Hi Judith and Kari, I recently read my first Nevada Barr book, Ill Wind for the Summer Theme read and I really enjoyed it. The description of the Mesa Verde NP was as interesting as the mystery itself and I hope to read more in the series.

I am reading A Death in Tuscanyand am positivly suprised about it. Never rad or heard about the author but my boyfriend was right that I would like it!

I have Bittersweet but I have had a lot of trouble getting into it.

The books where she is diving, Superior Death and Flashback make me almost as claustrophobic as the one where she is making the descent. My favorite was the first one I read, Deep South. Partly because I had just taken a drive on the Natchez Trace.

I am very excited, I just received two book through Bordermarketplace.com. This is a website connected to thousands of used book dealers around the world and Borders. I have found hundreds of books that I couldn't anywhere else on this site. I recently got a copy of Harlon Coben first book Play Dead, which is being re-released in September I believe. I also was able to pick up Andy McDermott's next Nina Wilde / Eddie Chase adventure. It is titled The Sacred Vault or The Vault of Shiva. (there was a name change somewhere. I first heard of the book as The Vault of Shiva, but when I went to order it I was told it was unavailable. When I searched again it came up The Sacred Vault. This is the title on the book I received). It is due to be released in the United States in the fall. If you like archeological thrillers like the Da Vinci Code or Steve Berry's Cotton Malone series then I think you will like this series. The books in the series, in order, are : 1.The Hunt for Atlantis 2. The Tomb of Hercules 3.The Secret of Excalibur 4.The Covenant of Genesis 5. The Cult Of Osiris 6. The Sacred Vault

I just started The Monkey's Raincoat by Robert Crais. It is the first in a series and, so far, funny and fast moving.

Halfway through the new Tana French - it has me sucked in, and NO, I don't mind that Frankie is real rather than entirely likeable.

Hi Bettie, I really liked In the Woods and The Likeness has been on my TBR list since it came out. I am going to have to get reading!

These stories are linked but not a series per se. All three have sucked me in but none of them are for those who require closure or character love.

Hillamonster.. I love Lincoln Rhyme series since I first watched the movie Bone Collector, then read the books. I have almost all of the Rhyme series, except for the last two... still on my to-buy list :) Glad you're enjoying Bone Collector..

Just finished Daniel Silva's The Rembrandt Affair on unabridged audio.

What a great read! It's smart, historical, exciting and sort of the James Bond of the 21st century. If you like a good espionage mystery, treat yourself to this one!

I recently finished the Final Detail and really enjoyed it. I was sad to see that it was the last one in the series that Jonathan Marosz narrated. He is who I think of when I think of Win and Esperanza. I just purchase Play Dead Harlan Coben's first book. I can't wait to read it.

I'm reading the second one now Oscar Wilde and the Ring of Death and I'm really enjoying it. It doesn't seem as though you need to read the previous books at least to enjoy book 2.

Finished Whiteout yesterday and now I'm reading The Last Oracle. You just can't go wrong with James Rollins.

I've also started rereading Maisie Dobbsfor the group read. I first read this book when it was new. I liked it better the first time around.

I finished Darkness, Take My Hand by Dennis Lehane and then needing something a bit lighter I zipped through The Case of the Missing Books by Ian Sansom. This is a charming story of a quirky Irish village and their new librarian.

Last night I started an ARC of Frederick Forsythe's new book, The Cobra and so far so good.

I'm reading The Inheritance by Simon Tolkien. I initially read Final Witness by Simon because of his famous father J.R.R. Tolkien. I wondered if the "writing gene" was passed from father to son & I was pleasantly surprised to find that it did. Simon is a good mystery author - not the best, but definitely worth reading.

Just finished reading by Harry Dolan. This book finished 3rd in the first Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest in 2008, which landed the author a 2 book deal. Loved it! We'll be discussing it tonight at bookclub (The Dames of Deduction ;-), and I'm looking forward to hearing what others think. Multiple mysteries, lots of twist, difficult to figure out, all things I like. Especially interesting is the fact that a literary magazine publishing mysteries features prominently in the story line. Dolan's finished his second book and I'm looking forward to reading that once it's available. Great new author to try!

I have just started The Brutal Telling by Louise Penny. I enjoyed all of her other books, so I'm looking forward to this.

I've been book bouncing trying to finish up some group reads and indulging my fancy along the way. I recently acquired dark Provenance by Michael David Anthony in a lot purchase. It's set in Canterbury, around 1990, but other than references to the first Gulf War, it's tough to pinpoint. It's a good read. Despite being published in 1994, it is reminiscent of Christie and Chesterton. It's what I refer to as a thinking-detective mystery as opposed to a mystery/suspense thriller.

So now I want to read something light before going back to my mystery-thriller genre. I'm now reading Airhead by Meg Cabot. Hoping to finish this in 2 days..

I agree there is nothing like a good James Rollins book. My favorites are [book:Excavation and Subterranean but they are all great!

I just finished Déjà Dead and I really enjoyed it (once I figured out a method to best skim the grossest parts-- the physical description was overwhelming at first). But I'm seriously looking forward to reading The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest... ready to pick up at the libary tomorrow... that was a long wait!

Just finished Mistress of Mellyn by Victoria Holt (romantic suspense). It was kind of a hybrid of Jane Eyre and Rebecca though not remotely as good as either of those. I don't think I'd read Holt since age 12 or 13 and I just got the yen to pick one up again.

Oh there was a time when i read and reread these.. Victoria Holt, jayne Aiken Hodge, Phyllis A Whitney. I used to reread the romantic parts especially.
