Linda (beaulieulinda117gmailcom) | 1115 comments I'm currently reading Gone (Gone, #1) by Michael Grant by Michael Grant. The story has a good story line like a YA version of Under the Dome. But on the same page the spelling errors are horrendous, I'm finding it very frustrating.

I'm also reading Slice by William Patterson by William Patterson in paperback, as I can't use my tablet outside. This book is very good so far, it has some supernatural aspects to it.

Aw, that's wonderful! Hopefully you can copies of them soon. I don't think I'd realized that you're in India..

What do I enjoy about Lee Child's style? For me, there's something indescribable about his short, choppy sentences. Granted, it's not grammatically correct, but I think I love it simply because it's different.. you know? And the characterization of Jack Reacher is amazing, IMO. I really admire his take-nothing-from-nobody mindset.

Aditya Dustin wrote: "Aw, that's wonderful! Hopefully you can copies of them soon. I don't think I'd realized that you're in India.."

Yeah I got hold of all of them, gonna start them within the weekend..there is simply no good literature available in my country (at least in English) so i naturally stick to American best sellers to get a good read.

I felt Lee Child's plots are even more ridiculous than the way he writes.I am happy that you enjoy him but he is simply not my cup of tea.If I may I will suggest Lincoln Child & his collaborations with Douglas Preston, their recurring protagonist Pendergast is much more enjoyable than Jack Reacher.

Yay, I'm so glad you got a hold of them, Aditya! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on them!

Yep. To each their own. I actually haven't experienced Preston & Child (yet,) but they come highly recommended by several GR friends. I want to start with Relic, since it's the 1st book, and go from there. Thank you!

Angela (asheck) | 9 comments So, I've been mostly a lurker here and really appreciate all the great reading suggestions.

I'd love to hear your advice: I've never read any of the Harry Potter series. Should I? Are they worth it, or highly overrated?

If you go in with a high expectation you may be disappointed..as far as YA novels are concerned they are good but I did not really think they are as special as many make them out to be.I know this may come out as a personal blow to Potter fans but the books don't justify the hype

I must add I don't like YA novels in general so you should get a second opinion. The protagonist Potter was simply too good (& wimpy) for my choice.I felt specially at the culmination of the series he could have benefited with a bit of a mean streak.

Sorry for the long post but read them if you have nothing better to do but don't go out of your way to get them.

I agree to each their own.If you get the time start with Relic it is their best IMO, hope you enjoy them.

Thanks for the post, Aditya. This was my fear exactly. I am a big fan of the Sword of Shannara books and was afraid that these just would not live up to my expectations. I've had a hard time getting into the whole Game of Thorns series as well. My stack of books to read is quite tall as it is. There's plenty to read, so I'll not waste my time.

Thanks for the feedback.

Aditya Dustin wrote: "You really think that Relic's their best? I think I will enjoy them, if only because of Pendegast's great character.."

I think Relic is the best,if you like it go on till Book no 7 of the series (The Book of the Dead) which completes an interesting story arc since then the series has gone downhill.Lately though the series is laughably bad,the only reason I read it is because of Pendergast, an unique character if there ever was one.
