Okay so i am reading The Forest of Hands and Teeth (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #1) and so far i see what you mean about being depressing i mean jeez! i am only like 30 pages in and so far she has lost like everything!!!

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (courfeyrack) I know, right?! It's gooooooooooood though. =] It gets so much better, but man does it stay depressing. Lol.

LilaBird | 22 comments I am reading Dead to the World
Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse, #4) by Charlaine Harris

and The Iron King
The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa

So far, I really like them both. The Sookie Stackhouse book is the first one that is past the story lines that are happening in True Blood, so it is interesting to get brand new, fresh things happening that I wasn't expecting or anticipating. I love that Bill is away and Eric has come to stay....

The Iron King is good too, but I'm not too far into it yet. It's just getting into the faery/changeling/seelie stuff, but so far it's entertaining!

message 805: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bexsi) I finished Undead and Unwed (Undead, #1) by MaryJanice Davidson this was a very funny read and The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory another fab book by Philippa Gregory. I have just started Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder I have read some good reviews about this book and think its somthing I will enjoy.

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (courfeyrack) I'm starting Nevermore (Nevermore, #1) by Kelly Creagh today!!

Catherine (cattymccat) | 754 comments I'm reading Tempted by P.C. Cast & Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia. I'm getting really aggravated with Tempted, because Zoey is so wishy washy with her boys (two of which are amazing), but I think I kind of get it. I'm not very far into Beautiful Creatures, but so far I'm loving it. Just like everyone said I would. Hehe...

Jean Valjean (OG 2010) (courfeyrack) For me, that was the straw (having to stack books all over my room because I had no room left on the shelves) that broke the Camel's back. I realized that my book-purchasing had gotten out of hand and it was straight up TIME for an ereader.

Get on that, Aiyanna! =]

Also, Stacia, doesn't it bug you that tangible copies are more expensive for the nook?? I don't think I could buy the tangible copy ever again because I know that I'm saving like five bucks every time I buy an ebook.. I wish the B&N membership applied to ebooks!!

Crescendo (Hush, Hush, #2) by Becca Fitzpatrick .. :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Mine Till Midnight (Hathaway Series #1) by Lisa Kleypas
So I started reading a book that's not YA or PNR, but I'm happy about it because it's like a "grown up" version of A Great and Terrible Beauty (Gemma Doyle trilogy). I know a few of you have read AGATB, so I'm mentioning it.

It's a historical romance set in Victorian England with a hero that's a Gypsy (almost just like AGATB, except without the magic). Except I might actually like the hero MORE than Kartik. How is this possible, you ask? This guy is like Kartik, except hotter and more sure of himself. Plus his name is Cam Rohan (another Cam!). He decided that he likes this girl that tries to dress like a lady but wears red ribbons on her bonnet (scandalous!), which makes her appeal to him. What does he do? He pulls her in for a kiss, and cuts the ribbon off her hat and steals it.

So pimp. No, really. He's a complete cocky bad-boy. Just how I like em.

I'm about halfway through and hoping that the rest of the book is just as good.

I haven't read AGATB but just the description of Cam you gave,

..."except hotter and more sure of himself."

sooo excited for Demonglass!!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) @ Carina,

The book was good. The hero was exactly what I would have pictured Kartik to be like if he had grown up, gained wealth and status, and decided to hang out in an adult romance. Cute love story, but the second half went into the hero pushing hard for marriage in between sex scenes. It's probably not the best rec for a YA group, but the first half was pretty chaste so it kind of snuck up on me. I figured there'd be a scene or two, but it got repetitive near the end. That said, I enjoyed the book as a whole and will probably read the rest of the series to find out what happens to the rest of the family.

@ Isa,

I'm STILL waiting for Hex Hall #1 at my library. It's been on hold for a long time now. If I get the dumb thing and like it, I'll be up for reading number 2 with you.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Okay, now that I scratched my adult romance itch for the week, I shall read a couple of YA's (one sci-fi/dystopian, one fantasy):

Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman (finally)
City of Masks (Stravaganza, Book 1) by Mary Hoffman

Poison Study was one of my favorite reads this year as well.

As for Moon Called (Mercy Thompson), I think it just barely got 3 stars from me. I liked the book, but didn't understand why SO many people feel this is one of the "best series ever." Book 1 was okay/decent, book 2 was slightly better, but I still wasn't having the "wow" feeling. At some point I will read the rest of the series just to see what all the fuss is about, but it shouldn't take more than 2 books for me to get excited about finishing the series.

I like/read a lot of Urban Fantasy too, so that wasn't the problem.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) @ Isa

How did you get my quote to say Lord of the Rings? That's kind of funny.

A couple of people recommended City of Masks to me a while back and I just never got around to reading it. It's about a cancer patient in today's world that uses some sort of magical book to go back in time to another realm (that's like Italy according to the book description), and when he's there he's not sick anymore. Then some sort of conflict happens that has to do with the two worlds colliding or something.

I'll let you know if it's any good when I'm done reading.
