Catherine (cattymccat) | 754 comments I bought Tiger's Curse today! I can't wait to read it...

Tiger's Curse Preview by Colleen Houck

I also got these for my kindle:
Vesper (Deviants, #1) by Jeff Sampson Flip this Zombie (Living with the Dead, #2) by Jesse Petersen

Alison | 234 comments Well I took it on advisement (Carina, Britt Ta Muchly) and I am having a break from The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa

Jumped into a good ol Vampire PNR Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #1) by J.R. Ward and got hooked instantly. Just what my brain needed :-)

Stacia, about what you said about the similarities between your book and, I think you said Unearthly. Don't linger on it too hard. There are so many books out there that follow a similar theme but they still go on to sell well and be succesful in their own right.

Take BDB and Midnight Breed Series. I can't believe how similar they are, now I've started reading BDB. But I am still enjoying BDB just as much as if I'd never read the other series.

Let's face it Vampires have been done to death but we still luv 'em and eat 'em right up. Don't lose any sleep over it, a couple of similarities does not a copier make :-) Plus you wrote yours before hers was published so there, meh!

ooohh really? I really wanted to get that book, but I wasn't so sure, is it really good?

brittany (cirilla) Woo for Alice in Wonderland!

message 4755: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq I'm an easy sell... GR has been promoting this book The Weird Sisters by Eleanor Brown like crazy, so I'm reading it now... I got stuck with The Schwa Was Here by Neal Shusterman (it's good, but i'm stuck!!!)

message 4756: by tee (new)

tee (observationsofanovice) Hi Everyone! I am very new to group discussions/activities.

I read The Mortal Instruments (City of BonesCity of AshesCity of Glass) (what can I say, after the first one I was hooked) and now I am REREADING them... for two reasons.

1. I want to write a review with an actual analysis or the pro's and con's.
2. I enjoyed reading them so much.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? As of right now, I'm really into the whole "Fallen Angel/Angels" area of fantasy/paranormal genre. Although, I must add, that I just recently became really hooked in this genre, December 2009, to be exact.

So if you wouldn't mind, you can take a look at my book list to see what I've read and what I want to read and what not and point me in any direction.

Thank you.

Carina Yes, finally my Bones fix!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oooo we get to have a Bones moment? Woo!

I'm starting my Night Huntress re-read next week! Then hopefully NH world too before NH5.

Thank you Alison. You made me feel better. I needed a kick in the butt. I'm talking to a possible agent right now, so we'll see how this goes...

message 4768: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Only 2 weeks until TSOTG!!

I'm nearly finished Mine till midnight and its actually pretty good.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Splendor (Luxe, #4) by Anna Godbersen

Sigh...I know what's coming and I keep hoping it won't.

HENRY I LOVE YOU!

Just pretend theres an alternative ending. A friend of mine gave up on the series because she hates Penelope so much.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I am going to. Nothing will ever shake my love of Henry. He's not even real and my heart does little flips whenever he comes into the picture.

message 4772: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Henry is definitely hot.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You know how I feel about Jace, but there is something about Henry's soul that calls out to me. He can have whoever he wants, yet is so captivated by Diana that I can almost feel his torture.

Plus, he's just hot. So, so, so hot.

message 4774: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Mmhmm totally agree!

I don't even know who my favourite YA character is anymore

message 4775: by Isamlq (last edited Feb 07, 2011 10:23PM) (new)

Isamlq OK.. I'm sold... totally reading this series after thirteen reasons...

message 4776: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Yay!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It's so hard with guys like Dimitri, Adrian, Will, Jem, Patch, Cam, Ren, etc.

I still hold onto Jace for number 1, but Henry is really doing a number on me, even though he can't seem to figure out how to hold onto a girl.

There is something about Luxe that makes me an emotional wreck. I go from happy to sad to happy to sad. Even though I'm pissed at what's to come, I am so in love with Godberson's writing.

message 4778: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Its because all YA guys are becoming really alike.

I agree she is an amazing writer I really want to read her new series.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I am absolutely going to read Bright Young Things (Bright Young Things, #1) by Anna Godbersen this month even if it means I have to knock something else out of the way.

message 4780: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I might read it next month.

message 4781: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Feb 07, 2011 10:32PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You're probably right Brit. Henry is the epitome of the ultimate man for that time period. He is a rich, good looking playboy that doesn't have to answer to anyone, and that's why Diana captivated him. She challenged who he was and made him want to be something else. He was never really cocky like today's YA guys, he just was a drinking, partying, lazy guy that didn't care who he hooked up with. He just lived in the moment and never had to pursue anyone. She made him chase her.

It was the darn bowling hat. God, I love Diana almost as much as I love Henry. She's my kind of girl.

The scene in book 2 I think, where he wanted to go to her when he thought she was in mourning was so sweet.

I agree! Their story was so captivating because it was such a different kind of romance.

Haha the bowling hat was cute.

Jace wins in my book. Hands down. There are honorable mentions, but Jace will always be the winner. I love Will, Daniel, Peta.. And tons more that I can't think of right now. Will is a close second, but I think it's just because he reminds me so much of Jace. lol

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I was never a huge Peeta or Gale fan. Peeta was the nicer one, Gale was the cuter one...neither guy was huge in the personality department though.

I liked Peeta as a character, but he never made me swoon over him for some reason.

message 4785: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Well atm Jem is one of my favourites. And Puck probably. Jace is definitely an all time favourite though. Oh I don't know.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Now Finnick - I would have been all up in Finnick's world.

brittany (cirilla) Stacia ~ curiouser and curiouser wrote: "Now Finnick - I would have been all up in Finnick's world."

(view spoiler)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Jace, then Henry, then all the rest of em. Although, if we were doing people as real life characters, I think that I would mesh well with Dimitri as a person. I could see Dimitri as a good relationship/husband type. He'd be a real family guy I can tell.

I love me some Jace as a fantasy guy, but he'd be a strange boyfriend or serious relationship. I just don't see him ever being domestic for some reason.

message 4789: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I'd take a real life Jace over Dimitri I think.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I would take Jace as a really hot fling. A very hot, long-lasting fling.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) But then again, Jace can't pull a chapter 32 I bet.

So...BONES!!!

message 4792: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) LOL definitely Bones.

I'd take a Barrons too. And a V'lane.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Oh man. V'lane would put all the others to shame wouldn't he?

I mean it's so good you can DIE from it.

message 4794: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I can't imagine anyone as him. Even when he tones himself down to human form hes still like a god.

Why? You can't make up your mind about Ren or Shay?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Ack, Alison...

I responded to your post and totally spaced that you were reading BDB!

Have fun with that series! I liked the first book okay, but the second one is SO much better. Wrath just wasn't my type of guy, but Rhage and Zsadist in books 2 and 3 were <<>>.

And i'll take Damon. I don't care if he doesnt count I LOVE HIM MOST.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Dimitri would be the responsible (yet still hot and readily available) husband, Jace would be the side piece of meat - the toy if you will.

Not that I want to cheat on my real husband. I'm very happy in my relationship. If he ever reads the posts in this group he's going to think I've seriously lost it.

I actually laughed at loud in Splendor when Diana got excited about being Henry's mistress.
