message 407: by Lilly (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lilly Povey It only took me 3 days of nonstop reading to finish Twilight, and then I made my grandpa get me New Moon for my birthday. But when I got The Hunger Games from the library, I read it in 3 or 4 hours. And I was so mad at the library for not having the 2nd and 3rd books for the Hunger Games on the shelves. My grandpa got me the boxed set of all three for Christmas, which I had finished in less than a week. The fact that on the back of the book there is a comment from Suzanne Collins saying she read it under the table at a restaurant makes The Hunger Games that much better.Hunger Games Forever!!

Kersti I couldn´t pick. They are completely different books. And I can´t begin to imagine how a lot of people judge how they like the books only based on a love story in those particular books.
Firstly-Hunger Games has much more depth to it than just Katniss´s and Peetas love story. Secondly-Twilight is a funny and touching love story with the "we-can´t-actually-be-together" touch to it (that is at last overcome by Bella becoming a vampire).

So-if I had to choose based on the story line and the depth of the book and plot and the message to the readers-I would give all my love and votes to Hunger Games. But if I had to pick a book based on the cute love story that made you giggle, at times frightened or excited, I would give my heart to Twilight.

But in the end-I appreciate Hunger Games a ton times more than Twilight, because some of the thoughts still linger with me from time to time. But if I just wanted something good to read (without getting depressed about mankind being cruel to one another), then I would choose Twilight.

April Hunger Games

Ricky Stafford Michelle wrote: "I really don't understand why people keep comparing every new YA book that comes out with Twilight. The Hunger Games is a dystopian book and there is not even a single supernatural being in it. Not..."

I understand what you are saying, and I sorta agree. However, the comparison is about which is better written with better characters and so on. I can compare them because I powered my way through the first Twilight book, only because both my sisters and my girlfriend are big fans of them.

The Hunger Games is a much better written story that will get your attention from page one and keep it. It has characters that you can sometimes feel like you relate to, and doesn't have ridiculous characters, such as sparkly vampires. I mean seriously? Sparkly vampires? I can understand girls at an age group of 8-13 enjoying those vampires, since kids like sparkly stuff anyways, but not Teenagers or adults.

My girlfriend had several times tried to tease me and say she was going to put glitter on me so I would sparkle in the sun like a vampire. I replied by saying, If you turn me into a gay sparkly vampire, I will kill myself.

Long story short ...

Hunger Games

That is all

message 411: by Lauren (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lauren HUNGER GAMES ARE MY FAVORITE SERIES! I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I READ BOTH TWILIGHT AND HUNGER GAMES, I ACTUALLY JUST READ THEM BOTH FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR. I READ HUNGER GAMES IN FEB/MARCH AND TWILIGHT IN APR/MAY. THE ONLY THING THAT KEPT ME READING TWILIGHT SERIES WAS THE WAY STEPHANIE MEYERS USED GREAT DETAIL IN DESCRIBING THE CHARACTERS, OF COURSE I'M NOT THAT INTO VAMPIRE STUFF, BUT SERIOUSLY I LOVE THE COMMENT THAT KATE (DAUGHTER OF ZION) WROTE ABOUT HOW THE HUNGER GAMES KEEPS YOU HOOKED FROM THE VERY FIRST PAGE AND HOW IT HAS ALL OF THE ABOVE ROMANCE, VIOLENCE, POLITICS AND MORE. I LOVE YOU HUNGER GAMES, I HOPE THAT YOU WIN AND BECOME AN EVEN BIGGER FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH!!! WOOT WOOT!!! I WILL BE THE ONE AT THE MOVIE THEATER WITH THE BLACK HUNGER GAMES T-SHIRT ON!!!! I CAN ONLY PRAY THAT THE MOVIE IS HALF AS GOOD AS THE BOOKS!!

Vanessa Eneas Hunger Games!!!! I loved the whole series... May have to read it again. I enjoyed twilight too to be fair but this series was original, superior writing and amazing characters.

message 417: by maddie (new) - rated it 5 stars

maddie never had read anything like it ...so much more original then any other ook out there

message 418: by Kevin (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kevin It's sin to say Twilight (jk) HUNGER GAMES ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 419: by Sandy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sandy Hunger Games.

