20.6 LDB’s Task (Seasoned Reader) - Seeing Yourself in a Title
Read a book whose title includes all of the letters of your first, middle OR last name. Including sub-titles is fine, letters cannot be counted twice (i.e., if you have two of a certain letter in your name, the title must also have two of that letter), nick-names or shortened names are not accepted, and the letters in the title do not have to be in any particular order.

For example, my name is "Laura" so I could read "The G U e R nsey L iter A ry A nd Potato Peel Pie Society," "The Book of LAU ghte R A nd Forgetting," etc.

If you have questions about a name you want to use, please go to the help thread to get it approved.

REQUIRED: When posting your task, please include the name that you used for the task. If you do not wish to post your real name, you can use an anagram of the name in your post.

Kate (kathrynlouwca) | 1002 comments Wow, this is interesting... I have the fact that my name has weird letters... Y in first name, F in middle name and a W in the last... oh, well. It will be fun to see what everyone can make happen!

for "w" - any book with what, when, where, why, how............ And "f" - anything with the word "of", so that might open up some options.

Cait (caitertot) | 648 comments Two of the books I had already slotted for other tasks work for this one:
The Children's Hospital by Chris Adrian, and
Set This House in Order: A Romance of Souls by Matt Ruff. <---- that was so hard to type! :oD I just have to do a little book shuffling, then I'm good to go.

message 8: by Leigh Ann (new)

Leigh Ann (leighannflyingonsilverwings) I'm lucky with the middle name ANN! This will be like a treasure hunt!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3041 comments do the letters have to be in the same order as the letters in your name?

Vicky (librovert) | 240 comments Do you have a preference as to whether we use our full first name or a nickname?

Also, I wanted to check on the subtitle for A Lion Among Men: Volume Three in the Wicked Years. The link is the edition that I own, but most of the editions do not include the subtitle.

Cait, I recommend Set This House In Order. I really enjoyed it.

Would this one work for me or would it have to actually be spelled out in the tittle.

Cindy AL (cangelmd) | 645 comments I have a "Y" also, I struck paydirt with the word dying.

message 16: by Kate (new)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) | 1002 comments Okay, I just moved and most of my books are in storage. The ones I have out don't fit this task. Anyone able to think of anything for: K A T H R Y N F R A N C E S L O U W? I was able to find some "w" but none with the U in it as well. Good task, though!

message 17: by Diane (new)

Diane | 741 comments Love this! Found a ton of stuff with my first name in it!

message 18: by Brooke (new)

Brooke (brookeonbooks) May we include subtitles? For example, my middle name is Leigh, so would The Island At The Centre Of The World work? The full title of this book is: The Island at the Center of the World: The Epic Story of Dutch Manhattan and the Forgotten Colony That Shaped America.

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 1114 comments Kathryn: first, middle OR last name!! I think I'd go for Frances... I had a lot of titles with "of" and "for"...

So glad Sara is short and sweet... and without extra silent letters...! I've got a lot of options!

Ashley FL | 721 comments My last name has three letters and two are vowels -- this seems like cheating :) So I will probably use my first name, just to be sporting!

Laura | 102 comments Jayme(the ghost reader) wrote: "do the letters have to be in the same order as the letters in your name?"

No, the letters in the title do not have to be in the same order as the letters in your name. As long as there are all of the same letters (and in the same quantities) of your name in the title, you are good to go!

Subtitles are fine. I see no problems with using this subtitle.

Laura | 102 comments Bridgit wrote: "What would the verdict be on using the i's in World War II be? I want to do Rag and Bone: A Billy Boyle World War II Mystery but need 2 I's."

The "II" in World War II are roman numerals and not actually letters. So, they will not work as "i"s. Sorry. One book that might work for you if you haven't already read it yet: The Effect of Living Backwards. Also, don't forget you can use your middle or last name if you choose.

Laura | 102 comments Rhiannon wrote: "Rhiannon by Evangelynn Stratton

That works. All of the letters in your name are in this title - and you just happen to be one of the lucky few where your name and title are actually the same!

As Sara noted, you don't have to use all three names - you can choose your first, middle OR last name. In looking at your first name, one book I came up with is City of Darkness, City of Light by Marge Piercy. Another is The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane. For Louw - All Quiet on the Western Front. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I knew it didn't have to be all three names. I just have difficult names. Ironically, it has been easy to get the "f" and hard to get the "s" in the same title. Thank you for the suggestions! I will look into those books!

Another one that works for JELENA, if you haven't already read it (and it is a bit hefty) is [book:Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell

MEGHAN: Of Human Bondage, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell
MARIE: American Psycho, Shalimar the Clown: A Novel, Interpreter of Maladies, The Talented Mr. Ripley
MENO: Atonement, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Love in the Time of Cholera

Petra, I've been wanting to read it for quite some time now. I was going to use it for the Lit Map task, but I think I'll switch it to this one and read I'm Not Stiller for the Lit Map.
