@Traci - That one looks promising too.
@Mach - saw the movie :P"
I know you didn't just diss Pratchett, Ala...

Never read him.
But there's no chance in hell I'm starting another series with dozens of books right now. I've got enough series I need to get back to already...

*Hi five!*

I have both of those books, but they don't have the editions that I have, so I been not reading them even though I would like to.

@Kevin, why can't you read your book and just pick a random edition for your goodreads library (assuming I understood your post)

I like to have the exact edition that I am reading, if I am to read a book, so I can post the exact number I am on. Plus, I wish I had the patients to add editions of books that Goodreads is missing.

You still haven't gotten to those yet?
I am dissapoint.

I'm with you Kevin. And I do add the edition that I'm reading if it's not already on Goodreads. I became a Goodreads librarian specifically so that I could combine newly-added editions with the other editions of the same book.
So if you ever need an edition added or combined with others, you know who to ask. :)
Also, I am currently reading Sabriel. So far, I am unimpressed, but I am still pretty early in the book. (And yes, that link to the book does lead to actual edition that I am reading, of course.)

I am currently reading Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde. (There's a series which is meant to be pretty funny, Ala, if you like wordplay.)

I call shenanigans on this statement. You shelve multiple copies of the same book all the time. I've even asked you about it in the past.

I started and then got distracted by a different shiny book. :(

Haven't read it but Poul Anderson and Larry Niven are two of my favorite authors. =)
I try to shelve the edition I'm reading but my point was it's silly IMHO to not read a book because gr doesn't have the exact copy you are reading. Even when they do it can be wrong. Gr says my book I'm reading now is 400 pages long but it's actually 375. And ebooks really mess you up.

Haven't read it but Poul Ander..."
You can post a request to the librarians to have the page count adjusted. As long as your ISBN/edition matches the entry you are requesting to be changed (and WorldCat agrees with your book) it should be no problem.
Ignore Kevin. I doubt that he's not reading a book based on GR editions. Kevin mis-shelves/double & triple shelves books all the time.

I read the first, but haven't gone back for the rest of that series yet.
Someday, someday...

I have to check that out, I have a handful of his books.

I'm currently reading (almost finished now) the first book of The Hunger Games trilogy. Not my usual preference, got it from the library rather than buying because it sounded a bit more grim than I usually enjoy. Have to say although it is certainly not a 'sweetness and light' book, it manages not to be depression while still fitting into the world in which it occurs. I'm sorry I'm 6th on the list for the next two at the library, but this is one I need to read first ... it could get more grim, which would keep it from being a re-read for me.
Thanks to Goodreads (okay, I splurged ... I did TWO book orders so far this month ... NOT good!).
So far have read Hounded by Kevin Hearne. A fun read and looks like it will end up being a series that stays on my bookshelves. I have to admit, though, that my favorite character in the book is the wolfhound, Oberon. I DO like his obsession about a harem of black French poodles!
Katherine Kerr's "License to Ensorcell was in the order as well and another I enjoyed very much. (More coming in this series as well)

It took me awhile to fall asleep last night and dark scenes from The Warded Man were floating around in my brain. *needs a palate cleanser*

Mrs. Joesph, I don't double shelf. I shelf all the editions of a book that I have. I have multiple copies of books like Ender's Games, which I have over 20 copies, 2 of them signed by Orson Scott Card.

Good to know!

Dude, seriously. You don't have to lie to kick it.
I've even asked you about it before. That time your answer was "I don't know."

Oooh, tell me how that book is. Sounds interesting.

Haven't read it ..."
My double of books is how I categories a book. Its like when people like to have put all the books they read in certain genres like woman writers or 18th century authors.

I wasn't overly impressed, it's readable but (I thought) not great.

And... I've just realized that I don't have a lot of funny books. I mean, there are books that I find funny, but it's mostly dark, dry kinds of humor... or humor coupled along with saving the world and shit.
