Catherine | 182 comments There's like a billion of them, so I'll have a wide variety to choose from! I think I can guarantee that Changeless and Blameless will make the list though.

message 152: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (last edited Aug 28, 2010 11:51PM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Is Blameless out already? My daughter just told me tonight it's out on the 1st. Now mind you, I haven't read any of these yet... but there's a plot aspect that she says better be resolved in book 3, and resolved to HER liking, or she'll stop reading. LOL I know what she's talking about, because she told me the issue she's having. I hope for her sake it's taken care of.

message 153: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 182 comments I don't think it's out quite yet. I ordered it from The Book Depository earlier this week and it has already shipped. Yeah! Maybe I'll get it early!

message 154: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments That would be nice. I know some places do ship early! One of the books on my list comes out on the 31st, which is how it qualifies for books I already own before September 1st. Yours does as well because you already bought it, so technically you own it :)

See how flexible we are here? LOL

message 155: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 182 comments LOL! Well, I already paid for it, I just don't possess it yet. Watch me split that hair.

I sill need to read Changeless too. Let me know how you like it. There seems to be strong opinions about the book.

message 158: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 182 comments I've been waiting because of the cliffhanger ending. Now that Blameless is almost out I can finally read it!

message 159: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Alycia, my daughter was ranting like a madwoman after Changeless and if things don't work out the way she wants them to in Blameless, she swears she won't read the next two book. LOL

message 160: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments Catherine wrote: "I've been waiting because of the cliffhanger ending. Now that Blameless is almost out I can finally read it!"

I don't blame you at all. I wouldn't have wanted to wait forever with the cliffhanger either. I bought Changeless on release day, but have held off reading it. I loved Soulless.

message 161: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 182 comments Me too! Soulless was excellent! I've avoided all the reviews for the second book. I only knew to wait because a GR friend advised me. I want to go in clueless. :)

message 162: by Nissie Lambert (new)

Nissie Lambert Pretty day to y'all! What series are these books in?

message 163: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 182 comments The Parasol Protectorate Series.

message 164: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments This series appeals to a wide range. There is the historical romance aspect, the paranormal aspect, the sci fi and steam punk aspect. Kinda hard to just use one label for the series

message 165: by Nissie Lambert (new)

Nissie Lambert Wow! That covers a lot of ground! Do they get confusing?

message 166: by D.G. (last edited Aug 29, 2010 11:21AM) (new)

D.G. No, they're not confusing...they are set in the Victorian era - think Industrial Revolution so there were a lot of advances in machinery and stuff. Just add paranormal to that which seems over the top but the author did a pretty good job combining all the elements.

I heard about the cliffhanger ending of the second book so I'll wait until I have the two books to read them - assuming the third one doesn't have a cliffhanger too...if it does I'll just abandon the series. I won't let an author jerk me around.

message 167: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments Nissie, like D. G. Said it's not confusing at all. There is some romance and paranormal elements set during the steam Victorian era.

message 168: by Nissie Lambert (new)

Nissie Lambert Sounds cool! I'll give them a try. I'm going to see my sister now, and I always come home with a big bag of books. Maybe she has these!

message 169: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments Have fun!

message 170: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckysbusyreading) | 320 comments I will give it another try!
Books that will complete a series:
The Laird Who Loved Me by Karen Hawkins
To Desire a Devil by Elizabeth Hoyt
Midnight Pleasures with a Scoundrel by Lorraine Heath

Trying new authors:
Heather Grothaus with The Warrior
Tess Gerritsen with The Surgeon (also a new genre)
P.Q. Glisson with Her Sanctuary

0/6 for September

message 171: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Yay, Becky!!! I'm adding you now (if I haven't already)

message 172: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (last edited Aug 30, 2010 02:17PM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Great list, Anja!!! It's a doable list and best of all, getting rid of those pesky books sitting on the 'neeed to read' shelf!

message 173: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Woohoo! We're starting tomorrow! And guess what my first book will be?
Married By Morning (The Hathaways, #4) by Lisa Kleypas

I haven't read it yet because I was saving it for a challenge I'm hosting on PBS. :)

Agree! Maybe I'll do something similar in October...two of my challenges were to read male authors and old books from my TBR and I'm behind in both. :(

message 175: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Nice, D.G.! But the challenge starts on the 1st, which is Wednesday. But it's not like I'm going to be peeking in your windows watching. LOL

message 176: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I think for October we're going to be having a FrightFest which you can Build Your Own Challenge again, but they need to be PNR. However, knowing that not everyone will read PNR for whatever reasons, I will probably have a non-PNR required Build Your Own Challenge as well, and of course, a Spell October challenge. How does that sound?

message 177: by Dina (new)

Dina (missdina) | 718 comments Sounds good to me, UM. I'll be tempted to join all of them, but you must stop me! Just so you know how crazy I've become, I'm currently participanting in twelve challenges. Ack! Why, oh why? *pulls own hair*

message 178: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Oh my, Anja... here's how out of control my bookshelves are... it never crossed my mind that someone wouldn't have enough PNR books on their shelves to complete that challenge. I'm embarrassed to say, but not really, that I own over 200 books that are just sitting here waiting to be read.

And yet - - - I buy more.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Ok, look! I just finally ordered Demon Angel... you HAVE to stop tempting me! I insist!!!!

Read it and I'll shut up about it!

But then I'll start in about Demon Moon...

Sounds great! I need to clear some pnr off my shelves, but I may be tempted to do the non-pnr build it yourself one too.

message 187: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Alycia, I think that's the best way to go challenge wise. So there will be 3. Spell October, Build You Own Challenge and Build Your Own Challenge - PNR Edition.

Nissie Lambert I've got lots of books on my Sept. lists. Can I start tomorrow night at midnight? :)

message 191: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

Oh I forgot that August had 31 days! But I'll have to start something tomorrow regardless because I'm almost done with the book I'm reading now. So my next book will be Ecstasy Unveiled (Demonica, #4) by Larissa Ione because I offered Sin Undone (Demonica, #5) by Larissa Ione in a swap at PBS and will need to mail it in the next couple of weeks.

message 197: by Nissie Lambert (new)

Nissie Lambert Good to know! I'll look up time zones lol!

message 198: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Ladies, this is just a reminder that our challenge begins September 1st. If you've posted your lists, remember that any changes you want to make must be done before September 1st.

Also, if you're participating, you need to have your lists posted. You don't have to be too specific, but we need something such as -

"I'm going to read 8 books that I already own..." or "I'm going to read 4 books by authors I've never read before..."

So you see, you don't have to be too specific, but the basis for your challenge needs to be posted.

I hope you all enjoy this challenge! You should after all, since it's of your own making :)

message 199: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 182 comments Since this is my first challenge with you I want to clarify... When I update the challenge should I repost with the new stuff added, or do you just want us to update our initial post?

message 200: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Good question, Catherine. :) In another group we're in, we usually repost (it's easier if you already have a reading list thread where you keep track of challenges) but I wouldn't do it here if that's not what Dhestiny is expecting...
