message 5561: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (cattymccat) | 754 comments I just finished White Cat by Holly Black last night... I loved it! Wasn't Jace mentioned in it? I think I missed that part. Can someone refresh my memory?

I've started A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford & it's really good so far. Leah Clifford is SO nice on facebook (she actually talks back, which hardly any writers that I've found do)... And I'm only five chapters in, but so far, I'm really enjoying it.

A Touch Mortal by Leah Clifford

message 5562: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq I'm reading The Iron Thorn (Iron Codex, #1) by Caitlin Kittredge ... (liking it so far!)

@Catherine, Stacia put up a post as to where Jace is mentioned in one of the threads here... I'm combing through them and I really can't find it (yet). BUT I do remember it was Cassel's roommate sharing a story about Jace with Cassel.. Or maybe it was the other way around. You should read Red Glove too... Jace and Clary are mentioned in it. :)

message 5565: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) Reminds me I need to read Angel Burned, hha.

message 5566: by Carina (new)

Carina Wow it has been REALLY quiet lately ha. Well Ib don't know what u guys have been up to but ('ve been devouring the BDB series! I'm on to book 3 LOVER AWAKENED. I finished book 2 this afternoon and started book 3 right away, and can I just say.....Zsadist!!!

@Esra So to answer your question, YES! you should definetly start on this series. And I'm gonna tell you the same thing people told me. Book 1 is the weakest but from there on, man oh man, just look at me! I can't stop reading!!

Carina, if you could see me now... I'm grinning from ear to ear! I totally did what youre doing to BDB right now.. (read 'em back to back to back!)

And yeah, we have been kind of "quiet."

message 5568: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) @Carina it has been so quiet eh? xD nothing really to talk about..just wait until CoFA comes out!! woooo.

message 5569: by Carina (new)

Carina @britnee Its been quiet....too quiet hmmm....jk lol

@Isa Oh my God this book is GOOD!! Book 2 was soo good too, but the glimpses we got of Bella and Zsadist had me on edge, thats why as soon as I finished it I started on book 3. Its like I'm addicted already, I cant stop my self!!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I've been sort of quiet because I got asked to mod another group and so I've been reading a lot more adult fiction to keep up with what that group is into (it's not really a YA group, although there are some MI fans over there). So, I haven't had as much to contribute on the YA front as of lately because I haven't been reading as much YA. I know that it probably gets tedious with me always talking about adult series in here, when we're getting a lot of new members that appear to only read YA. I almost feel like I'm intruding as of lately...probably silly, but yeah...

@ Carina,

I think I read either the first 3 or 4 back to back and then took a break for a couple of months and read the rest of them in almost one straight shot. The last few sort of switch from a straight PNR to a PNR/UF hybrid, but I still really like where things are headed, especially with the Blay & Qhuinn story. You'll start seeing their feelings develop over the next couple of books.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) @ Isa,

Reporting back on Someone to Watch Over Me (Bow Street Runners, #1) by Lisa Kleypas . I liked it, but not as much as a Hathaways book. It was still historical romance, but instead of it being a more humorous historical romance, it was almost a suspenseful historical romance. Maybe because the guy was a cop and the woman was in danger and being pursued for the second half of the book. I'd say it was a 3.5 star read compared to the 4 plus star reads of Hathaways.

I'm just getting through this series because I want to go back and read her stuff in order. I hear her Wallflowers series is even better than the Hathaways one, so I'll be VERY excited to start that after I finish the next 2 bow street books and the Wallflowers prequel.

Just finished Wither (Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano and am going to try to finish The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness sometime in the next day or two and then start Masquerade (Blue Bloods, #2) by Melissa de la Cruz .

message 5572: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) YAY Masquerade! That cover is so ugly though *Cringe*

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I KNOW. It's so bad.

Oh and if you want it to not be quiet, start shilling Night Huntress as a must read. I'm sad that the Hunger Games thread is getting all the action. I love HG, but I love NH just as much.

