I have heard mixed reviews on Uglies so skipped the series - you are liking it though??

message 3309: by David (new)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 836 comments I'm actually surprised by the average rating on GRs, I think Westerfeld's world building is fantastic, his premise truly unique, and his characters interesting and three dimensional. One of the coolest things is how he remakes the main character in each book. I won't tell you why he has to but it's quite cool. If you like dystopian, I highly recommend Uglies :)

message 3310: by David (new)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 836 comments Blue- in my opinion the series gets better as it goes along, so I'd recommend getting back into it soon!

I'm always confused as to why so many people dislike Uglies. I agree with David ... the world-building is so fantastic, and it's really interesting to see how Tally changes from book to book. One of my favorite series ever!

Not sure either. I just read enough negative GR friend reviews to think I should skip it before. I may try it now though.

I think you might like them, Heidi! It's worth a shot if you ask me. ;)

I don't know, I can't think of any reason Heidi would really dislike it. Like I said, the world-building is really good. There is some romance, but it's not stupid or overbearing. :P

Whoohoo! I hope you like Perks, Heidi. And also Dust & Decay of course, but I know you already liked the first book. :D

Getting an early start Brigid? Let us know how it is.

message 3323: by [deleted user] (new)

I haven't read the Uglies series but I liked Westerfeld's Midnighters series.

Brigid - I can think of one reason Heidi wouldn't like Uglies...she's uber picky! LOL! She is the only person I know that when she recommends a book, I know I HAVE to read it. :)

Edgar - DUFF as in The Duff Designated Ugly Fat Friend by Kody Keplinger ? I really liked that book.

message 3324: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 2471 comments Mod
True––but I'm fairly picky myself and I do love that series. And I'm just basing my guess on books I know Heidi likes & doesn't like. ;)
