I'm huge on character development and that usually doesn't start to really kick in until the 2nd book in a series.
And then by the end of the series, you love all the characters and think about them as if they were real. :)
I'm interested to hear how you like book #2. Lemme know. :)

On the negs, it was in major need of an editor, but that's to be expected with a self-published book. And I wasn't super crazy about Katie & Travis--I wanted it, but when it finally happened, something about it felt lacking to me. Travis just doesn't feel 3D to me, I wish he were fleshed out more. I know the books are about girl power, but that doesn't mean the guys have to be flat sideline characters, kwim?

I see what you're saying about Travis. I didn't get that feeling though. Maybe I was just too into the chicks to think too much on it, dunno. Movie? FOR SURE! That'd be awesome! Hope you enjoy #3. It's a doozy!

Valorie, how'd you like "Beyond the Highland Mist"? I haven't read that series, but love her "Fever" series. I'm not much of a historical lover though, so I wasn't sure about starting that one.
Valorie, I'm interested to hear, too!!That was one of my first PNR series, and I loved it! (I also like historicals though) Which is why I snapped up the first of the Fever series. Fever is quite a bit different, but the fae world is basically carried over, but a bit darker, and we see a couple of the druids in Fever, too.
I actually really enjoyed it. I'm not really big fan of historical either, but I do like time travel, especially when it's a modern day woman sent back in time. I liked that it included fae characters also. It had a smart, witty, strong heroine and the romance between the hero and heroine was great. A really good read!

Only 1 left to go. I have Estep's Web of Lies in my TBR, so hopefully I'll get to it this month. I read a food related mystery, but it doesn't have any paranormal element.Although it doesn't show up very well in this picture, Grimspace's cover actually had very colorful markings on SJ's arm.
