knowing who doesn't die would be worse! I don't feel like I'm invested with most of the remaining and new characters as of when I stopped watching. But that's kind of why I guess I lost interest.

message 644: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments LOL! I'm thinking the same re: our DVR'd Fears.

The worse! WTH, Gimple! Nothing they've chosen to do with the show has made sense for a while now. Sad considering how it was once a must-watch-as-it-airs show for us.

message 645: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments It is sad. And I will miss you all!

message 646: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Oct 08, 2022 01:48PM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments Us us or TWD all? 😔 Same, but I'm sure we can find another show to chatter about, no? 🤔

message 647: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments You all! Lol. I do wish we could find something to chat about!

kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude | 376 comments Marla wrote: "@ Kitty ~ I am seriously thinking about just deleting all the episodes off the DVR and calling it over for me. TWD was never something that I wanted to binge, but I could understand waiting until i..."

When I first watched it, it was by binging seasons 1-7 (about ep 3 or 4 I think) because I wasn't expecting to like it (not a fan of zombies generally) but had heard so much that I needed to try and FELL IN LOVE! The characters and what they went through just really called to me, and being a Brit and knowing Andy Lincoln from his earlier works (This Life and Teachers in particular) I was blown away by how so very different he was as Rick.

And even though I'm in no hurry to watch what is left, I will probably binge that when I get round to it, it's the only way I watch TV now.

Steph wrote: "Us us or TWD all? 😔 Same, but I'm sure we can find another show to chatter about, no? 🤔"

Marla wrote: "You all! Lol. I do wish we could find something to chat about!"

Awwwww.

I haven't watched anything else that I have enough to chat about - I rarely watch TV now!

message 649: by Marla (new)

Marla | 261 comments kittykat AKA Ms. Tortitude wrote: " ...I haven't watched anything else that I have enough to chat about - I rarely watch TV now!"

Me too. I rarely watch current TV shows. I am currently trying to finish watching Criminal Minds, but I've even gotten tired of that series. And it was my favorite show for years. I used to love Medium, but I've never seen the last season or two because I didn't have a DVR back then. So I am re-watching the whole show. And I just started watching Bridgertons. And I finished re-watching Monk earlier this year.

I have DVR'ed the first few episodes of the new Quantum Leap show. I used to like that show back with Scott Bakula in it. But haven't watched any yet. I also have the first season of Clarice on my DVR and the first few seasons of The Closer.

I know, pretty diverse selection of shows.

message 650: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32734 comments All good ones. We were really looking forward to the Quantum Leap reboot, but hubby wasn't feelin' it when we checked out Ep1, so haven't seen it all.

I've seen both Bridgertons, all of Medium, The Closer (AH, another SOSer, is a big fan of that series). Hubby watches reruns of Monk, I could take them or leave them despite totally relating (though I'm nowhere near as bad) to his OCDness.

Are you watching or gonna watch Lord of the Rings: Ring of Power, House of Dragons or Interview with the Vampire?
