Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The picture that I posted was of Dakota Blue Richards, and yes, she was in Golden Compass a few years back.

Molly Quinn was also mentioned and she's in Castle.

Wendes | 29 comments I think Odette Yustman would make a pretty good Isabelle.

Sarah (sarahashari) She has the right look but I think people are forgetting that they people are 16, maybe 17 years old.

Wendes | 29 comments That's true, maybe unknowns would be better. So you wouldn't have this image of them from other movies they've been in.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments I am all for unknowns. As long as Alex Pettyfer is Jace! He isn't all that well known and he is all over the internet as Jace - it is kind of the way he IS known. Wonder what he thinks about that?

message 57: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Aug 14, 2010 02:19PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I wish this movie would be made now. Forget now, how about yesterday. If Alex had any chance of being Jace, they'd really need to make that movie ASAP or he's going to be too old for the role.

There are so many good books out there in which you hear about the movie rights being picked up, and then you hear nothing else about it for a while (The Host comes to mind).

I'm also very antsy to hear what casting choices are going to be made for Hunger Games.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh and Terry, since you really want Alex as Jace... I just watched the trailer for Beastly starring Alex Pettyfer here - http://beastlythemovie.com/ It loads the second you click on the page, there's no having to look for it.

Alex looks to be the only thing that they got right for this movie. The other casting doesn't match the book at all.

message 59: by Wendes (new)

Wendes | 29 comments I LOVE the Hunger Games. It was amazing. I like Gaspard Ulliel as Gale (I'm a Team Gale) and maybe Kristin Kreuk as Katniss.

Wow the image of the perfect Alex Pettyfer looking scarred like that is a bit saddening....

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments It is but the beautiful parts are....beautiful. Thanks. I had seen some little trailers but not this much. I read the book. It was okay - the girl did not look like this! But who cares.

message 62: by [deleted user] (new)

Even all scarred, he's still beautiful. Thanks for posting the link to the trailer!

I he also the one in Beastly? Another vote here for Alex Pettyfer! Gorgeous!!!

Yvaine08 | 18 comments Obviously, I haven't read all the postings before I posted my question on Alex in Beastly. :D

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments Hi friends,
I just started reading this series, am now on the second book and I love it. I too picture Alex Pettyfer(his name should spell Alex Prettyfine) as Jace. :) and for Clary I picture Rachel Hurd-Wood

I was wondering though, whats with all the smells and tastes, like copper, metal, and concrete? Does it really smell like that in that State?

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments I pictured this girl for Clary

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments Looks like it's gonna be a very exciting movie!

Lisa (lissarbry) | 16 comments I have been reading Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare and I find it interesting, but slow at times. I have not read the Mortal Instruments series yet, but do plan on it. I met Cassandra Clare when she was in Houston for the Smart Chicks tour. She is funny and really wants to hear what her fans think about her books.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments I'd definitely read the Mortal Instruments before reading Clockwork Angel. It will make Clockwork Angel so much more interesting because the CA story kind of assumes you already know things that you can't know if you haven't read them.

message 72: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lissarbry) | 16 comments Thanks, Terry! I may need to re-read it once I read the other three.

message 73: by Annabel (new)

Annabel (boekenwormmom) I've just started reading City of Bones. But i've read the first book in the infernal devices already. I loved that book so much I decided to get all three books of the mortal instrument series.

She's gorgeous! Just needs to dye her hair red, and I'd love her for the role of Clary.

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments @ Lazuline here is another one of her with redder hair. :)

This one my fav cause she looks a little older more how I'd imagine her mom to look like when she was young.

message 76: by Annie (new)

Annie (anncraven) Rachel Hurdwood is perfect! And I think she would look good with Alex P as Jace.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments Anyone would like good with Alex as Jace! Well, actually not anyone, but I could probably handle it as long as she is a good actress.

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments I think she looks good with him too. She has that soft innocent look but with a little mischief too and she just looks like a Clary to me.

message 79: by Tintin (new)

Tintin (marimorimo) | 40 comments I'm currently reading Clockwork Angel. I've never read the MI series before. I'm still testing whether it would be the kind of story and writing I like, and if it is I'll buy the rest of the series. 1/4 through the book and I'm still on the fence. It's OK, veering more toward 'like,' but I'm not rushing to finish it either.

message 80: by Annie (new)

Annie (anncraven) Terry, you're right anyone would look good with Alex as Jace. BUT I've been hearing that people want Emma Stone to play Clary? Don't know if that would do good for me...just my opinion.

message 81: by Mayra (last edited Oct 08, 2010 07:03AM) (new)

Mayra (MayraM) | 10 comments Love MI, love Jace, Alex Pettyfer is perfect for Jace. Anyone seen Tormented?, he is a sarcastic jerk yet charming in an evil kind of way (because of the movie) so i can see how it will translate to him playing Jace.
The best thing about this series is of course the love story but also the humor, so many funny quotes, endearing characters and even though at some times it turned very dramatic it was always above all a fun fast-pased read, not to serious, Clary and Jace at their worst instead of moaning got sarcastic and the chemistry was incredible, inspite of the fact the author tried to trick us, for those of us with brothers, it was obvious the sibling thing was an evil hoax.

message 82: by Annie (new)

Annie (anncraven) TMI and ID are two of my fave series out there. It has everything you want in a book.

