My name is Lynn and I love to read mysteries. My favorite genre is the cozy mystery. I do like police procedurals too. Currently my favorite cozies are by MC Beaton, Ellery Adams(Books By the Bay), Charlotte MacLeod, Paige Shelton(Country Cooking School),Mary Daheim(Emma Lord)and Susan Wittig Albert(The Darling Dahlias) When I get too cozied, I will read a Myron Bolitar by Cohen or an Elvis Cole by Crais. Would read a British police procedurals at this time too.
Looking forward to reading information in this cozy group. It is nice to be with other cozy readers too!

My name is Alicia and me and my mom are just starting a book blog dedicated to reviewing Cozy Mysteries! I have read a couple Cozies and really enjoyed them so I saw this as a great way to star..."
I will check it out, Alicia!

I love that series, Katrina! I haven't read the most recent books, but I read many of them. I love that so much happens in the post office, ha!

I know that feeling, Katrina! Plus I'm a writer...so I am terrible about reading other's books instead of writing mine-but it's so tempting, ha! :)

Robin, I SOOOOO share your pain! I'd much rather read a fully fleshed out story than the bits and pieces that need cobbled together for mine! what are you writing?

I'm writing the sequel to my women's fiction novel, The Shell Keeper. It's fun-set in the wine country of Colorado-and I love my characters...but reading isn't work, ha! What are you working on, Jayne?

I bought that book a few years ago but gave it to my Mom before I read it. I'm going to have to go and get myself another copy. This series has always intrigued me.
Wow - all you writers - I'm so impressed. One of these days . . . . .

I love being a part of this group -- it's such a fun way to meet my fellow cozy mystery aficionados. Your reviews and observations have a great deal of influence on me, and I often add to my TBR pile based on someone's positive comments. There are so many fabulous cozies out there, and unfortunately not enough time . . .
If you live in snowy New England like me, have a safe weekend ~

I'm really looking forward to this group's recommendations on what to read.

Welcome, Richard! I'm sure this group will fill your bookcase with possibilities!

I've been looking at your book on Amazon, Richard! Has popped up as a recommendation more than once. May have to go ahead and pull the trigger! Welcome!

I started with Janet Evonavich's Stephanie Plum and never looked back!
In interest of full disclosure - I also wrote one (we write what we read!) but promise to not use this group to self promote.

I'm an avid reader of mysteries and international intrigue. Was an early adopter of ebooks when I discovered I could reduce my luggage weight.
In the spirit of disclosure, I am a debut author - but not promoting here. Because of my self-publishing research, I just discovered Goodreads. I plan to spend some time updating my book shelf with all the good stuff I've read. And I look forward to discovering new interest here.

These two books are available Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16 on Kindle. Please try them and review. I've been told the second one, "Game, Set, Murder" is more gripping than the first. Let me know what you think.

This sounds like a great group. I'm glad I found it.

Hi, all,
I'm Katherine. My first love is Golden Age British detective fiction—what I call my "dead Englishwomen": Dorothy Sayers, Margery Allingham, Patricia Wentworth, Ngaio Marsh, Josephine Tey. I'm a stickler for good writing and a properly crafted plot, so a lot of contemporary cozies disappoint me. I do like the Maisie Dobbs series, which may not be technically "cozy" since Maisie is a pro. If anyone knows other writers you think I might like, please let me know!

That looks like my list of favorites!! Have you read Kate Ross - historical fiction mysteries set in Regency England (mostly although one book is in Italy)?

I recently discovered the Goodreads website and am just losing my mind exploring it. A book lover's dream come true and I try to sign on whenever I have the time and add books I've read & ones I want to read. My to-read list is sooo huge but brings me great joy!
I do love cozies, along with mysteries of all types so this book group really appeals to me. Some of my favorite cozy authors include Diane Mott Davidson, Lillian Jackson Braun (my cat, Cody, insists upon reading these!), Joanna Fluke, and especially Cleo Coyle since I think coffee is as important as chocolate in one's life in order to enjoy a good mystery!
I read a lot across many genres and some of my favorite authors include Nevada Barr, Dana Stabenow, Charlaine Harris, Patricia Briggs, Louise Erdrich, and James Rollins to name just a few. About the only genre of book I do not particular get excited about are biographies and nonfiction.
This is the first book club I've ever belonged to and I am looking forward to making some new friends and discovering some great books!
Hi, I am Evgeny from Montreal. When I was in high school, I discovered Agatha Christie (and almost failed my finals as a result). Since when I was a big fan of good mysteries.
I hope to find other mystery writers in this group, as well as have discussions on this.

What are the names of some of the authors you like?

Welcome, Jan - sounds like we have some likes in common. I just finished the latest Mercy Thompson over the weekend, and my least favorite genres include biographies, nonfiction and horror. My family also lived in Colorado (Brush/Otis) for a few years when we were kids, before moving back to Wisconsin. Have only been back there once since, for a conference in Denver about a decade ago.

I'm Celine, I joined Goodreads a few years ago but wasn't really active until a few months ago. I joined this group to see if anyone has some good recommendations for mystery novels, since I've been reading fantasy/YA for a while now and thought I'd go back to mystery, which I also love!

great mystery writers like Dick Frances, Rex Stout, and others are usually not considered cozies, as well as Patricia Cornwall, for example, because their stories are more intense.
is that more advice that you bargained for? :]
Welcome, Celine. A good place to look for new authors is the "Featured Author" section of the group, the "What Cozy Mystery are you currently reading? " discussion in the Cozy Corner, or just browse the group bookshelf.

Jan, if you enjoy reading Colorado mystery authors, besides myself (my outdoorsy RM Outdoor Adventures series is similar to Dana Stabenow's and early Nevada Barr books), I recommend Laura DiSilverio, Margaret Coel, Christine Goff, Mike Befeler, Kathy Brandt, and Robert Spiller.
Katherine, I recommend Rhys Bowen's historical mystery series to you.

Hi Beth, Jan and others who read about mysteries set in Colorado. I'd like to set one of my Hattie Davish mysteries in Colorado. As the books are set in the late 19th century, I'm looking for a town that still has a lot of intact Victorian era architecture. I went to Leadville when I was a teenager but don't know what it's like today. Any suggestions?
