Yes if you don't it recycles and comes back on all your clean stuff.

In that case I'm going to start supervising that lint collector in case it's not getting the attention it needs !
Sally wrote: "If you don't your house burns down."No no no. That's just the dryer lint. I've done that. The washing machine lint won't burn down your house.
Where the hell does the washing machine lint collect? I'm 33 years old and this is the first I'm hearing of it EVER!!

The trap or filter is in different places depending on the model.

Washing machine lint traps. The world and how it works is a never ending mystery. Just when I think I got some shit all figured out, I realize there is so, so much more to learn.
Barb wrote: "I had no idea my washing machine had a lint collecter ... other than crud settling in the fabric softener well."My lint collector is not a deluxe model its just this little mesh bag that hangs off the inside of the wash bowl bit. I don't think I have a fabric softener well or if I do it's hiding out.
Who would have thought that there was a lint collecter in a washing machine. I always assumed it drained out with the water.
i am a lint sheriff. i do a good percentage of the laundry around here and i check the lint trap every time i walk into the laundry room. if someone else has been doing laundry and not checking the trap i ALWAYS rip the thick felt of lint out of the trap and say 'YOU COULD MAKE A SWEATER OUT OF THIS". every time
GR is where I first learned out of the dishwasher food trap as well. Horrific day in 2008 that was.

Just trying to figure out if you were checking the dryer trap or the washer trap.

Shit.

My washer was used when I got it in 1994. Clean the lint trap once a week, they say, to prolong the life. That friggin thing will outlast us all if I start now!
Lobstergirl wrote: "I think there is a place at the bottom of my hall closet where bad smells go to die."Do you have a cat?
Carol wrote: "My washer was used when I got it in 1994. Clean the lint trap once a week, they say, to prolong the life. That friggin thing will outlast us all if I start now!"Wow you either have very little lint or your lint trap is pretty darn big
Speaking of things that will outlast us .. I have an alarm clock/radio that I won in 1986.It is still doing it's thing every morning.
Sally wrote: "GR is where I first learned out of the dishwasher food trap as well. Horrific day in 2008 that was."Oh dear god, I was also unaware of this. Our dishwasher is from the 80's, has seen multiple tenants come and go and I have no idea if and when it has ever been cleaned in any way. Now I don't know if I even want to know.
Cynthia wrote: "I've had my Mr. Cynthia since 1980 and he's still...well, never mind. TMI."You know what they say about a good man

Appliances and such were built to last back then .
Holy Smokes! A washer lint trap! Now, where did I put that manual . . .It bugs me that bills from the hospital only announce the amount due - not an itemized bill. I have to spend my time calling three or four times to get one, and I've found mistakes several times.
Sally wrote: "GR is where I first learned out of the dishwasher food trap as well. Horrific day in 2008 that was."THE FUCKING WHAT?!?!
Catherine wrote: "I'm irritated that I have to get down on all fours, stuff a towel under my washing machine and access the lint trap on the bottom panel. I still have my father's olive rotary phone that hung on ..."
That's more than irritating
Kyle wrote: "It bugs me when I wash dark clothes, only to discover that I, or someone else, has left a kleenex in the pocket of one of the items of clothing, causing flecks of white to cover everything."Yeah that's the pits . When my girl was in Year 1 I saw a kid in her class roll up for school in her all black school uniform covered in bits of tissue.

I didn't know there were dryers in the sixties . My M&D still had one of those washing machines with a wringer on it . Mum squashed her fingers in it one time . We also had this big boiler thing called a copper where she would boil all the white clothes . Dad was a pastry cook so he wore white cooks gear.
Lobstergirl wrote: "I think there is a place at the bottom of my hall closet where bad smells go to die."It's bugging me (and I know it shouldn't) I need more info about the mystery smell in LG's closet.
I acually haven't had a working dryer at my house since last September/October. We use the clothesline mainly.
I ADORE my clothesline. I am very bothered by housing developments that do not allow clotheslines. Stupid.
I have good friends who hang clothes on the line in cold weather, kind of a freeze drying process. Both of my grandmothers (Inez and Zelda) did this as well. You bring frozen clothes inside to thaw/finish drying.I am of less sturdy stock and use the dryer in the winter, except for blankets and small rugs and stinky blue jeans (smell like gas, motor oil, etc.) Stinky work clothes must be dried on the line, as they can wreak havoc with the dryer. Been there, done that.
I completely love freeze drying my clothes. As long as the sun is out and my diapers get bleached a bit I love it.