Samantha I enjoyed both, but I think that when it comes to realism, The Hunger Games had it spot on. Considering they both fall into young adult/sci fi I was amazed at their stark differences.
Also, I don't think that if The Hunger Games were turned into movies, they would use Robert Pattison, whom I loathe due to his poor performance as Edward. smh

message 421: by Lisa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Hunger Games is so much better!! Bella was just plain stupid...I hate when books have girl characters that have no common sense.

message 422: by Juliet (new) - rated it 5 stars

Juliet Lisa wrote: "Hunger Games is so much better!! Bella was just plain stupid...I hate when books have girl characters that have no common sense."

same, they bother me so much!

message 423: by Cassie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cassie I also pick The Hunger Games, I liked Twilight too but The Hunger Games is ranked up there with Harry Potter in my eyes...but I don't think people who haven't read both series should have any opinion.

message 424: by Beth (new) - rated it 2 stars

Beth This isn't even a real competition.... the two series are so entirely different that the only thing they have in common is being "YA series read equally by adults." It's like asking someone to compare Wuthering Heights and 1984... they just don't mesh. You're going to get plenty of answers based simply on people liking one genre over the other, or preferring action over romance... in other words, basic genre, plot, and story preferences.

The only unbiased comparisons you can draw for comparison are going to based on writing style, character/plot development, etc. and I highly doubt anyone is going to write an essay here debating those aspects. ^_^

message 425: by Feli (new) - rated it 1 star

Feli HUNGER GAMES!! BELLA DOES NOT HAVE A PERSONALITY, SHE DEPENDS ON EDWARD FOR EVERYTHING! KATNISS, ON THE OTHER HAND, SHOWS SHE CAN TAKE CARE OF HERSELF!! THAT'S HOW A STRONG WOMAN SHOULD BE :D

message 426: by Chris (new) - rated it 4 stars

Chris Never read twilight but Hunger games was very entertaining right up until the end. But it was still a very enjoyable story.

message 433: by Erika (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erika James Hunger Games. Always.

message 434: by Bekah (new) - rated it 5 stars

Bekah Clermont It's true that the characters in the hunger games are more likable. Katniss is always strong and Peeta always loves Katniss whereas the characters in twilight are self-destructive in everything that they do. I vote for the hunger games both in character development and writing style.

message 435: by Beth (new) - rated it 2 stars

Beth The one thing that both Twilight and the Hunger Games have in common is that the last book in each of the series is pretty much a trainwreck when compared to their predecessors.

Tiffany Beth wrote: "The one thing that both Twilight and the Hunger Games have in common is that the last book in each of the series is pretty much a trainwreck when compared to their predecessors."

LMFAO! BETH COULDN'T HAVE SAID IT BETTER MYSELF! WHY WAS THERE NO EPIC BATTLE I WAS READY FOR IT IN TWILIGHT AND KATNISS WAS JUST ANNOYING IN MOCKINGJAY AND I HATED THAT SUZANNE DIDN'T TELL US WHAT HAPPENED TO GALE!!!

April Hunger Games of course!!

message 441: by Amanda (last edited Jul 09, 2011 07:36AM) (new) - rated it 2 stars

Amanda Welker Is this even a question? Hunger Games, definitely. Collins' characters are much more developed and believable. She isn't afraid to kill off characters. Not to mention, THG has strong themes that prevail throughout the novels while Twilight has virtually none. Twilight is crap, The Hunger Games is not.

Anna Lee Amanda said, "She's not afraid to kill of characters"

-I agree...it made the book better and more interesting....however I miss some of her characters:(

message 443: by Bee (new) - rated it 3 stars

Bee Definitely, Hunger Games.

message 444: by Mariela (last edited Jul 09, 2011 02:34PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mariela This is a joke right??????????? there is NO way you can ask this question!!! The Hunger games is a master piece. Kenzie Vampire are not stupid, there is a lot stories about vampires maybe you just read Twilight. Just because Vampires are not real does not mean is something stupid.

message 445: by Emma (new) - rated it 3 stars

Emma The Hunger Games. Clearly.

message 446: by maddie (last edited Jul 09, 2011 07:31PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

message 447: by Ellie (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ellie HUNGER GAMES!!! TWILIGHT HAS NOTHING ON HUNGER GAMES! KATNISS WOULD BEAT BELLA ANYDAY....

message 448: by maddie (new) - rated it 5 stars

maddie Lol bella a whimp!!

Audiobooks_Rock The hunger games = the best choice

Twilight is what you want to read if you are a desperate teenage girl who gets off on teenage vampires.

Ofc, If you consider reading a teen vampire series....

Try: Vampire Academy
The plot = way better than twilight. And not as cliche.

message 450: by maddie (new) - rated it 5 stars

maddie I hate vampires... They're really gruesome
