Perhaps we should start a thread about the "merry pranksters" of BSC. I hope I don't sound unkind. Uncharitable would not be the right word. Something else. Weary skepticism perhaps.
Hello all. My name is Richard and I am a US Army Tanker. Happy to be a member of this group and looking forward to posting when I can.

Welcome aboard Richard, I salute you, and stay safe.Spent some time there on some exercises, originally from Missouri, not far from KCMO, so I did enjoy my trips there.

Welcome, Kenneth. Please feel free to pitch in.
Welcome Kenneth - lots of good and knowledgable people hang around this little corner of the internet - I hope you enjoy your stay :)
Hi James and Kenneth , welcome to the group , I'm a fellow newbie , yet to earn my wings also . Looking forward to chatting with you as well as everyone else :)
I'm new to Goodreads and of course, this group. My reading interests are world war 2, history of science, travel, biography.I was a child during WW2 and have always maintained an interest in this period. I am also a veteran of the US Army.
It was not until I retired that I started reading regularly. For the last several years, my WW2 reading interests have centered on the Pacific theater. I was very uninformed about operations in and around the Philippines. I have discovered a wealth of interesting books on this topic perhaps because more Americans, civilian and military were suddenly caught up in the war and became escapees, prisoners or guerrilla fighters.
I hope to learn about other interesting WW2 books from this group.
Hi David and a very warm welcome to the group, I hope you find a few things of interest here. If you enjoy books on the pacific theatre you might like to check this thread out:

David,Welcome to our little corner of the internet and thank you for your service
Lots of vets show up here - from various countries
Welcome David. This is the best group on GR and hope you find something of interest here. Jump right in. A warning...your bookshelf is likely to grow rapidly with all the interesting recommendations made here.
I am also new to the site. Though I was not really a WWll buff, I am becoming one through the editing and publishing of my friend's WWll series. In every book I have found little known and interesting facts (well, to me anyway).

Welcome to Kenneth, David and Suzy. Everyone has something to offer and learn, so please do feel free to join in by commenting and of course helping to add more books to all our TBRs.
Welcome Suzy. Jump right in, and we join you in loving to find new and interesting vignettes from the wars.
Mike wrote: "Welcome David. This is the best group on GR and hope you find something of interest here. Jump right in. A warning...your bookshelf is likely to grow rapidly with all the interesting recommendation..."*groans* I don't need anymore books, I just got rid of half of my collection.
Selena, That's what's great about the e-book versions. You can download, read then click delete or save. Pat will never part with his reference collection. He uses them far more than the internet when he is writing.
So true. We are constantly exchanging our used novels for new (used) ones at the two second hand bookstores in our small city. Win win for all! And, bonus for us-they are carrying the paperback versions of all Pat's titles, the murder mysteries and fantasies as well as the WWll series.
The last two Honor Harrington books I 'read' were actually audio books that I borrowed from the library as was the second in the Kane family chronicles. With the Throne of Fire it was actually kind of nice to hear it as opposed to reading it, since I am not all that conversant with pronouncing the names of Egyptian Gods. I never would have thought that a K was pronounced like a TSuzy wrote: "Selena, That's what's great about the e-book versions. You can download, read then click delete or save. I prefer print books (much easier on the eyes). I'll have to make judicious use of the library. Though with my renewed obsession with the internment, I think my library is about to explode. I'll have to check out the Honor Harrington books. My father reads those but I haven't gotten into them.
While I prefer print books, I ride the bus to much not to take advantage of the eBook format. It is in general, lighter, easier to store and since I read more than one book at the same time easier to accommodate my proclivities. If I do end up buying the Generals book, it will be in the print format. Anything I plan on keeping is.Selena wrote: "I prefer print books (much easier on the eyes). Evening all! I'm Patrick (Pat) Laughy and am currently writing a series entitled The 4th Reich. I was lucky enough to find your group courtesy of Suzy, who edits and publishes my books, when I recently returned from my Vancouver to Toronto Ontario trip to accompany my eldest son on an epic father and son bonding trip, in order to transport his classic Ccorvair Corsa home from where he purchased it on Vancouver Island. I am looking forward to sharing my interest in the history of WWII, as I continue my labour of love. I'm in the midst of the Battle of Kursk as we speak
