May - Pick It For Me! Challenge

Here are your recs! Forgive any typos. I’m half-asleep, but I wanted to post this before going to bed. LOL.
From your TBR list:
1) The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - Stieg Larsson ..."
Thankyou for the recs, I will definitely read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and I am hoping to get Grave Sight or The Gargoyle :)
Here are yours Harper :)
TBR:
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - I loved this book and I think you'll like it based on other books you've read
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - this to me is a must read.
Tess d'Urberville by Thomas Hardy - one of my favourites of his.
If You Could See Me Now by Cecelia Ahern - this is such a sweet book I loved it.
New:
Glass Houses by Rachel Caine - good paranormal book
The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky - one of my favourite YA books
The Eyes of Darkness by Dean Koontz - I noticed you have quite a few suspense novels on your list and that you enjoyed a Koontz book, this is a brilliant read in my opinion :)
Touch the Dark by Karen Chance - not a favourite of mine, I gave it 3 stars but you seem to like your UF and Erotica and I think this fits into both these genres.
Hope you like something here :)

I haven't read many books on your ebay list, but the ones I have I would recommend are:
The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever - Julia Quinn: At age 10, Miss Miranda Cheever, who shows no signs of becoming a great beauty, falls in love with Nigel, Viscount Turner. Ten years later, they meet again, and nothing will stop Miranda from finally being with the (now tortured) man who won her heart.. I really loved this book... Miranda doesn't let anything stop her, and she gets her HEA:-)
Married to the Viscount- Sabrina Jeffries: I enjoy most of SJ's books, and this one was no exception:-)
For the Roses - Julie Garwood: I haven't read it yet, but it is on my TBR, and it looks like an amazing story.. I've heard good things about it, and had it recommended to me a couple times..
New:
Decadent - Shayla Black - I saw you read a couple "menage" books, and I thought this one was pretty hot.. Kimber wants to learn the arts of menage to impress her "perfect" (but assholic, if that's a word) crush.. So she goes to the man who's had a secret "thing" for her since she was 17, ex-bodygard Deke, who introduces her to the joys of menage with his (hot, so hot!!) cousin Luc..
The Mercenary - Cherry Adair - You and I both recommended it to Yz, and I am now recommending it to you... I loved all of Adair's books, and this was the first I read...
All U Can Eat or Personal Assets - Emma Holly : ok.. I know this is a romance challenge, but both these books by Emma Holly are hoooot (although they are a tad smutty, lol).. I put them as one cause they're both "erotic"
Naughty or Nice - Melanie George - Not only does she have a kick-ass name (wink), but she wrote a wonderful flawed and tortured hero, who meets the one woman who can save him from his inner demons... Loved this book!
Midnight Run - Lisa Marie Rice - I saw you were reading the first book of the series, and I think my favorite was the second, so I have to recommend it! Claire, the heroine, decides to fully enjoy life, starting with her hot bodyguard "Bud" (hate the name, love the man!)
The Duke - Gaelen Foley - The first of GF's Knight Miscellany series, and one of the best HR books I've ever read!!! Bel was so touching, and so perfect for Robert! I can't recommend it enough!! Yz, for you too!!
Anyhow, I hope you find something you'll enjoy here! Sorry for the mess I caused! If you would prefer a more specific genre, let me know, and I'll recommend some :-) BTW, I stole some of your books for my TBR ;-p

TBR:
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - I loved this book and I think you'll like it based on other books you've read
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - this to me is a must read."
Pollyanna, since both you and my other partner recommended it as a must-read, I think I'm going to go with The Hunger Games. :) I did add a couple of the new ones you recommended to my TBR pile, though. It's getting so big. LOL.
Let me know what you think about "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and "The Gargoyle," if you get to it. The Harper Connelly series is pretty solid and it's only five books. I really liked some of the characters in that series.

So pleased you have gone with The Hunger Games, I would be surprised if you are disappointed by it :)

From your TBR list:
Dark Lover by JR Ward
Nightlife by Rob Thurman
Last Chance Saloon by Marian Keyes
Shopaholic Sister by Sophie Kinsella
(hopefully)New to you:
Soulless by Gail Carriger
Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz
Vision in White by Nora Roberts
Well, I hope that something on here trips your trigger and you enjoy it. For me, they were all varying degrees of good and it just depends on what sort of mood you're in. :^D

From you TBR:
Undead and Unwed- very cute and quick read!
High Stakes- I loved this seri..."
Well, great suggestions Gus :)
I spent a few days trying to see if I could get my hands on one of the new to me recs... since I don't seem to be able to find them available I think I am going to go with Undead and Unwed, I have really been wanting to try this series for a long time and this is a great reason to do it.
-Thank you

"
Thank you, Annvelwis! I'm glad you're an addict. You should have your other recommendations by Sara tomorrow, to keep you from withdrawal.^.^
Gigi, i'm sorry you got caught in the mess that was my brain last night.LOL
Thank you, for making recommendations for her though. I really appreciate you taking the time. *hugs*

I took a look at your TBR pile and came up with a few books that I hope you enjoy! If none of them interest you - let me know.

