Jrr Hi, I a new member of the group, and I consistently read 2-3 mysteries per week. Keep one going in the car, and a couple at home. My source for reviews is Marilyn Stasio, who writes the Crime reviews for the New York Times. Consistently good stuff!

Julie

message 1207: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (amandaig) Hi - I'm Amanda. I'm from NJ and mom to Anthony (4) and Victoria (8mos). I've been on GR for quite a few years but recently renewed my addiction to it, and came across this group. I love any kind of mystery - cozy, thriller, detective, historical, etc. I love any book in a series because I love to follow the characters. My favorite series is probably Aunt Dimity. My new years resolutions have nothing to do with weight loss goals and everything to do with how many books I will read over the year!

message 1208: by Lori (new)

Lori Henrich Hi Kyle I am a big mystery buff too!! I love them and have ever since I could read Nancy Drew. I think that at least 90 percent of the books that I have are mysteries. It is a good way to escape.

message 1210: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3 comments Hi all, I'm Rachel. I'm from Ireland but currently at uni in California. Mysteries seem to be all I read these days... can't put them down! I'm hoping to get a lot of new books added to my "to read" list; v excited!

message 1211: by Lori (new)

Lori Henrich I Rachel, I'm Lori and believe me you will get Ideas - when I joined and put in my books I went from a total of about 450 total books (both read and to-read) to over 1200. There are so many books on my shelves now that it will take me the rest of my life to read them - what a way to go. This site is great for new ideas.
Welcome Aboard - and Happy Reading!!!

message 1212: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3 comments Thanks Lori, I wouldn't mind having a lifetime of books to read! Bit hard for me to find time to read at the moment with school and work, but I make whatever time I can. V cloudy and grey here at the moment; perfect weather for curling up with coffee and a good mystery!

message 1213: by Lori (new)

Lori Henrich Sunny and 70 something here - going to the library to get a book I wanted. It's a mystery that I heard about on this sight. Hope you have a good day.

Beth | 616 comments Welcome to Amanda, Kyle, and Rachel!

Amanda,
Since I live in Colorado near Nancy Atherton, so I've had the chance to meet her at a library event where we both signed books. She's as sweet as her Aunt Dimity stories!

Kyle,
I love Deaver's writing, too, though I his Lincoln Rhymes series is too rough for me. I just finished his James Bond book, Carte Blanche, though, and really liked it. I think you would, too.

Rachel,
The last time I visited Ireland was when my now-23-year-old daughter was a baby. I think it's time for me to go back!

message 1219: by Debra (new)

Debra Brown (debrabrown) Hello, I am Debra Brown. I grew up reading, of course, Nancy Drew, like all the other bookworm girls. As an adult, I love Agatha Christie mysteries, especially her Poirot. I write historical mystery, too. My first, The Companion of Lady Holmeshire, is kind of a mix of Jane Austen and Charles Dickens with mystery, so a light mystery. My second will be much more "mysterious" feeling. I'll enjoy meeting mystery readers and authors here!

message 1220: by Amy (new)

Amy | 1 comments Hi, My I'm Amy and I'm from a small town in North-central Ohio. I have always loved a good mystery and just this past Sunday a good friend of mine gave me a name for a new (to me), cozy mysteries! I've never heard of this sub-category before, and in poking around the internet I realized, these are my people! My favorite series for the last couple of years has been Martha Grimes', Richard Jury. Melrose Plant and his drinking buddies are my fave friends to "come home" too!

Naomi (tribalcat) | 307 comments Hi there, everyone! My name is Naomi, and I'm currently living in Southern California but wishing I were somewhere in the Pacific Northwest. I'd trade all the people and cars and noise and concrete for trees and wildlife and the quiet of small towns any day. I grew up reading Agatha Christie and Nancy Drew, but I never heard the term "cozy mystery" until just a few years ago, and I'm hooked! My favorite cozy authors include Christie (of course!), Diane Mott Davidson, Janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton, and Juliet Blackwell, though there are many more that I read. One funny thing is that my 78-year old former Marine father also enjoys Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. Grandma Mazur is his favorite character :)

I only recently found out about the genre 'Cozy mysteries' and fell in love with many series already! Janet Evanovich's Step.Plum to begin with, Shirley Damsgaard, Victoria Laurie, Madelyn Alt, Joanne Fluke (I only read the first but I have the rest already waiting in my shelf and intend to keep them!)and so many more!

Kathleen Delaney (goodreadscomdelaney) | 6 comments I'm Kathleen Delaney and I write the Ellen McKenzie cozy mystery series. I've loved cozys as long as I can remember, so I guess it was natural that was what I chose to write. I live in Gaffney, SC in a 100+year old house, with my 2 dogs. Have 5 grown children, 8 grandkids, so the upstairs bedrooms are often occupied. Love to cook and used to be quite a gardner. However, I lost my left leg a couple of years ago, and while I do lots of things, gardening is no longer one of them. Know I'm going to love this group and will find lots of new books to read and will tell you about some of my own favorites. am currently reading Mignon Ballard's newst, Miss Dimple Disappears. Delightful. Jim and Joyce Lavene's newest " Touch of Gold" is on the top of my TBR pile and can't wait. Visit me on line www.kathleendelaney.net Thanks.

The latest is Murder Half Baed. It's on this list with reviews attatched, and I hope you take a look and maybe you'll enjoy these books as much as the other one. I'll keep my fingers crossed
