Gross. Make those nasty pictures go away!
Re: communication styles.
I tend to be rather direct. I don't use emoticons. I don't generally add LOL to every statement (lol!). I don't feel the need to cushion what I say with things that make it gentler. But I hope that we can welcome everyone into TC regardless of their communication style, unless they are being outright rude or awful. Erstwhile TC member Ken, it seems to me, was hounded and bullied out of TC because people didn't like the length of his posts. In losing Ken, we lost an intelligent, thoughtful commenter.
So please, let's not make everyone adhere to whatever style of communication we ourselves would personally espouse.

What the hell? I'm not trying to make anyone feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. I just don't have an opinion on public bathrooms! Jeeeesus!
Sally wrote: "What the hell? I'm not trying to make anyone feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. I just don't have an opinion on public bathrooms! Jeeeesus!"I don't think it's even about that anymore.
::attempting not to look at the elephant in the room::Tinny christmas carols in every shop every where you go! (...duly bugged)
He was that really smart and funny guy who could articulate his political views exceptionally well. I recall his getting quite exasperated with Arminius about various things.I don't believe there was any hounding. Perhaps LG can find some threads in support of her theory Kenhoundoutism.
Heh. That sounds familiar. But I liked Barb's point.
There are people who act like this is a tupperware party for assholes and I do enjoy hounding them out. I admit it. I can be the mean one.
But Ken, if he left, did so of his own volition. I've left before. But I came back and behaved better and now it is more fun here.

I don't think any of it is worth losing sleep over. If I may be so bold as to end with a preposition.
It isn't a preposition in that case. It is the object of the transitive verb "losing" because it should be hyphenated with sleep.
Not really. But that's how I'd BS it if given the chance.

I thought ken was a blowhard, pedantic baby who found any disagreement with him to be evidence of the darkest evil. He was disrespectful and insulting. In short, he was an asshole and one of the factors involved in my taking a break. So I ignored him. I like to picture him stomping off in a tantrum, but maybe he just found a board more suited to his style.
Huh. Amazing how I barely noticed him. Sorry, RA, that I let someone make you feel like that here. I would have been meaner.
I would also challenge anyone to go back to those epic arguments between ken and me. He was not mistreated. Mocked about post length, maybe, but if he can't handle that he's sure in the wrong place. I put bloody pics of my feet up for mockery, for Christ's sake. If he's that thin-skinned he should take his ball and go home.Ok, once I think I called him the liberal equivalent of right wing talk radio. That wasn't very nice.
(To right wing talk radio.)
No, this was a ken/me thing. We didn't mix well. So I steered clear. I don't expect every person in a 1200 member group to mesh with me. No sweat. Other people liked him. He chose to leave, don't know why.

I'll be standing behind the ficus being invisible.
Barb wrote: "People having hissy fits because they don't like the way people respond to their posts does not equal being chased away and made to feel unwelcome."agree... if you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.. he must have went for a walk :)
and RA, I will fight you for Clark

Loookee! I misappropriated Bun!

Lets talk about how funny I was in 1265. Unless Cheri has sensitive feelings about her spelling disability.
Heh. I don't mean to scare anyone. This is one of the few posts of this nature over the years. And hey, if Ken had stayed, fine, I just would steer clear of him. That wouldn't be hard. He mostly went in the political threads.
Also, 1) If Ken argued the same way but his views were conservative, I wonder if people would perceive him differently, and,
2) Fine, Clark. You wouldn't put out anyway. Tease.

What did I do now? I'll have to look back at all the messages....I checked them.
I'm not 100 percent sure, but I believe that Lobstergirl may be "standing up" for me and other people on this site. If you are, Thank You! I do still plan to stick around though. And not to play favorites but I enjoy reading Lobstergirl's posts.
Barb wrote: "People having hissy fits because they don't like the way people respond to their posts does not equal being chased away and made to feel unwelcome."Who had a "hissy fit"?
Kyle wrote: "I had a "hussy" fit, but that's just me.:D"I hope that :D means something "nice". I have no clue on what all the symbols mean.
Barb wrote: "People having hissy fits because they don't like the way people respond to their posts does not equal being chased away and made to feel unwelcome."As I explained before, right after I read Sally's message, I felt my original posting wasn't really necessary, so I deleted it. It really was no big deal...I have to admit some of your responses to me do at times "un-nerve" me, but I realize that everyone has different personalities and that's fine with me.
BunWat wrote: "It means smiley face. Or in the case of :D means big grin"Ha. I will have to double check these symbols on Google...it's not that I don't trust you!
Kyle wrote: "What? You don't trust me, Cam the man? I'm cool, dude. I wouldn't lead you astray."Yes I do trust you afterall...I just finished checking the symbol on Google...maybe you are one of the more "nicer" people on this site!
RA I promise to be equally flippant to all regardless of their political orientation.Heh. I know. Same here:) Thanks, Buns.
