Currently Reading? Just Finished?
Just finished Listening Woman, so I'm all geared up for book four in the series. I think it involves Jim Chee, so I can't wait!
I just finished Trunk Music. I'm trying to read these in order and so far I have really enjoyed this series.
Tonya wrote: "I just finished Trunk MusicTrunk Music. I'm trying to read these in order and so far I have really enjoyed this series."I am reading this series too! I just started so I'm still reading the Black Echo... but so far, I like it. Glad to know you are enjoying it! I've heard that I won't be disappointed in Bosch lol.

Put it on my to-read list although will wait to see if my library gets it in or it ends up on a special price list for Kindle. I still resist buying a new to me author at new-book prices.

Reminds me a little of Cale Carr and his books.
Just got the email saying that the library book I was waiting for is ready! So I'm about to start reading Takeover by Lisa Black, in addition to Connelly's The Black Echo. I've not read anything by her nor have I heard anything about her series. I'm just giving it a try because it looks interesting!!

I am currently reading One Deadly Sin by Annie Solomon
. This is my first time reading this author not sure what I think yet.... but it is about mystery, murder, and revenge!
I'm currently about half way through
by G.K. Chesterton and it's growing on me. It was a bit of a slow burn at first. I've just started
by Lee Child.
'Nother one down, 22 to go, not reading all that quickly at the moment because I've had a lot of distractions this week! Finished
and what a great cozy mystery series this is.

Heartsick"I just finished that book and loved it. I have to get the next one in the series.
Just read, or just ditched the effort for the second time, John Grisham's "The Confession". I get it John Grisham! You are opposed to the death penalty. I am also opposed to he death penalty but I really don't need a law school lecture on the whole, boring legal process, thinly disquised as the plot of this novel. How about just telling a good story with interesting characters like the ones you drew in "The Litigators". Sorry for the rant folks, it's raining, the Sox are imploding and my library system is letting me down!
Just finished Gone for Good, it was amazing. One of his best.I'm currently reading some school books and A Pocket Full of Rye.

Both of these sound pretty good! Downloaded and added to by TBR list.
I just finished
, a nice little short story by Louise Penny featuring Inspector Armand Gamache. Now I will be starting
.
I just finished Tolstoy and the Purple Chair: My Year of Magical Reading by Nina Sankovitch. After her sister's untimely death, the author committed to reading a book a day for a year and posting a book review on her blog. Her reading became therapy to reconnect with the world. I do recommend it but beware, the list of books she read will add to your TBR list!I started The Devil's Elixir by Raymond Khoury. It's #3 in the Templar series which drew me to it in the first place. I can't say it's great literature but it's great entertainment!
Jeanie wrote: "Elli wrote: "I do like his writing. But I cannot get somehow with his main series character Myron somebody who lives at home, etc. So I look forward to his stand alones. Perhaps concepts of family ..."I'm with you Jeanie, I simply love Win!!!!

Finishing the latest Shardlake novel Heartstone and am disappointed by its slowness and lack of MCT elements compared to the rest of the series. It reads as a much more straightforward historical and that's not what drew me to the series in the first place. Next up is Connelly'sThe Fifth Witness. Can't wait!
Linda wrote: "This weekend, I started Never Knowing and today, I started listening to City of Thieves."Looking forward to reading what you thought of Never Knowing, Linda. Did you read her first book also?
Just finished Devil-Devil for my in person group tonight. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone else thought.
Devil-Devil is set in post WW II Solomon Islands so the meshing of the traditional culture and religions of the island with the British culture and Christian religion add an interesting dimension to solving the whodunnit part of the story.

I'm still on the Hillerman bus. (laughing) I've worked my way through them to Skinwalkers which I started this morning. (smile) I'm enjoying this bus ride... I truly am.
Hi Jeanie, I'm glad you are enjoying the Hillerman ride. I read most as they came out and found the entire series enlightening.

I have not read her first book, I do have it, but I am using this book for a challenge, and since it is not part of a series, I decided to read it first.
Just finished The Sentry
Tried to get into Ritual
but I found it somewhat implausable. However, Heffernan's writing is very very good, so I am going to have to get something more recently written because I think he is truly good...What I did was start Abandoned
. After the last disappointment, I am hoping for much better here, because I know he is capable. By the way, The Sentry was ok but not at the top of Robert Crais' high-bar heap. It's not a disappointment and I always enjoy reading him. My next of his will have to be a return to Elvis.
Tim wrote: "My next of his will have to be a return to Elvis."Taken will fit the bill, I think. There's more Elvis with his goofy wisecracks disguising a seriously analytical mind in this one. However, just be warned, the story line bounces... that's really the only word I can think of that describes it. (laughing) I enjoyed the bouncing, but some folks didn't. I thought it was the best book he's written in several years, but maybe that was just me?

This plot might be a little better than the last one, but what really makes this one is the villain. O'M'GAWD! Seriously disturbing!!! (shudder)
Jeanie said that she was on the Hillerman "bus". I have loved all of his books and the PB TV series. I wish that they had continued to make more of the TV shows. I have just begun The Kissing Listby Stephanie Reents which I received free from Goodreads contests. I am to make a review of it. How do I do this Hayes??????????? Do I do it on this thread or do I go on to Amazon????????????????

It's on my overflowing TBR right now, and I'm looking forward to it. Certainly looked like well worth a better look to me! Isn't it amazing how tastes can be so different, yet even with totally opposite reactions.
Hi Elli, Overall reaction to Devil-Devil was positive. A few people thought there was too much description of geography, cultural practices, and history and that made the book a bit slow. There were an equal number of people who thought the same description of geography, cultural practices, and history made the book exceptional. It's a pretty good size group (25+ people) so we often get a broad swing of opinion.
It is a slower paced book and the first one in a projected series so I would recommend planning on spending a chunk of time getting into the story. It's not a book to read in 15 min. snatches, especially at the beginning.

Thanks, Donna, for the feedback. I shall look forward to reading this; I'm one who does like the geography, cultural, etc. to be included. It helps with the relevancy for me....by now Donna Leon's food, and the status and problems connected with places to live and how the history of an area or historical status of a family name has so affected the present...just makes a dimension for me.
I'm listening to
, which is one of my favorite series and also reading
(I didn't grow up in the US so this is my first time reading the book.)

Wow!! Really? Maybe I love Myron Bolitar stories because, unlike you, they were my first exposure to Harlan's books. Shoot...I'd read them just to see what Windsor Horne Lockwood is up to. I adore Win! He's like Jack Reacher, Joe Pike, and Mitch Rapp all wrapped up into one cute little dynamo of a man!