Yz, thanks for coming with such a great alternative!
I'm glad You, Melanie and Yz were able to work out an alternative that works for all of you. Melanie, next time just try to make sure your notification settings are either instant or in digest for once a week.

Emily - thanks for the suggestions. I'm probably going to go with Dark Lover. I'm going to keep my eyes open for Soulless and Book Thief in used bookstores though, they both sound pretty interesting.
Thanks,
Diane

Thanks for the new recs as well! I finished reading Midnight Man the other night - it was a good read - a few military-isms that sort of jar'd me out of the story, but nothing major, so i'll def. try to check the next one out in the series

Just requested it from the library. The rest of the recs, of course, automatically goes to that ever-increasing TBR list.
Thanks guys.

You can PM the person you were paired with there, and see if they would not mind committing to more than one book this month. Check the posts from the 30th of April onward, to see if they made recommendations for you. If you decide on reading one this month, am sure they would love to know what you thought of it.
In the event that person was also absent until now, then you may both join us this month if you wish to do so. Either way, let me know your decision through PM.

Lol.. I've just added about 50 books between both your TBR lists! I have soo many to read now!
I think I'm going to have to go with Naked In Death... I've heard so much about it already :-) If I have time, I'll start on the others, which have also gone on my TBR...
Yz, thanks for the recommendations! Looking forwards to it!
And thanks to you and Dee for being so patient with me with the whole late rec thing! Once again, sorry about that!
And sorry to you Rossy for complicating your life! And thanks for getting everything organized:-)

4 From Your TBR
1. I chose one that's been on your To-Read list the longest: Red Handed, the first book in Gena Showalter's Alien Huntress series

BJ, I saw your recs for Leah, and I couldn't help but support your Lynsay Sands HR books.. They're hilarious and so cute! Ok.. I'll butt out now:-)

Thanks Kassa! I think I'm going to try to go for the Charlaine Harris pick or Meridian by Amber Kizer.
The picks all look great! Thanks so much! Did I do ok with yours?

You three found an alternative that worked, so there's no problem. Besides we're only human, forgetting is part of our make-up i sometimes think.LOL

I have to agree with you Melanie. You should join other fans of the series here, if you can: http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1...

Ang, I'm gonna get right on getting recs for you. I've been busy all day!
Oh, and I'll either go with Burned or Dance with the Devil.

Guess what came in the mail today :)
And i have some upsetting news, i went the library to get out more dark hunter books, and they dont have many more to get out*sniff* so i put on hold the ones they had and im got out the others but they are not in order which blows..u no!!! so im super unhappy about that!!!!

What came in the mail today?! Your Lords books?!
Damn library! At least you'll be getting more DH books, though. I know you don't like reading them out of order, though :(
(And I'm going to get your recs as soon as I finish checking my exorbitant amount of emails.)

From your TBR:
1. Night Play by Sherrilyn Kenyon
2. Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon
3. Savor Me Slowly by Gena Showalter
4. Stolen by Kelley Armstrong
New books/authors:
1. Dark Lover by J. R. Ward
2. Animal Instincts by Gena Showalter
3. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (This is book is really, really good, Ang.)
4. Wake by Lisa McMann
I know you'll be able to find something that you'll like, so have fun with the recs ;P

Three of the books that Natalie picked for me are on their way to my county library branch.
Good timing...I only have two books on the nightstand and one ebook to finish.

Happy reading :)..."
The problem is not finding something - it's trying to pick only one! I actually already have
The Duke And I and Slave to Sensation sitting beside me from the library, which shows how perfect your choices were for me! I'm going to read Daughter of the Blood because I don't think I've ever heard of it so I'm intrigued. I'm also going to add the others to my TBR and bump Ender's Game up. I've been meaning to read it for far too long.
I went through your books (that's an impressive list you have going!) and I'm afraid I wasn't familiar with much from your TBR so I don't think I'll be much help but I'd recommend:
The Butler Did It - Kasey Michaels is one of my favourite historical romance authors and this is my favourite by her. It's light and funny with all sorts of wacky characters and subplots.
Faerie Tale - This is a dark story and I think it's set in the eighties so may be a little dated but it's still really good. I'm a fan of Feist and love his style of writing.
Changeless - I'd recommend this because I can't wait to read it but I'm still waiting for the library to get it in. The first was fantastic!
Magic Bites - I read a short story from this series in Must Love Hellhounds and I thought it was an interesting storline. It certainly seemed unique.
For non-TBR recs I'd pick:
Deception - you read quite a few other books by Quick so if you want more I really liked this one.
A Summer to Remember - This is the prequel to a romance series of the Bedwyn family. The last book in the series was my favourite (Slightly Dangerous) but this one was a close second.
The Witching Hour - You've read some of Rice's vampire chronicles so if you liked those, I think you'll like this series. Even though Interview With the Vampire is my favourite by her, I liked the Mayfair Witches series better overall. There's some crossover with the characters as well.
Warbreaker - If you want fantasy, this book is fantastic. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. The characters, places and systems of magic are well developed and vividly described.
I hope you love whatever you pick and thank you for waiting for me!!!

