High Stakes, Desperate Duchesses, Wicked Becomes You, Kiss of Midnight, Real Vampires Have Curves... just to name a few. All of these were poorly written, painful, and sometimes cheesy.

I agree with My Sister's Keeper. I do not like Piccoult's writing style at all, I don't see the appeal.

HA! I lovedddddddd Real Vampires Have Curves! IT'S SO FUNNY! not a favorite, in any way, but its just HILARIOUS AND HOT! I LOVE IT
HoN, too, was a disappointment. I liekd the first four, maybe, and then the series went downhill. I'm done with them.

The only book that I actively detest is: Rhapsody: Child of Blood, that book just wound me up, I was actually angry with it as I was reading it! There are other books that I don't particularly like or are indifferent to, but that is the book that makes me cringe just thinking about it!

Oh well! :) It had potential IMO, she needs a better editor though. How were the other books in the series?

I gave up reading Danielle Steel many years ago, when I spent most of the book crying my eyes out. To depressing.

I also really can't understand the appeal of Janet Evanovich, although I've only tried to read a couple of her books after SO many women suggested her to me. I didn't get past the second chapter with any of them.
The Ten Best Days of My Life by Adena Halpern was another recent one. Such a nice idea for a book that just failed miserably (IMO) by being overly superficial.

I agree. I couldn't even get through Narcissus in Chains. That book put me to sleep.

How many Anita Blake books are there now? I've read like the first 3 or 4 (been awhile since I read one) I'm afraid to find that this series has like 15 books. How can one person live through that many situations in her line of work? Does it really get bad?

Wow it scared me! It was a diary from a girl who used drugs and traveled across the continent. It was good to read about drugs, so I can inform others about the negative effects of them.

The Twilight Books: I know it has its staunch (to say the least!) defenders, but for me... just ugh. I read them, as I don't think it's fair to hate on something you don't completely know, but wish I hadn't. IMO, it could have been a decent story line, but the execution is poor. I also kind of hate all the really bad books that it has unintentionally spawned.

Any book w/ a heroine with Jones as a last name is generally horrible."
I agree, one of the worst I have read this year. Also hated The Strain - The Strain

I just kept waiting for the writing to get better and the plotline to make more sense and it didn't happen. I own the third book in the series and I will probably never read it.
I also wish I never read Vampire Acadamy. It was pretty bad. I really didn't like it.

and unfortunately Marked was a gift to me so I started the serie and I decided to leave it when I started to read Chosen but then I force myself for finish the series so I read the Untamed so I liked it again I think if you left the serie cause of the Choosen you should read Untamed because I finished Burned and I really like this series again.
but of course I think a series should be at least 3 at most 5 books.

Really, you didn't like Vampire Academy?!! I'm shocked.

I'm right there with you Samantha, The House of Night books were good but I stopped on book 4 because I couldn't take them anymore. By the way, how did your sister's cake go?

House of Night books are variable I think. Because when I read Chosen I said that Ok I'm gonna leave it. but I force myself and keep going to read and I got the sixth and seventh book and read them and now I like the series again:) but I hope the series wont go too much:)
Elise, why didnt you like Vampire Academy?. I think Vampire Academy better than Twilight series...but of course I respect your opinion:)

Samantha you should see my room! I'm shocked that my parents haven't made me clean it yet but I'm sure they will soon lol. Good luck at you university! I'll be going next year. Will you be living in the dorms?

by the way I'm 19:)

Elise, when I started to read second vampire academy book well it just force me because of Dimitri's relationship:) and I left the paranormal books for a while so I found VA and I could read it but I understand you:)

Elise, I felt that way aboutCity of Bones. I really wanted to like it but it just didn't cut it. Do you like reading Paranormal Romance?

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
1984 by George Orwell.
The truth is that I did finish them although I didn't like them.
Enjoy your reading
Avigail

Sashana - Oh I love City of Bones! The whole Mortal instruments series was wonderful in my opinion. What didn't you like about it?
I don't mind reading Paranormal Romance but I haven't read a lot of it.
Another book I wish I hadn't read is 20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill. He is one of my favourite authors but this collection of short stories just didn't do it for me.
