My sister-in-law is from CO. The family goes to Cripple Creek a few times a year. It is still intact as an old time town and now has gambling. But they have all the info on the history there and I think they have a few websites. If you check the photos out there you will see it is definitely stuck in time. Hope that helps. Cant wait to read your books when they come out.

Cripple Creek, along with Central City & Blackhawk used to be pristine little towns from the past. IMHO, gambling has taken a lot away from all 3. Can't remember the last time I've been to any of them, other than to drive through on the way to somewhere else. I don't gamble much, but when I do I like to go to Vegas to do it!

Thanks, Katy . I'll check it out. FYI, Hattie Davish #1, a Lack of Temperance, is out but is set in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Thanks, Melodie. I'll look into these too. Luckily I just need a good representation of the past.

thanks! i will check it out. always love new series. good luck and i know in that area you will be able to find something.

Some of my favorite authors are
S.J. Bolton, Deborah Crombie, Michelle Wan, Kate Atkinson, Sara Foster, Hannah Richell, Nora Ephron, Melissa Banks, Caroline Graham, and many others!

Hahaha! I am also from exurbs of Boston & used to play the clarinet:)

My name is Maria. I live in Queens, NY very near Manhattan (The Big Apple). I too love meeting the characters in cozies. I also enjoy the descriptions of the locations where the books take place.

Anna, I suggest you read Ann Parker's mystery series set in Leadville in the late 1800s for ideas.

Great idea! Thanks, Beth.

I have expanded a lot since then and now I also have a ton of cozies that I've bought and haven't read yet. I'm really looking forward to starting the Kate Collins flower shop mysteries as those are set in a town in Indiana not far from me, but they're still in the pile right now.
I also like some vampire stuff, I read the Laurell K. Hamilton vampire series (completely not cozy), and also police/psychological mysteries like Jonathan and Faye Kellerman's stuff.
I joined goodreads to organize my books since I kept buying duplicates. I still have a ton to enter! But I'm also looking forward to getting some good book suggestions.

I love to read all genres of books but cozies are a favorite. After reading a suspense filled thriller, it's always nice to relax with a good cozy! :)
Looking forward to being part of this group and discovering new cozy authors.

Becky, I know Lois Winston, as a fellow Midnight Ink author, and enjoy her books, and having read Gone Girl, I can tell you that you'll probably love it!

Becky, I'll be interested to see what you think of Gone Girl. I posted my own thoughts on it, but I'd recommend not reading any reviews until you finish the book. It's definitely not cozy, but as a cozy writer myself, I enjoy a little change once in a while.

I live near Tampa Fl, but lived in Reno NV when I was a teenager.
My debut novel, Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder is set in Reno. Not trying to push my book on you, but since you love a good mystery--mine might be something you'd enjoy reading
Wouldn't hurt to check out the link right?

I've also read another Henry Press, Other People's Baggage - an anthology of three novellas - two are 'prequels' to firsts-in-series: Switch Back is the prequel to Board Stiff, and Fool's Gold, the prequel to Artifact. I have Bored Stiff on order, and I'll be ordering Artifact soon, based on how much I enjoyed the novella.

My de..." Welcome to another Christie lover! there are many of us here...
do hope your new book takes off, MaryAnn, and as a cozy ebook writer myself, I don't mind you putting a plug in at all.

I live in Florida, but grew up in Wisconsin and went to school there and in NJ and NY. I've written about all of these experiences. One was even a cozy my husband and I co-wrote. That's us line dancing at our daughter's wedding!
Looking forward to being in this group.

Why are cozies so addictive? I look forward to finding out.

Victoria, I have also read everything by Christie and Sayers - and MM Kaye, which I loved at the time but had forgotten about! thanks for listing her to followers of this group so they can enjoy her also.
by chance, since you mention Jane Austin, have you read Stephanie Barron's mysteries which are fiction but feature Jane as the heroine who solves the mysteries? I enjoyed them very much.

I look forward to having a nice time.
