if I can figure out how to download it from the library using the USB cord!

I haven't been on here for ages, so sorry for that! I've been busy writing. I have also been collecting all the reviews I can find on my books, the idea being to have an authors page/web site of my own. This might take some time, as I'm not the greatest on these computer thingies,[there's nowhere to fit a spanner!?']Behind all this effort is the search for what it is that catches the readers eye on Kindle Store. I have three books on there 'RO' a true story, 'The Day the Ravens Died' and the follow up, 'The Undefended Land'
These are all military themed thrillers, I would expect most readers to be military, or ex-military, as well as those who wished they were or had been military. Imagine my confusion to discover over half of my reviews from all over are from genteel little ladies.
Explanations please to the local home for the gently confused!
All the best Paul Rix [oldgeezer]
A.K.A. Timothy Pilgrim.
Thankfully I have finally finished A Cold Day For Murder - Dana Stabenow. Now listening to Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen.
Couldn't get into All Fall Down - Erica Spindler, so now decided to read Priced to Move - Ginny Aiken.
Another collection of short stories on my Kindle (know your enemy...), this time:
Enjoying Oli's second anthology. He's got a habit of setting up intriguing stories that cry out for further development, and I think he is actually working on developing a few of these at least to novella length.
I'm reading Moby-Dick which i'm getting through slowly and Afraid which I only started last night but enjoying it.
I've finished reading
by Jamie Ford last night. I really loved this book! Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is a beautiful, fascinating, tender and moving story from beginning to end. Like the title suggests, the story is such a bitter-sweet tale, heartbreaking at times and so warm and sweet in others. All the characters were vivid, well-developed and realistic. I really loved the characters of Henry, Keiko and Sheldon, and really cared about what happened to them. I found it really hard to put this novel down and I look forward to reading more from this author! I gave this novel 5 Stars! My full review is here:

Now I'm a few chapters into
by John Steinbeck.

I just bought
because another group are reading it in Feb. Also
because I heard the author spends some of his time near where I live in NZ. Also
becasue I saw it here. And ditto
I haven't started reading it yet, but i just bought Bel Canto because it's on sale for $1.99 today (to match the BN Daily Find price).
I'm actually working on 3 different books. I'm reading "The Twelve Tribes of Hattie", "Dark Places", and "Not a Fan".
I just got
by Anya Wylde, a Goodreads author! Her first book,
was laugh out loud funny (which got me strange looks from my family) and I can't wait to start this one!
Nothing at the moment! I have lots of paperbacks that I have collected but never read, so I am slowly working my way through those. However, I do have lots of books ready and waiting on my Kindle. I snapped up Life of Pi for 20p so that will probably be my next Kindle read, possibly some Dickens afterwards.
Has finished Priced to Move - Ginny Aiken. Now I think I am going to read Destined to Feel - Indigo Bloome.
I'm debating about reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I know I'm going to start the Mortal Instruments. I've started the Dear America series. Debating on Guardians of Ga'hoole. Finished Harry potter. Started the ascendancy trilogy. Love the false prince! Anyway, please tell me what you thought about the perks of being a wallflower.
I'm catching up on one of my favorite series, the #1 Ladies Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith, with In the Company of Cheerful Ladies
.
Just finished Destined to Feel - Indigo Bloome. Now I am about to embark on Midnight Alley - Rachel Caine.
I've finished reading
by John Steinbeck. The Grapes of Wrath is a beautifully written but extremely moving and heartbreaking novel with interesting, realistic and well-developed characters. I love John Steinbeck's wonderful writing style. I just loved his fantastic vivid descriptions of the landscape and the people. At times the descriptions of the barren landscape and the appalling conditions the family have to put up with is very depressing. I wanted to put the book down sometimes due to this but I'm glad a persevered through and finished the novel. This novel well deserved the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction it won in 1940 and it really is a masterpiece of 20th Century literature. It is definitely a must read! Four stars! My full review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Now I'm about to start on
by Nicholas Evans.
This message is for Ellie. If you enjoyed "Grapes of Wrath" you'll really enjoy the sequel to it. The book that is the sequel is "East of Eden" by John Steinbeck. The story line carries on and it is much warmer then the "Grapes of Wrath." I too read both books in the 50's and enjoyed every word of them. I hope you buy a copy and read it. Bone Appetite.

Just finished Alice in Deadland, considering there are some bad reviews for this book I liked it. Will definitely give the next one a go.

by that author.
Hey! I'm currently reading Personal Justice 2. It's the second book in an 8 book series that starts with Personal Justice 1. Goodreads only has book 1, though. If you're interested, go to Freado, Smashwords or Amazon to find out more. :)
Finished reading a very interesting book called "In the Blood:A geneological Crime mystery. I recommend it-uniquehttp://www.amazon.com/In-Blood-Geneal...
I've just read The in between & Sea scoundrel in the last week. Thought I'd read something less productive to my fantasies lol and more productive (hopefully useful) to reality, just started Improve your memory bank.
I'm almost done finally with Count of Monte Cristo and I'm 20% through the Steve jobs biography. I just got a new job and it's an hour commute each way - so for the record I'm so happy amazon has audible too
I am reading A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness. I am 16 percent in and finding it to be very slow in any kind of action. Hope it picks up soon since I waited a long time for the price to come down so I could purchase it.

Just finished reading Midnight Alley - Rachel Caine. Now I am going to read Hearts and Arrows - David G. Pearce.
Has finished Hearts and Arrows - David G. Pearce. Now I am going back to Witchy, Witchy - Penelope King.
I've just finished
by Nicholas Evans and
by Janet Evanovich. The Divide started off so well but the plot did get quite slow halfway through the book. I did wish it would speed up at times but the story did remain strangely engaging. The last 60 or 70 pages of the novel were just as gripping and compelling as the first half of the novel. To tell the truth, I enjoyed the family drama sub-plot a lot more than I liked the murder mystery plot but I think that was probably because I didn't like the character of Abbie all that much so I found it hard to care about what happened to her. I loved all the vivid and wonderful descriptions of the Montana setting and landscape that made me feel like I was actually there. Nicholas Evans has got a great writing style and I love his use of language and imagery. I gave this novel 3½ stars!
My full review can be found here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I love all the regular Stephanie Plum novels but I'm not sure I like these between the numbers novellas. I was very disappointed by Plum Lovin'. Nothing much happened in it and it was extremely dull and boring. It wasn't anywhere near as funny as the regular novels do be and I really hate the supernatural element in the novella. I gave it 1½ stars!

Now I'm a few chapters into
by Jennifer Donnelly.

Thanks! I actually already read that book. East of Eden was the first Steinbeck book I ever read and it made me want to read the rest of Steinbeck's books.
