Alison | 234 comments Brit & Stacia. Well at least I'm glad it didn't just go over my head. I'm usually really good at interpreting weird endings but that just totally stumped me.

message 4402: by Carina (new)

Carina @Catherine I've had Such a Pretty Girl on my to-read for AGES! Let me know how it is and I might get it on my kindle!

Carina You guys just made me LOL with all you SPOILER talk!

"Did you (spoiler) it was awesome!"

"I totally thought that (spoiler) But i never regreted it..."

I have no idea what you're talking about. Hahaha sooo funny!

Alison | 234 comments Carina, we were talking about the end of Dorian Gray. It was so weird. It kinda qualifies to be talked about here, coz it's a book by Oscar Wilde. But we got talking about it the other day and I finally got to see it on Sunday night. Just couldn't quite figure out the ending.

On a completely Un-book related topic. Lordy Pete are we having BAD weather, it's all kind of nasty out there. This is officially the 1st blizzard I've ever been in. Kind of exciting really, nothing this extreme ever happened when I lived on the other side of the pond :-)

message 4407: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Feb 01, 2011 01:32PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) @ Camilla,

You may be one of the first people I know besides me that's read Academy 7. I liked it but it needed more SPACE stuff. I wanted to see the planets and spaceships, but they were at a school half the time working on projects because they got in trouble. I wish the author would turn it into a series and explore the world more.

@ Catherine,

Gah. I don't know. BD dragged for me, but since Jessica said to do it, then go for it! Maybe it was just me. I do love Ridley and Link though!

Firelight is cute, but very similar to Twilight in its sugar sweetness. I liked it, but a few people I know were put off by the similarities to Twilight.

@ Alison,

The schools are shut down in our area because people are getting frostbite if they go outside. We don't usually get weather this cold.

message 4408: by Carina (new)

Carina @Ali & Stacia
We are having a snow storm too! Its only our second storm of the season and although I dont really like the snow, I have to admit that I missed it.

message 4409: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments Carina & Stacia, I bet you are getting the same storm as us, apparently it is a huge swath all the way from texas up to the northeast and we're slap bang in the middle.

We are set to get 2ft by the time it's finished. I had to take a breather just walking up to the barn the snow is now so deep and it's drifting badly too. the snow is nearly to the top of my car and it's UNDERCOVER in a lean-to!!! EEK. Can't imagine the aftermath of this when it finally stops tomorrow.

As I said, kind of exciting really (Yes I am officially bonkers LOL!)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm right above Carina in Colorado.

message 4411: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments Are you getting the snow?

I'm just about to head out to the barn to feed the horses, wish me luck LOL! If you don't hear from me again, I'm probably buried under feet of snow.

message 4412: by Carina (new)

Carina If its hitting us hard here I can only imagine the quantity of snow you guys are getting!

message 4413: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Feb 01, 2011 02:12PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) It's really not snowing now. It's just 13 below zero with the wind chill.

Don't get lost Alison!

message 4414: by Carina (new)

Carina The wind makes it feel sooooo much colder!

Ali send a flare if you get stuck, we'll come get you!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I remember reading the Little House on the Prarie books when I was little, and Pa had to tie a rope from the house to the barn so he could find his way back and forth in the blizzard.

message 4416: by Carina (new)

Carina I bet some people still do that!

message 4417: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments I made it back!! It is up to my knees in places and I'm 5'9". I have never in my life seen snow this deep, my poor dog was having to push it with her chest and she's a lab, so not that small.

Stacia I bet you have seen much more snow that this, you probably think I'm a wussy wimp LOL! But we just don't get weather like this where I'm from.

Tonight we are expecting -10 with wind chill and tomorrow down to -25. I've filled both bath tubs coz at that temp my pump will freeze and I'll have no water. Joys of living in the boonies.

Sorry to everyone else for hijacking a book group and talking about the weather, but I'm a brit and that's what we do best Ha Ha!!

Stay warm peeps, let's weather this storm together :-)

Oh I know, at least I'll get to read more of The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa there you go I made reference to a book *grins*

message 4418: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Feb 01, 2011 10:13PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Actually no I haven't really. I've only been in Colorado a few years, and where I live at we only get a few days of snow per year. We have had two heavy snows that have qualified as blizzards, but that's always the rarity, not the norm.

