brittany (cirilla) I'm reading Angelfire (Angelfire, #1) by Courtney Allison Moulton and its alright..if it doesn't get any better soon I'm gunna drop it. I guess I'm getting really picky about YA Paranormal

message 4009: by Carina (new)

Carina Oh really?? I hope it gets better cause I was planning on reading it on Feb, but let me know ;)

brittany (cirilla) Carina wrote: "Oh really?? I hope it gets better cause I was planning on reading it on Feb, but let me know ;)"

It IS good. I like the idea of it but it is nothing compared to books I have been reading. *Cough* Shadowfever

message 4011: by Carina (new)

Carina Haha, gotcha. But Im not really expecting many books to be as good as Shadowfever. That's asking for ALOT!

I know of a few people that didn't like it, so you wouldn't be alone.

message 4013: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) It's just..I like the idea of it..but the characters don't appeal to me. And if I don't like the characters then I don't like the book.

message 4015: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Okay I'm dropping Angelfire for a bit its annoying me. Will goes on.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Britnee, you like fantasy right?
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I had to redo that review. It was killing me after my friends Amy and Terry have been trying to get people to read this series and I always chime in with, "yeah it's good...you should read it."

This series is so good. Book 1 only got a 4 star (which is still pretty decent), but I gave the other books in the series 5 stars.

Oh, wow it does look good! I'll have to check it out.

message 4018: by Carina (new)

Carina I have it in my kindle Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson
I just havent gotten around to it yet =/

message 4019: by Carina (new)

Carina Ok so I have a question,
I know that BDB is VERY adulty, but how about Tairen Soul and Shifters?
Chicagoland Series?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) When I read the last book of Tairen Soul, I was just about as hyped as I was over Shadowfever. Maybe not quite as much, but pretty close. It sort of starts like Fever where each book gets better, but I still thought LotFL was a better first book than Darkfever.

message 4021: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Now I'm going through the nothing-can-compare-to-Shadowfever phase <.<

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) BDB is Rated R - very steamy. I haven't read Demonica, but I think it's comparable? Isa would know.

Tairen Soul is sort of a soft R. There are sex scenes, but not as graphic (or as frequent) as BDB and it feels more "sweet" because the couple is truemated, which is the equivilent of a marriage. They actually do wait to have sex until their marriage is official.

Shifters has a couple of sex scenes, but nothing real graphic, and not in every book. I think in the couple of books that have scenes, it's like one very brief mention and then that's it for the book. PG-13ish to mild R. It's maybe a slight step up from VA or HoN in content, but almost comparable. I'd actually recommend the books for 13 to 14 and up, whereas something like BDB or Night Huntress I'd say older teen.

Chicagoland has almost NOTHING in the first book. In fact, the main character doesn't do anything, but there's mentions of other people briefly hooking up without much detail It's PG-13 at the most, if that. Same with the second book. Book 3 is where it heats up a little bit but even that scene didn't barely breech an R rating. I'd also put this on par with a VA or HoN type of steam.

message 4024: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I'm going to read all of those series.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'd say that Tairen Soul and Shifters are the better ones, but Chicagoland sort of reminds me of Vampire Academy. Merit and Rose could be sisters. BDB is my fallback when I can't think to process deep storylines.

message 4026: by Carina (new)

Carina I've read the second Demonica book Desire Unchained (Demonica, #2) by Larissa Ione and it is definetly R, thats why Im holding of on reading BDB. Im just not in the mood for something so steamy right now. I feel like reading something sweeter so maybe I should start LotFL.
But since Stray (Shifters, #1) by Rachel Vincent is one of my challenge books this month, I guess I'll just stick to this one..

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Speaking of sisters...Faythe from Shifters could be Alina from Fever in disguise. She reminds me of Mac.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm really not into the whole demon thing, which is why I've never picked up Demonica. It just gives me the creeps. I started reading Succubus Blues because I wanted to try another series by Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy) and while the story has grabbed me from the start, I'm not really feeling the whole "demon stealing souls with sex" thing. It's a bit out there for me. But...I'm finding the story is actually sort of fun though, so we'll see how far I get.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Catherine wrote: "But, But... I loved Jace for forever."

She snuck in and snuck out. Haha.

message 4030: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Oh, I don't mind Demons. Although if Demonica is really graphic I'm not reading it.

message 4031: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Argh I'm going to read The Demon King (Seven Realms, #1) by Cinda Williams Chima i think and maybe The Lipstick Laws by Amy Holder

message 4032: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jan 24, 2011 03:38PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I heard that the books didn't even start to get good until closer to the end, so that and the whole demon thing made it a no go for me. (oh and I'm not usually into books where it's only about being graphic, so I'm not sure why I like BDB so much. Maybe it's the hot vampires)

Why waste time when I can go for something that peaks my interest earlier on?

message 4033: by Carina (new)

Carina I think I'll add Sucubus Blues too but probably wont read it for a while.

My to-read list gets bigger and bigger, and I cant stop feeding it!!

message 4034: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Jan 24, 2011 03:39PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I WILL get to Demon King by the end of the month. One of my friends is pounding it into my head to read it and says it's SO good. Plus, it's YA fantasy, and I haven't read one in a little bit.
