however twilight is an easy read that hits the spot if you want a cute romance novel. Each has their own perks.
I personally pick hunger games ;)

I agree Twilight all the way!! I loved the hunger games series, until the 3rd book. in my opinion she ruined the whole series ending it the way she did. that's just my opinion though. i always found it fascinating that people loved the 3rd book cuz i hated it. but from all the people i have talked to about it i have come to the conclusion that those who liked the book couldn't see it going any other way, and those who hated it could.

Now, this argument is solely based off the first Twilight novel, I have not ventured into reading any further in the series so I can make no comment on the second, third, or fourth book of Twilight.
However, I did read all three books to The Hunger Games.
Now, back to the argument.
In Twilight, if you take two different highlighters and go through and highlight the words that Bella uses to describe Edward's intellect (or something of his charms that are not physical such as "he is sweet") and in one color and for the second color highlight every word she uses to describe his physical attributes... you'll find that she is purely focused on the physical. In fact, even though she does use the word "brilliant" in correlation to Edward, she uses it only once to describe his intellect and several times to describe his "brilliantly white teeth." This displays Bella as an overly shallow character.
In addition to her teen-bop infatuation with Edward, she also views Edward as a father figure versus a boyfriend. Yes, she refers to her father as "Charlie" more often than not (when she is examining him mentally that is, out loud she normally always says "Dad"), but after direct relation with Edward she always slips up. In fact, after almost being hit by the truck/van and she is being taken to the ambulance, her father arrives on the scene that she just experienced with Edward and she refers to him as "Chief Swan" then "Charlie" and then "Dad." The closer Edward is to her the further she drifts from her father. We also see that Edward views her as a child, when he is going on an emotional rant about the class they shared together he refers to their classmates as "those children" even though Bella is of the same age range and thus she would be a child, as well.
...
Sorry for the tirade, Twilight bothers me. Or rather, Twilight doesn't bother me, the fact that it's marketed to young preteen girls who don't know any better bothers me. Fuck marketing.
So! On the other hand, Katniss is extremely aware of both Peeta and Gale (although apparently not aware of their affection for her), she does not focus on their physical attributes unless it is necessary to progress the story and while she misses her father, there is never any indication that her love for either character is a misplaced love intended for her father.
But from a non-feminist point of view and simply examining both texts from a shallow purely-pleasure-reading mindset (which there is absolutely nothing wrong with), The Hunger Games is still better.
So yeah, that's my opinion.

that is totally true and awesome comment! What Katniss did in the arena she did for her family, but what Bella does she does for her overprotective stalker-like creepy-ass boyfriend
Who wants a girl that can't think for herself? Hunger Games all the way, why are we even comparing them...
HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Duh! of coarse it's better then twilight. way more action and no offense but i get so fed up with Bella when she acts all weak. i personally like strong females, you know. and that is exactly what Katniss is. plus she's got an nice guy like Peeta! totally team peeta

HUNGER GAMES!!! beyond reasonable or unreasonable doubt!!!! HUNGER GAMES!!!!

I totally agree!!!! It's nice to finally have someone i agree with. I loved the series until the 3rd book.

In my opinion readers have a right to comment/criticise an author's work because that is their purpose. Everyone doesn't have to love it and the author needs to respect that either their book is fantastic or just plain rubbish. SM needs to accept that some people do not like her book and prefer others.

(:

Agreed you can't because they're about two comletely different things!! :)

:-D

I agree. Thank you for speaking my mind

"Hunger Games" is the modern "Romeo and Juliet" one can not live without the other.

That's a good way of putting it.

i would choose hunger games any day!
:D"
You can't even understand how much I agree with that comment.
