Jen (jennifer_ashmy) | 245 comments I have a question for those of you who have read 'The Mortal Instruments' series and Clockwork Angel. Can Clockwork Angel be read without reading City of Bones and the rest of the TMI series? Because I want to read Clockwork Angel before City of Bones just because the whole Victorian period setting really appeals to me but I'm afraid of feeling lost since I know Clockwork Angel is a prequel to the TMI series and I haven't read any of the TMI books yet.

Tashina (tashinafalene) Just finished Warped by Maurissa Guibord like two minutes ago and I absolutely loved it! There is a hint at the end about a sequel, but it's definitely one of those stories that doesn't leave you asking and wondering impatiently. If you love fantasy and time travel novels, this one is most definitely a must-read! :)

I'm moving on to Timeless by Alexandra Monir

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Finished Siren's Call (Dark Tides, #1) by Devyn Quinn and it was AMAZING! Now I'm reading Siren's Surrender by Devyn Quinn .

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) @ Alison,

Yay another Shadowfever lover! (although I didn't have any doubt, who didn't love it????)

@ Garrett,

I've had that series on my tbr for a little while. It looks really good, I'll have to try it!

message 4322: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) i wonder what Alison thinks about that Plot Twist that makes me really angry.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I was more sad than angry. It's not over though...maybe there's hope? I mean, I doubt it, but I'm not giving up hope for him until the spin off books are done.

message 4324: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I'm sad and angry. I'm never falling so hard for a character again! Yeah..a little bit of hope..

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'd still hook up with him, but only in his old form, even if his new form was supposed to be better looking. Luckily only people that have read the book know what I'm talking about so I don't have to use a spoiler tag here.

message 4326: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Lol right! Force him to keep the disguise. (I nearly slipped up and said the name). Well everyone should read this series.

message 4327: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jan 29, 2011 11:27PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Sigh...I think we're being ignored by now. You, me, Carina, Isa, Joanna and Alison all loved it though (oh wait I'm speaking too soon for Joanna, she's MIA and hasn't finished the last book yet)! I think Truthic read it too?

Seriously, people. You have a hard time finding a better series finale anywhere. It just might be the best final book in a series EVER, and you know how pissy I get about people throwing around phrases like "best ever," since most people that use the words are only saying it because they're hyped on a boy crush (and I love me some hot guys but hot guy does not equal good story all the time) and you realize the story itself they're referring to is just okay. So for me to say best in relation to anything means I'm dead serious because the word bothers me at how much it's overused.

Agreed! People should not ignore us this series ROCKS.

message 4329: by Alison (last edited Jan 30, 2011 12:20PM) (new)

Alison | 234 comments Stacia & Brit, Totally agree!

**** Warning, could be spoilerish (no names mentioned)***

Now as for the plot twist at the end, you know I had a feeling it was going to veer in that direction. There was just something about him I didn't trust, all the way through the 5 books.

But then I drive my hubby nuts all the time, coz I do that when watching films. I'll say "I bet so-and-so is going to do this or be that, and more often than not it happens." He's all like "How did you know that from what you've watched so far?" Dunno, just a feeling.

The only movie that really caught me out was Sixth Sense, I did NOT see that coming.

Superb bloody ending though. (Talking Fever again now) I absolutely LOVED how Ms. Moning ended that series, it was total satisfaction for me and made me fall even harder for Barrons. Does anyone have any idea how long it will be till they make the movie? Although it will be an odd series coz it will start off PG-13 and end up R rated LOL! I can't even begin to think who could fill Barrons shoes in the movie. That's a tuffy.

I have no idea what to write in my review, I'm crappy at writing reviews and I know I am not going to be able to do this one justice. Can we give it 10 stars?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I said in my review that it was 6 stars, so I know what you mean about wanting to rate it higher than a 5. If 10 stars was an option, I would have given it that!

SyFy is looking to option it as a t.v. series. Not sure how they'll do the rating because the first two books don't have any sex scenes at all, but the last three do, and you really can't water down the 4 princes part without losing the point they're trying to get across. And the priya scene is just so perfect I'd be sad if they took it out. If it's on late night they can do a TV MA and insinuate that things are happening without showing too much skin.

