Hmm, I think you might like Octavia Butler, she's a great storyteller. Kindred or Fledgling (which is about a vampire).

There's also Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. Another one of my favourites, but it's over 400 pages, not sure if you mind a long-ish read?

Otherwise, why not go through the novels of your favourite authors and see if there's an 'O' title among them?

It felt like every time the story was reaching a good point, the author would just stop and follow a different thread. More than once I thought "but why not elaborate, why go THERE now". But that's just me. =)
There's a "free" ebook out there, and I'd recommend you read a couple of chapters first before buying.