And Mayra, I remember nearly dying when I first read about the sibling thing. So glad that it wasn't the case. Phew!

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments My mind is a blank. What is ID? I kind of hate using initials unless it is something I know is being discussed. Maybe just me and my mind....or lack of it.

message 84: by Annie (new)

Annie (anncraven) Infernal Devices! The first book is Clockwork Angel.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments Gotcha. I have of course read CA but didn't think of the name of the series. Duh.

message 86: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 48 comments I LOVE this series... I read Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series and was hopelessly depressed when I finished it... moped around from book to book and when I picked COB up I found a series that I loved again. I've read them maybe 3 times.. I love how they are YA but the twists are really unexpected. Usually the YA novels tend to be a bit more predictable.

I used the quote: "If you were half as funny as you think you are, you would be twice as funny as you are" on my boyfriend the other day. He thought I was a genius until I fessed up that I got it from MI!

I really want to read ID. I've got to get my hands on it.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments Gosh, I LOVE the Outlander series - it is IMO the greatest love story ever written. Outlander and the MI series are two of my favorite series ever - Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters series and Bridei Chronicles are two others and then I can thank Twilight for getting me reading again so have to give credit where credit is due. So far nothing else has come close to these. But maybe one is out there!

message 88: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Outlander IS the greatest love story ever written, lol.

I'll have to move MI up my list to under Finnick.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Outlander is one of the best love stories ever (even if you don't like the rest of it, the love story is epic). I also really enjoy Rain and Ellie's story in Tairen Soul (epic fantasy series that's romance heavy).

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments I have the first Tairen Soul books on my To Read list. I need to buy it.

message 91: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq | 177 comments Dear lord.. how out of the loop am I? What is Taiern Soul about? Genre... Author...
thanks!

message 92: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I can't tell when I look them up, is the Taiern Soul series about the same people like Outlander? Or do they change like the BDB series?

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments I think Taiern soul is straight fantasy while Outlander is historical with the time travel twist which makes it a bit fantasy of course. If you love Outlander you should try some of Juliet Marillier's books. (Sevenwaters series, The Bridei Chronicles) They aren't the same, but all my friends who love Outlander also love them. And I realize we are quite off topic! But then that is how we hear of other books, isn't it?

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments Who is the author of Taiern soul?

message 96: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 48 comments Oh yes, Outlander is the greatest series of all time. I keep hoping maybe my life is a dream and I'm really Claire Fraser LOL!

I love the MI series, though. I have got to get a hold of ID as well. I have a huge "to read" list and I need to put that one at the top of it.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments Well, Jamie and Jace are my all time favorites - although they are in far different books. But...both are warriors.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Meme wrote: "Who is the author of Taiern soul?"

CL Wilson. It is definitely an adult series though. Not YA at all. I just happen to find the couple has that "meant to be" love like Jamie and Claire.

It is an epic fantasy series that is heavy on the romance, so it combines what I like about reading fantasy (great world building/magic/mystical races/wars or conflicts), but still has the girly aspect of romance in it.

Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson Lady of Light and Shadows (Tairen Soul, #2) by C.L. Wilson King of Sword and Sky (Tairen Soul, #3) by C.L. Wilson Queen of Song and Souls (Tairen Soul, #4) by C.L. Wilson Crown of Crystal Flame (Tairen Soul, #5) by C.L. Wilson

*edit* Just wanted to clarify that Rain and Ellie in this book are not the same kind of couple as Jamie and Claire. Their personalities/actions are completely different. I just like their love story in a similar way that I enjoyed J&C's x2 (haha...jamie&claire - jace&clary).

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 68 comments Thank you Stacia

I have actually been looking for recommendations on books with the same feel as the The Mortal Instruments (the love of Jace & Clary) with some adultness to it(sorry I'm a sucker for a good love scene;) . I also agree with you guys up there Outlander is the best love story ever ahhh that Jamie..:)

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments I've mentioned these books before here and they are hard to find in book stores, perhaps because they are by an Australian author but the love stories and writing in Juliet Marillier's books are right up there with the MI and Outlander books for me. The second book in the Sevenwaters series is an incredible read (Son of the Shadows) although I loved all four, and my real favorites of hers are the Bridei Chronicles (trilogy). They are set in the fifth century in Ireland and Britain and at a time when the fey were real (if you happen to believe in magic). They are not YA but not graphic like Outlander - kind of in between I have bought every book she has written since I started on them this summer including a pretty expensive short story book from Australia just to get her story in it. It was worth every penny.
Back to the MI, I got the audio CD of City of Bones today and it is awesome!
