I finished Smoke Screen by Sandra Brown. All in all I enjoyed the book. Interesting characters, sufficient twists, and a satisfactory ending. 3.5 stars.

I finished "Moving is Murder" by Sara Rosett, and "Duty to the Dead" by Charles Todd. The Rosett was the first in a series of cozies, and it was pretty good. I got awfully tired of hearing about her baby, Livvy, and her diaper changes. The Todd book was about a WWI nurse, and I really liked the character.
I'm reading The Brutal Telling and Bury Your Dead back-to-back, and I recommend that any other Louise Penny fans read these two books together, because they are connected. Otherwise, you may be disappointed in The Brutal Telling.

The next two books in the Child 44 trilogy are excellent as well.

Finished and reviewed Tengu by John Donovan, and enjoyed it. A really good read, I thought. Martial arts based with a rather heavy plot revolving around some mideast terrorists, an older Japanese sensei master who is still bitter about the decline of the older Japanese culture with the ending of World War II, and a special ops service inquiry about what happened to some of their people and who did it. Am now finishing the Defector by Daniel Silva and HhH.

Just started The Girl of His Dreams by Donna Leon. I usually enjoy these stories by Leon. Starts out on kind of a downer though - at his mother's funeral.
I finished reading A Life For A Life - Tim Ellis and now I am going to embark on reading Road Closed - Leigh Russell.
http://ww2.kdl.org/libcat/whatsnext.aspGood source for series order :-)
I appreciate the fact that they give us the order books were written in."
Just started Shelter by Harlan Coben. I love, his Myron Bolitar books, so hope this one for young adults about Myron's nephew is just as good.

Good luck:)
I just finished rereading the first Enzo mystery. The hard cover was named "Extraordinary People" and the soft cover is "Dry Bones" -- does anyone know why they sometimes change the names for the soft cover/paperback? I'm now reading "Bruno, Chief of Police" which is turning out to be more interesting than I had expected.

I am working my way through Arthur Upfield's who-dun-its and enjoying the Australian history aspect as well as the Australian 'Sherlock Holmes' (Napoleon Bonaparte). Some of the books are set in Melbourne and surrounding areas and it is interesting to read about how the places were in the 1940s.
I have just finished
and
I would like to read all of Arthur Upfield but I'm not sure that they are all available in the US. I enjoyed the one I did read - Murder Down Under.
Just read Splitting Images. It was a crazy book can't wait for the author to come up with his next book. I love reading new authors to see the kind of ideas they come up with
Jan C wrote: "I would like to read all of Arthur Upfield but I'm not sure that they are all available in the US. I don't know if they had all of the series, but I do remember they had several. I liked them myself.

I just checked my library's catalog - they have 18. Who knew they had so many? I had been getting the ones I have at used book sales or at Powell's.
Jan C wrote: "I would like to read all of Arthur Upfield but I'm not sure that they are all available in the US. I enjoyed the one I did read - Murder Down Under."Some are available through Amazon. I have just received a paperback copy of The Clue of The New Shoe which I ordered for some friends for Christmas. It is set in Aireys Inlet where they live. (I am planning on reading Murder Down Under soon.)
I'm just reading Schwarze Piste. So far I've read all the books of this author and liked them all. They are located in the region where I live, so I know most of the places mentioned in the books. Unfortunately for most of you, there are no english translations available.
Just finishing
anyone else into the Merrily Watkins series? These have good murders with a bit of a ghosty twist - but not in a silly way more like evil residing in a house due to events there or people being affected by something spiritual. These do not have 'hauntings' or ghosts wandering around, the main character is a vicar who is the ' Deliverance' consultant of her diocese.
