I really liked this book. I never knew who the killer was until the author revealed it.

I've seriously tripped over the start - too many clues that something is going on that neither character is telling us about (I hate that witholding thing) and not enough actual action... but I'm sticking with it!

Diane, finished the book yesterday and enjoyed it quite a bit. I think it is better than the second in the series.
I'm now following up with a short story written for the same series, Pernelle's Escape, wherein we finally get to meet Charles's old love.

I've enjoyed Karin Alvtegen, Karin Fossum, Jo Nesbo and I'm looking forward to reading Henning Mankell and Helene Tursten, amongst others.. :0) So many choices..

Jar Cityby Arnaldur Indridason
Don't Look Backby Karin Fossum
June I also enjoyed Zoo, what a good and different book that was! I just did the entire Tess Gerritsen Rizzoli and Isles series from beginning to end straight thru. I read most of them when they first came out, but had not read the last 2. I have read so many in between that I lost track, and since I had recently come across the 8 pack of books 1-8 I figured why not, so I read them all thru at once. I do enjoy reading a series like that, I tend to get into these ruts sometimes, and just continue with one author or genre until I've exhausted the lot. Now I'm reading Iris Johansen's newest
which is starting out really good (of course!). Don't know what will be next, I have so many in my to read list. I really should read the ones that are in the group read but I don't have one and I read the other years ago. We shall see. On that note, back to more reading.

Bothgreat books. Now I will look for the 3rd in the
series. Love the relationship between Sherlock and
Mary. She's as feisty and as observant as he is and it makes for fun reading.
I'm reading Murder in the Marais which features that elusive species, the female private eye. I'm pleased to discover author Cara Black and that this is a series. Wonderfully gritty Paris background well removed from usual view.Ruth
Halfway through The Killer Is Dying: A Novel and still can't figure out how the story lines are going to come together.(Maybe they won't). Also reading The Hunter.
Just started reading Theodore Boone, The Accused by John Grisham. I read the other "Kid Lawyer" books and enjoyed them.
In general, two of my favorite authors and their heros: Lee Child's Jack Reacher and Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp!!! I have read every book they wrote! I LOVE these series.
Currently reading Before I Go To Sleep

Just finished Face of Betrayal, byLis Wiehl Its primarily a Chick detective mystery three female buddies are involved in a Murder mystery set in the US Senate involving a Senate page, and a Senator. The protagonist are three friend all female one a US District atty, one a reporter and an FBI Special agent. The ending is a twist that is not hinted to until the very end which doesn't lend to the reader suspecting them. The three friends are the main Premise of the book and their relationship to each other and their foibles.Face of Betrayal
Currently reading Murder Passes the Buck. This is hysterical! I love how while it's a good mystery, you also love Gertie. Everything she does seems like it makes perfect sense at the time, yet I can also sympathize with her frustrated son. Love it so far!

Before I Go To Sleep was a great book
I have just finished listening to SisterIt is well written story with suspense skillfully structured so that my attention was held throughout.
I found the exploration of the sisterly bond absorbing although However, I did tire of the sister to sister communication toward the end. I also sometimes find the retrospective scenes confusing but I wonder if that is in part because of the audio format. A print copy probably makes it easier to clarify doubts by flipping back a page or two.
Juanita McMahon's narration was faultless.

Thanks, it's something I like to do, and I think it's very important to support authors:) I read your Trapped in Gondwana recently...really enjoyed it:)
Thank you, Brenda, for reading
as well as for posting your marvellous review which I had not seen until now. I very much appreciate it. (BTW I should have said support authors AND help readers.)
Just started reading The Zen Man by Colleen Collins. Really liked the opening chapters. Reminds me a little of The Elvis Cole books and Miss Collins style is simple but similar to the great Robert Crais. Watch this space, will report back.
Just started Broken by Karin Slaughter. It has been a while since I read one of Karin Slaughter's novels. This one takes us back to Grant County but includes Will Trent. I'm finding it quite moving as Sara Linton returns and tries to deal with past events.

last night...my review is here for those interested http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I finished A Matter Of Justice by Charles Todd. Scotland Yard detectibe Ian Rutledge - psychologically damaged by WWI - sets out to solve the murder of a town's most hated resident. Pretty good plot. 3 stars.

"Elli, you might like The Winter Palace: A Novel of Catherine the Great. It is historical fiction but follows the facts!!!!!!!!!!"I just read about Peter the Great over the summer for a history class. The book mentioned little about his wife, even after he gave her the power. I am excited you mentioned this book because I wondered why so little was talked about her. I had gone to Russia this past summer after reading the book. It was amazing to see all of Peter's work in St. Petersburg.