I'm a northern California native, and we didn't ever get snow where I lived.

Oh, we have to talk about books again? I plan on getting back to Uglies again tonight and maybe I'll make real progress on it this time. I got sidetracked yesterday by another Hathaways series book. I'm having so much fun with The Hathaways.

message 4419: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Okay, so now I'm reading three books! Besides Siren's Surrender by Devyn Quinn and Real Mermaids Don't Wear Toe Rings by Helene Boudreau , I'm also reading Hannah (Daughters of the Sea, #1) by Kathryn Lasky . They're all so good, and I couldn't choose between them on which to read first. Why not all three? :D

Ashley ~twisted_illusions~ (twisted_illusions) | 70 comments I read Vampire Knight, Volume 3 by Matsuri Hino and I just started Fragile Eternity (Wicked Lovely, #3) by Melissa Marr

VAMPIRE KNIGHT *Fangirl mode*

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm not really a manga girl, but I might try the series out since you seem to like it Brit. Maybe when I get my Nook color at the end of the month.

message 4423: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I used to be way more into Anime than Manga. VK is really good though. If it was a novel it would be a lovely YA book. But I prefer it being Manga.

message 4424: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 754 comments So tonight I finished Such a Pretty Girl; (which was amazing & I would recommend it to anyone) it's a really quick read too. And I'm starting Beautiful Darkness... :)

Beautiful Darkness (Caster Chronicles, #2) by Kami Garcia Such a Pretty Girl by Laura Wiess

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Father Mine Zsadist and Bella's Story (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6.5) by J.R. Ward

DEVIATING AGAIN! I miss my BDB boys though, so I'm doing a short story that I missed out on when reading the series.

brittany (cirilla) The Demon King is seriously taking me forever

message 4427: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 754 comments Ugh... All this ice & snow. Yuck! We here in Oklahoma aren't used to weather like this, so this is really throwing us off. :x

message 4428: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I've never had ice and snow. Got this awful hot weather.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Britnee - *The Mistress of all evil!* wrote: "The Demon King is seriously taking me forever"

I might just put it to the side for a month and go back to it when I'm in the mood to read a fantasy book. Right now I'm still in a pnr and historical mood.

message 4430: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Well if you aren't in the mood then there is no worth forcing yourself. I'm really enjoying it

message 4431: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 754 comments @Britnee: How hot? It's -14 degrees Celsius here right now...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Everyone seems to like it, so I'm sure it's good. I just have to be in the mood for fantasy. I will definitely read it. In fact, I need to add to my unfinished for now shelf so I remember to go back to it.

message 4433: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) @Catherine around 29 celsius I think. So freaking hot.

@Stacia I like Fantasy books because the characters are always strong and interesting.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I do too. I'm a multiple genre reader. Fantasy is just something that I have to be in the mood for though because of the world building.

If you love fantasy, Tairen Soul = epic. Oh lord I love those books. It has all of the magic, the enchanting lands, warriors and wars, etc. but still has a great love story and so many hot guys. Plus flying cats...sigh. So, so, so, so good.

message 4435: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I have to be in the mood for any book really. Like when I read Stray I don't think I was really in the mood for it.

Yeah I do wanna read them they look good.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I miss Shera posting in this group. When she read the first Tairen Soul book I remember laughing at her reaction because she mentioned fist pumping or something similar.

message 4437: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Ha fist pumping. Isn't that what you do when something is awesome or something.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Yeah. I'm looking for her comment now because it was cute. I thought she put it in the Tairen Soul topic over in Delirity, but it's not there.

message 4439: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Haha aw.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Okay, found it in her review :

This book needs to be checked out just for the buzz alone that it's stirring. Don't let the soulmate and romance shelving fool you, this book could hold its own in with the Epic Fantasy. It has a fantasy world that rivals many that I've come across, plus has the added bonus of making me fall in love with more then just the main characters. You'll laugh out loud with this book, have "fist pump of victory" moments, bite your lip in worry, and just get all tangled up with this book.

message 4441: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Ha cute! I don't think I've ever fist pumped at a book though o.o I've punched many though.
