What are you reading right now?
After finishing Different Seasons I decided to take a King break and read through some of the freebies on my Kindle. (I admit, I also need to read some short stuff to catch up for my reading goal!) I'm reading Secret of the Sands which I got from the Kindle Lending Library. It's, um, not amazing. But it is fun, if you know what I mean. A nice light easy read after a bunch of heavy King stuff.
SInce I posted last, I have read, The Girl Who Fell from the Sky, We the Animals, Animal Farm and am presently readingPassing. I loved The Girl Who Fell From the Sky and We the Animals. Both quick reads and very thought provoking. Passing is also very short and is along the same lines as TGWFFTS - it's about race and identity, which, I supose We, the Animals was too, although that one was also a coming of age story but so was TGWFFTS. SOme good reads in there!
I just finished "The Help"...LOVED IT! Am waiting for some of my books I've won to come in the mail so I can jump into them:)

It was disturbing to say the least. It was okay. Can't say I enjoyed it an awfun lot, but i was thought provoking. It has been on my TBR list for a long time and I needed to read it and at least now I can cross it off! Can't say I'm enjoying Passing too much either.

Dustin, I like some of Ellis' other work better. I found AP entertaining but the violence got to be a bit too much of an assault on my senses.

Since you said you both like it, I put it on my TBR. It sounds really interesting.

It is, and fantasy is not usually my thing. Gaiman is fantastic.

I liked Drood, but LOVED The Terror. I also felt the same about Flashback.

That's a good one, Dustin!
Have you guys noticed a new King? Owen! I saw his book for sale at Amazon but can't remember the name of it. I believe it was a short story collection, but could be wrong.
Here it is: We're All in This Together: A Novella and Stories
Please forgive me if I've mentioned it before.
Gatorman wrote: "Just starting Dead Man's Song."I really enjoyed that one gator, I have just started the final book of the Pine Deep trilogy Bad Moon Rising!

I've known about Owen King for several years now, actually..:)

I downloaded BMR in anticipation of finishing DMS. Enjoy!

I second that. Or third it. Drood was very, very good. The Terror was even 100 times better than that. But Flashback was an all-time disappointment, not only because it was bad, but because of why it was so bad...Lots of Dan Simmons author-intrusion in there, and what he intruded to say wasn't all that great.
Drood is the first book by him I've read. It's really good so far. I can't wait to check out his other ones. I've read Ghost Road Blues and Dead Man's Song and I loved them! I can't wait to get the third on so I can read it. I can't wait to find out what happens!
I just finished It before I started reading Drood. It was awesome. I'm going to start 11/22/63 soon. Probably not until I read The DEad Zone again though.

Steven, I am with you there. At his website he says that the book doesn't reflect his personal politics, but I have a hard time believing that.
It sounds like you guys really didn't like that book. I think I might have to check it out and see if it's as bad as you guys say it is.
Reading some good old Philip K. Dick, just finished Galactic Pot Healer, reading now The World Jones Made, then onto The Game-Players of Titan.
I finished reading Songs Of The Humpback Whale last night and it was awful. Today I've started reading All We Know of Heaven by Jacquelyn Mitchard.
I'm about 75% into Seed and I can't say that I'm super impressed. Not sure what I'll start next. Probably another Kindle freebie.
I'm reading The Book Thief, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm a bit more than 60% into it, and the next two book I'll read will be The Handmaid's Tale and whatever the group read book will be for March.
I'm going to be reading The Book Thief soon. When I bought it the cashier at the store said it's really good and that it's one of this favorites.
Gwen wrote: "I'm about 75% into Seed and I can't say that I'm super impressed. Not sure what I'll start next. Probably another Kindle freebie."You're very close to a KICK BUTT ending, Gwen. Hang on!

Have you read A Scanner Darkly?

Yeah, I read it for class in high school right before the movie came out, and I have the movie. The teacher stopped teaching it after the movie came out. Its one of my favorite books.
Well, I finished The Exorcist a couple days ago. Maybe my expectations were too high going in...because I was disappointed. There was very little depth beyond that portrayed in the movie. The beginning was slow, boring, and annoying.About 2/3 of the way done with "Twenty Weeks". Mixed impression on that one, so far.
I read a collection of short horror stories "Aberrations" and a few of those were very worthwhile, some, not so much. That's pretty standard (for me, at least) with a collection written by different authors.
I went on an ebook buying spree after we got our income tax refund, so am set for those. No new paperbacks, so I guess I'm all ebooks for awhile, unless I reread.
Just finished reading Pebble Cove By Mairead O'Driscoll and I just started The Death of Dalziel By Reginald Hill
just finished The Passage ... it was so-and-so I think.... Far from the best vampire novel I've read, and even further from the bets post-apocalyptic novel I've read....Don't really know what to start now, I'm more than open for suggestions ;)

Thank you, I appreciate that.:)
I love the novel, as well.
Finished The Damnation Game today. I enjoyed it - it was really gory lol.Just started Boy's Life. It's my second McCammon, even though Swan Song is one of my favourite novels. I don't know why it's taken me so long to read anything else by him, but I'm really looking forward to this one.
