The word is SOP. Lets get started!

You use the first letter of a book you have read in August (A, an, the.. you can leave out). Or you can use the first letter of the Authors name or Surname.

Good luck everyone!

Lauren Smith Oh crap, I forgot I was planning to read The End of Mr Y! I've started reading a Salman Rushdie novel. Decisions, decisions...

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh whoop first time I've done something in the word of the month hehe

Any suggestions for O???
Lauren? Lu?

message 11: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Hmm, I think you might like Octavia Butler, she's a great storyteller. Kindred or Fledgling (which is about a vampire).

There's also Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. Another one of my favourites, but it's over 400 pages, not sure if you mind a long-ish read?

Otherwise, why not go through the novels of your favourite authors and see if there's an 'O' title among them?

Lauren Smith I took a quick look at your to-read list as well Niecole - there are a few 'O' titles there:

I see you also marked Animal Farm by George Orwell to read - it's very good (and nice and short).

Thanks Lauren and Lu...
I was actually looking for a copy of Oryx and Crake this weekend, I know you told me its a good read...
I might do Animal Farm, I think I have a copy... :)

message 17: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Hmm, come to think of it, I'm not sure if you'll like Oryx and Crake, but you can always just get the free e-book and give it a try :)

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe I should do that :)

That was book actually a bit disappointing. The overall story had such great potential, but the way it was written just let it down. It felt like every time the story was reaching a good point, the author would just stop and follow a different thread. More than once I thought "but why not elaborate, why go THERE now". But that's just me. =)
There's a "free" ebook out there, and I'd recommend you read a couple of chapters first before buying.