From your TBR:
1. Night Play by Sherrilyn Kenyon
2. Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon
3. Savor Me Slowly by Gena Showa..."
Thank you thank you thank you Leah
I wanna read all of them :P hahahaha
I think with my TBR list i might chose
Savor me slowly and Born of the night(seeming i have these two out from the library :) you no me to well)
And from the NEW BOOkS i might go with
Dark Lover, and The Hunger Games(if my library has it)
But who knows i might even get around to all of them, since i have most of them on hold or Out from the Libray xx*hugs* You Rock!!!!

Hah, it feels a lot like birthday to me ;)
I love your recommandations. I do have the same problem you mentioned, however... So. Frustrating! ;D
I'd like to read The Butler Did It, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get the book this month. This wouldn't be the case with A Summer to Remember and Deception both of which I have aleady so I think, I'll read one or both of those for the challenge. Heh, Changeless and Magic Bites are currently shipped to me so those could be viewed as a back-up, right? As for Faerie Tale - I unwisely borrowed the book, still unread by me, and have some problems getting it back. Ehh...
Thank you for terrific choices!

Eventually I'll get around to It Had to Be You and Eternal Pleasure:-)
Thanks so much for the rec Yz!!!

Lol.. forgetting is definitely a part of my make-up!!! as is scrambling to make everything up, lol...

I'm currently listening to Ceremony in Death and I love Eve and Roarke more and more.
If there is any way, you can listen to at least one audiobook version of any of the In Death books, you should give it a try. The narrator is just fabulous.

Thanks and be assured I'll read it, just not this month, heh. Due to my sister's upcoming wedding I try to be careful how much I spend on books. I usually spend more that my budget would allow but I don't want to mess things up for my sister in any little way so... heh. The Butler Did It will have to wait till after June 26. :]

I've put Wake on hold at the library. It looks good and I'm looking forward to reading it. Thanks for the recs!

I downloaded one because you enjoy the narration so much and I agree. She's really good! I'm reading Ceremony in Death next.
I listened to part of Blood Brothers on audio and it was really weird listening to a man narrate a romance novel! I far prefer hearing a woman play a man then a man play a woman. I had a hard time not thinking of Quinn as a crossdresser :)

It does require a little switch if you are used to a female narrator. I know the 2nd book in that trilogy has a female narrator and the 3rd book is back to a male.

You three found an alternative that worked, so t..."
Congratulations, Melanie! That was quick girl!

A little switch? *ROFLMAO* I don't think i would be able to get the image out of my head.

."
Naughty thoughts alert! *grins*

I'll step out this month, sorry to disappoint you Pollyanna!
Thanks for the recs - I was going to suggest we could both read Bitten as it's on both of our TBR shelves...

Yeah,You had a super great advantage cos we chat every day about the books we are reading ot=r we wont to read..lol. but you did awesome. yeah i am nearly finished with Night play :) Love It!! We done good on or reccos!!

TBR
Moon Called by Patricia Briggs - This is one of my favorite UF series. Mercy is a great heroine who is a coyote shifter who was raised with werewolves. There isn't much romance in this book, but some will slowly build up through the series.
Summon the Keeper by Tanya Huff - This book is quite different than most. Claire is a keeper (basically a guardian against evil) and is summoned to a guest house with her talking cat, Austin. There is a hole to hell in the basement and Claire keeps the place running with interesting guests checking in while she tries to figure out how to close it. One of my favorite things about this book is the hole to hell talks to itself and is pretty funny.
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong - another of my favorites. This is about Elena who is the only female werewolf. She is trying to deny the werewolf side and live a normal life, but is forced to help out her pack. Clay is one of my all-time favorite heros.
Good Eats: The Early Years by Alton Brown - I haven't read this, but I did read a couple of his earlier cookbooks. I love Alton Brown and he makes everything enjoyable.
New
Uncle Shelby's ABZ book by Shel Silverstein - I noticed you had a couple of his and really enjoyed them. This one is a bit different as it is really snarky and should probably never be given to kids.
Tongue in Chic by Christina Dodd - You liked Trouble in High Heels so I thought you might enjoy this one as well. I actually preferred this one. Meadow goes to steal a painting, is caught by the homeowner, Devlin, pretends to have amnesia and then he pretends she is his wife.
East of Eden by John Steinbeck - I saw some classics on your shelves and this is one of my favorites. It is about the fall of two brothers brought about by one woman.
Something from the Nightside by Simon R. Green - This is probably the closest I have to horror books (which you seem to enjoy). John Taylor finds things and when he is hired to find a missing girl, it requires him to go back to the Nightside (the otherworldly part of London). Lots of creepy creatures and such.