Hi Stacia! the "reporting back" made me smile... as to The Knife of.. you really shouldnt push it! I know I had a hard time with it at first... so enjoy :) Now, to Kleypas.. I think I need some more of her stuff!

I'm with Brit on Masquerade (though I really liked book 3)

message 5575: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) It scares me. The version we have here is way better.

Okay, EVERYONE READ NIGHT HUNTRESS! NOW. Maybe its too sexified for them lol.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) To be fair, the sex doesn't happen until pretty far into the book, and most of it is action based. Now book 2 is another story...

Isa,

I really do keep hearing that her Wallflowers series is amazing. Every time I tell people I've only read Hathaways and not Wallflowers, they say, "oh, you're in for a treat. WF is even better!"

message 5577: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) True..

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost

message 5581: by Isamlq (new)

Isamlq Oh my.. you guys make me laugh!

@Brit, what Stacia says about you reminding her of BDB when you say "true" is just that... true! (I need a BDB fix soon... (book 9 comes out this month, I think!)

@Stacia, I am going to find a copy of all the Wallflower books today! excited!

message 5582: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I haven't even read BDB xD

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) BDB comes out on the 29th! Yay! I was also told that the chick who wrote the Demonica series is releasing her series on the same day featuring the HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE. Epic. I will be reading those.

message 5584: by Isamlq (last edited Mar 09, 2011 10:56PM) (new)

Isamlq Oh yeah! 29th... I am counting the days... As to the Horsemen of the Apocalypse (I hope the sex isn't as overdone as it was in Demonica.) Demonica could have been so good if not for books 1-3... 4 was good though.

@Brit, you must join BDB addicts such as myself, Stacia, Allison and now Carina..

And with that I say TTFN! Enjoy your reading guys!

message 5585: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Mar 09, 2011 11:00PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Timipre is a BDB fan too!

I didn't plan on reading Demonica because I generally don't like the whole Demons as heroes thing (even though I read the succubus series and I guess a succubus is a demon). Either way, I didn't read it, but I can't pass up the idea of Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

I felt the whole rider thing was pushed to the side in the YA series starting with Hunger (Horsemen of the Apocalypse, #1) by Jackie Kessler (reading the second one soon) Rage (Horsemen of the Apocalypse, #2) by Jackie Kessler in favor of talking about her eating disorder. I wanted more horseman goodness!

Anyway, have fun...talk to you later!

message 5586: by brittany (new)

brittany (cirilla) I think I'm the only one who thinks Demons are sexy.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) You will love Jerome and Carter in Georgina Kincaid. They're a demon and angel who are best friends (go figure, that makes NO sense). Carter is my current all time favorite angel. He leaves Cam and Patch in the dust for me.

Amy ~Lover of Books~ Britnee Bear wrote: "Reminds me I need to read Angel Burned, hha."

That was the first one I requested and got approved on netgalley. I have 40 something more days to read it along with 4 other galley books to read.

I can't wait til you get to the scene where someone writes something on a piece of paper. I know, that made no sense, but if I say any details it will spoiler it. You'll know what I mean when you are at that point.

It made me get a little teary.

message 5596: by Carina (new)

Carina @Stacia I shed a few tears at the end of book 2 over Rhage's sadness. And I think I know what note you're talking about. It breaks my heart, but I love Zsadist even more...

message 5597: by Isamlq (new)

Ok I know this might be random and I think I'm the only one excited for this but here it goes anyways.
Today is the release of Stolen Nights (Vampire Queen, #2) by Rebecca Maizel which is the sequel to Infinite Days (Vampire Queen, #1) by Rebecca Maizel . I am sooo excited to go and buy it!!

I havent read the first one yet! I saw your review... and the five star rating got me really curious :)

message 5600: by Carina (new)

Carina @Isa I think originally I had given it a 5 start rating but when I went throu my books I brought it down to 4. It was one of my first reads last year so I think I didn't have enough reading 'experience' so I gave it a 5. Not that its bad, dont get me wrong, but a 4 is more appropiate. Plus the covers are soooo gorgeous!!
