glad to hear The Next Accident is another great one- i hope to read it soon and hope to finish that series this year so i can start the dd series lol
also agree about harlan coben- can't wait for his new book next month Six Years

Are you enjoying it Barbara?"
I'm enjoying it Brenda. The mystery is interesting (if a little cliche) and the portrayal of Frank's dysfuntional family is very well done.

Aiesha, I have to agree with you about Harlan Coben. He is one of my fav authors. I just love his books.

With that all behind me, I'm now starting Black Irish by Stephan Talty.

I just started Tana French's "Broken Harbor". It's the first book of her's I've read. So far, she has an interesting voice in her characters but the details are dragging the story into t..."

That's good to hear Barbara. I've heard good reports, and I've really enjoyed the first two, even though they're pretty long...

I liked that book, also. The next one, Private: #1 Suspect, I liked even better. It's a pretty good series. My favorite is Private Games.

I read them backwards! I don't remember how I stumbled upon the DD series but I read that first. Then I started seeing that Quincy & Rainie, who appeared in one of the DD books, had their own series, I just had to go back and read that lol.

Oh, no! I'm sorry, Fiona. You might try the movie that TNT made for TV years ago starring Ralph Fiennes. Gotta be out there somewhere. That was pretty compelling. The moors and the prose and whole dark gothic language can be a bit much. What killed it for you?

Hi Brenda, fancy seeing you here :) I am going to have to move her series up in my tbr pile - I am hearing great things!

Thankfully Harry showed up to save the day and Jack McEvoy was introduced. It had a fairly clever twist at the end that made it all worthwhile.
I will have to try some of the recommendations in this thread. Thanks, guys.

Haha, hi Michele:) Yes, you will most definitely have to read her books:)

I love a good who-dunnit, especially the ones with an interesting paranormal twist. I just recently caught up on Victoria Laurie's Ghosthunter Mystery Series, about a woman named MJ Holliday who is a psychic medium and can see and talk to ghosts. She helps spirits cross over, but sometimes they help her solve a murder or two first!
To be honest, I like this series alright, but I'm a much bigger fan of Victoria Laurie's Psychic Eye series about a psychic named Abigail Cooper who often helps the police and her private investigator best friend solve crimes and murders. I relate better to Abby's wit, sarcasm, and all over personality.
Has anyone else read the works of Miss Laurie? What do you think?

Tess Gerritsen is one of my favorite authors. I haven't read a book by her that I didn't like.

I just finished Guilt
. It was pretty good if you like the Alex Delaware series. I'm now reading Alex Cross, Run
.

I read that one last month and really enjoyed it. I have her other 2 books on my "want-to-read" list.

I got the other two books as well. Looking forward to reading them.

I just finished the newest Ghost Hunter book also, Anne. And the first of the Psychic Eye. What great balance they are for more, ahem, "serious" literature.
Thing is, I'm not usually a huge fan of novels centered on the paranormal. But I really enjoy Victoria Laurie's characters and look forward to each in the series.
I also liked Charlaine Harris' series with Aurora Teagarden and Lily Bard (not paranormal), as well as the Harper Connelly books (talks to the dead). But for some reason I haven't gotten past book three of the Sookie Stackhouse books!

I couldn't agree more! I've read all of the Sookie books and will read the last one just to see how it ends, but it is definitely my least favorite of Harris' series. I enjoyed the Lily Bard series a lot and especially the Roe Teagarden books since they are set just outside of Atlanta (I like in the area!).
The Harper Connelly books are most definitely my favorite, though. I love Harper so much, in fact, that her character was the inspiration for the new series I'm currently writing. My main character doesn't talk to the dead, but there is still some similarity in their abilities and personalities, and mine has an paranormal elements as well. I can't wait to crank out books 1 and 2 (still in the first draft stage).
Have you read Charlaine's standalone books? There's "Sweet and Deadly" and "A Secret Rage." "Sweet and Deadly" I wasn't a huge fan of, I believe it was her first novel. "A Secret Rage" was pretty good, though. If you haven't read either of them but enjoy Harris' work for the most part, I'd recommend checking them out.
