What I read so far, King has certainly put more of the horror side into the story with the vampires, the people helping the birth. I'm just starting the Blue Heaven, those two in there are quite on the strange side. This book overall is more strange than anything else, but this expected coming from Stephen King.

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments I'm working on The Waste Lands (Dark Tower 3) by Stephen King, Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and The Hobbit by Tolkien.

message 555: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I just started listening to The Shining and I'm working on Full Dark, No Stars. I've read The Shining a lot of times, but I've never listened to the audio. It's pretty good so far.

I'm also starting Wolves of the Calla.

message 561: by Susanna (new)

Susanna (jb_slasher) It's been something like fifteen years so I thought a re-read was in order. Cujo , anyone? Uncle Stephen has me scared of the closet again.

Not busy enough.....I've been working on Les Miserables for a year and a half! lol

message 565: by Dustin (new)

Dustin ReallY!?! Is it a difficult read?

message 566: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments Dustin wrote: "ReallY!?! Is it a difficult read?"

It's very dense! At over 1400 pages, there is a lot of history and politics that just go right over my head! lol. I love the story part, but definitely find myself having to take breaks from it here and there.

message 567: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Yeah, I just clicked on its title and noticed the length. WOW. That's longer than The Stand, Unabidged!
The story and characters seem interesting, though....I just might have to read it. Someday...

message 568: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Les Mis is one that I hope to get to this year. I downloaded it to read on my nook, so I'm hoping that will help me read it sooner.

The Count of Monte Cristo was the same way. It was 1300+ pages. I loved it, but I couldn't take it with me anywhere!

message 569: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) | 665 comments I'm just so frustrated because I do love the story! I've seen the play 5 times and do love it when the story does come up in the book. It's just the politics and history that really slow me down.
