I can't count how many times I've re-read Jane Eyre! I read it at home and then a couple years ago found out I had to read it at school and was pleasantly surprised and since then I pick it up when I'm in a classical rut

Every year I read a Christmas Carol, trying to finish the "last stave" on Christmas day. I also love re-reading a kids book by Heinlein called "Starman Jones". Many of the good Agatha Christie's bear re-reading (Death in the Clouds, Murder of Roger Ackroyd etc), and I must have read the Lord of the Rings 20 times - it was my "way" of trying to get familiar with a new language - to read the LOTR in that language (that way you don't have to translate!!!). So I have read it in French and Spanish.

Enjoyed it, in the main. I liked the "extension" of the story to include stuff that was told of on the LOTR appendices (like Azog/golf, the discussion between Galadriel and Gandalf, the cameo of Radagast). But I'm a bit old fashioned and don't really like the "all action fight sequences" as my brain doesn't work quick enough to understand what is happening. What about you? Did you like the film? And did you read the whole saga including all the extras that Christopher Tolkien brings out? And, if you did, do you find that they add to your understanding of the story or detract from it?

I've got some books to take care of first, so if i go by the order in which i have decided to read, then this book will fall under my currently reading shelf in April/March. :) really looking forward to reading this...

Dorottya (dorottya_b) | 22 comments I never really reread books, because I like to read new books and get new experiences. But the book I've read most times (4 or 5 times I think) is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen .

message 127: by Plaguedoctor (last edited Jul 11, 2014 04:52PM) (new)

Plaguedoctor The only thing I usually re-read is my manga or comics. I haven't really come across a chapter book that I want to re-read. There's ones I really love, but I generally just like to move on with my list of books to read and if I have time or don't have anything to read later, I'll re-read something.

message 128: by Steph (new)

Steph | 32 comments Yes, I've reread Harry potter over and over again, ten times (literally) :P

message 129: by Steph (new)

Steph | 32 comments I would've read the hunger games more times than I have if I hadn't simultaneously lent it to two friends who literally took months and months to get started on it ..... With the last one I lent it to I eventually got annoyed after five months (literally that long) and demanded it back. The first one, thankfully, bought the white shiny box set and is in love with it :) I love rereading first books in a series. I've only read the mortal instruments series once, so I'll have to read that again.... I don't even own #3,4 or 5!! But I have #6, there's no way I was waiting for that. I also love rereading twilight, and I really want to reread the host soon (but I don't have it D:) I also reread divergent over and over, but I still need to reread insurgent t and allegiant (I was happy with the ending of allegiant, I thought the Veronica Roth justified it very logically and well).

message 130: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie I tend to only read books once because I figure there are so many books in this world I am interested in reading and am too anxious to start the next one I haven't yet read. My TBR pile is always miles long so I have no trouble finding novels I want to read. However, recently, I have been thinking of some favorites that I think I want to buy for myself. The Embroidery cozy mysteries by Amanda Lee for example. And two series by Neta Jackson. The Restoration Series by Terri Blackstock. I would like to re-read the first Left Behind book as well, maybe second and third one. My dad has re-read the Left Behind Series so many times. I think the only book I remember re-reading once is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.

message 132: by Vivalee (new)

Vivalee MG | 10 comments I do not like reading books several times as I do not like seeing a movie several times. However, there are two books that I keep and what I can read from time to time
Les Fleurs du Mal by Charles Baudelaire and The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

message 133: by Ebony (new)

Ebony (poppyy) The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

I cannot get enough of this wonderful book. It is my plan to at least read it once a year. So far, I have succeeded since its publication in 2012. I just love it so much!

message 134: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawn9655) I re-read "The Wind in the Willows" once a year and have done so since 1964 or so (might have been 1963...let's just say a long time ago). Also, when I finish a particularly difficult or consuming book, I will follow that up with something familiar to "clear the palate" so to speak. Then, it's generally something by Mercedes Lackey or Tamora Pierce.
