Currently Reading? Just Finished?
Hi Nena. Welcome to the group! I haven't read Baldacci, but I know a lot of people have. YOu could start a thread in "Recommendations" or join a conversation in "Genre Discussions". Maybe someone will have some suggestions for you.

I'm currently reading Dog Eats Dog for a discussion group. I'm enjoying a lot. The characters are intriguing!

That is true. I'm also struggling. Everybody wants attention right now. I haven't read a lot of mystery this year, concentrating mostly on Science Fiction. However, I recently finished Thirteen Hours and will be reading a lot more Deon Meyer in the new year. I also want to start the Elvis Cole series by Robert Crais. Another series I discovered in 2010, and which blew me away, is the Agent Pendergast novels by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. This is good stuff folks!

I've read all donna leon really rate them

Thanks, fellow GR'ers, Happy Holidays!

I agree Elvis Cole joe pike novels great as are the agent prendergast

The Pendergast series is awesome!

I'll second the holiday wishes! Hope everyone's has been and will continue to be wonderful.

That's a good idea, K.B. I have several short story collections on my TBR shelf. For now though I'm enjoying the Donna Leon book, happily.

I haven't read all of Donna Leon's books, but I've enjoyed everyone that I have read so far.
Christmas Greetings from Italy!
I'm not reading any mysteries now, but Mystic River is up next. Can't wait! And Arthur & George about Arthur Conan Doyle.

I've been traveling to family and friends for the past few days and away from the computer so I haven't had a chance to send holiday greetings to all our wonderful members. So as a wonderful Christmas draws to a close I wish everyone...
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Did you like it? I have the sample on my Kindle, but I haven't looked at it yet.

I did! It was entertaining and deliciously meta. I don't know you but i love books about books and to read about readers so this was really my cup of tea :)

That looks interesting Dorie. Will look forward to your review.

loved the ending to Water for Elephants!

I read & enjoyed it. I don't remember much about the content but my review here says she has an interesting take on it.

He is terrific!

Running Blind by Lee Child and
Body Double by Tess Gerrisen
I like a plot that keeps moving and keeps me guessing. I was fortunate to read one right after the other that measured up to my criteria.
Are there any other Jack Reacher fans out there???

It's two novels in one: A present day hunt for secret archival materials; and a backstory set in WWII-era Germany that takes up half of the story. The back-and-forth can be good or bad depending on your reading tastes. It's working for me just well enough, though who's really the antagonist is a little murky (not a bad thing necessarily). I'd call this an intelligent thriller about uncovering the past.
Happy New Year!

Me too! I hadn't heard of this series; I'll check it out.
In this genre, I especially like Alan Furst."
Marjorie, if you like Alan Furst, you'll like Downing. I think Alan Furst is great.