I put all the spin-off series info in the Shadowfever topic that's in the folder near the bottom of the main page.

Okay, usually I would put this in the books to movies topic, but since you mentioned it here...

Hmm...

Eduardo Verastegui?

or David Gandy?

or

Henry Cavill (ewww chest hair though)

V'lane (Jason Lewis)

and one of our favorites for the DREAMY EYED GUY! (she's also a common pick for Mac as well)

message 4332: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jan 30, 2011 01:02PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Ian would make the perfect DEG the more I look at his eyes.

If any of those pics are too racy, I'll take them down but I didn't think they were too out there.

message 4333: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) What a lovely sight to wake up too.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) That's it. Ian has to be the DEG. He would be perfect and I have no problem with him juggling 2 series at once.

message 4335: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Definitely Ian has very dreamy eyes.

message 4336: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments OMG Stacia you nailed it with the 1st guy Eduardo, he's purrfect for Barrons. Have to agree on Ian as DEG also. Not so sure on Jason as V'lane. Don't see V'lane as being that built. Ben Barnes would make a good DEG too. He would also make a great Christian, espcially towards the end.

Ooh Ooh I'm getting all goose bumpy just thinking about it. HBO should take the show on then they'd be able to do it justice.

Talking of Ben, I'm watching Picture of Dorian Grey tonight, only my 2 fave actors in the same place at the same time - can I cope? *Grins*

message 4337: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Dorian Gray is one of the best movies EVER. I love Ben

message 4338: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments Forgot to add. That girl in the pic with Ian (don't know her name) but yes, she would make a good Mac.

message 4339: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Hm I still prefer Amber Heard for Mac.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Dorian Gray is quite scandalous. Definitely not for the kiddies because it has nudity, sex, drug use and violence. But it was very hot and Ben Barnes was delicious. So glad Netflix has it on their instant queue now. :)

Yeah, I don't like how built Lewis is either, but his face is nice.

I could almost see Ian's face as Christian too, but for some reason I picture Christian taller, so I'll just keep him as my DEG pick.

message 4341: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments Oh dear - I'm going to watch it with my much older friend (she now has netflix through her Wii, and a big screen tv) Is she likely to have a heart attack watching this?

message 4342: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Alison wrote: "Oh dear - I'm going to watch it with my much older friend (she now has netflix through her Wii, and a big screen tv) Is she likely to have a heart attack watching this?"

Lol well its pretty graphic.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) He hooks up with a lot of women. The premise is that he pretty much sells his soul to stay young and beautiful so he can achieve all of the pleasures life has to offer, and he indulges quite a bit.

I had NO clue what the movie was about other than it had a forever young theme and Ben Barnes was in it. Even I was a bit surprised at a few parts.

message 4344: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) The Picture of Dorian Gray asks us to consider a lot of Big Issues – and key among them is the idea of innocence.

Lol thats what the internet said.

message 4345: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments Oh great, this is going be like watching it with my mother (who is unfortunately 4000 miles away) I'm probably going to end up being more embarrassed than she is *groan* :-)

message 4346: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) When I watched it with my mum I think shes the one who got embarrassed xD

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I can't go to the movies with my mom. She makes comments about every single thing that bothers her.

Mom...I know. I had to do that in order to have kids.

message 4348: by Alison (new)

Alison | 234 comments LMAO. When I was younger my mum would always make kissy noises when anyone got remotely romantic in whatever we were watching, and I would just want my chair to swallow me up. LOL Oh the memories.

Brit, I just googled Amber Heard, yeah she would be good too.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Even though I liked Dorian Gray, it was definitely racier than what I usually prefer, so I'd definitely disclaimer it to your friend first and make sure she's going to be okay with the nudity and multiple partner thing. I wish they had toned the movie down a little. A brief scene here and there is fine, but I felt like they went a little bit overboard trying to convey just how far gone he was. The story was very interesting though, and I wasn't complaining about getting to see BB in all his glory.

message 4350: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) @Alison LOL. and yeah I think she is good because she suits both light and dark hair.

Lol I agree Stacia some of those scenes were overboard.
