Sandra (sleo) Finished Fugitive Prince and moving right on to Grand Conspiracy. I'm rereading this series and finding it very rewarding indeed, as it is so complicated!

LOL, it's a little long, though. Maybe 'Treasury'?

message 205: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie I finished up the Cal Leandros book the other day and am now reading Moon Called by Patricia Briggs.

Also, I went and bought the Alice in Wonderland cover for my nook - which had me thinking about the name. I renamed my nook Rabbit Hole. My nickname is bunny and I do get lost in books (like Alice in the rabbit hole) so I thought it appropriate. =]

I have that cover as well! Shoot! Now maybe I'll name it that.

Or Mad Hatter.
Or Eat Me.
Or Alice.

BTW, has anyone read Alice I Have Been?

I downloaded the screen savers when those came out and made the Mad Hatter my wallpaper. I love Johnie! He is my boy!!!!

I know what you mean by getting lost in books. I totally am that same way. My Nook case has this saying embossed into it "When I step into this library, I cannot understand why I ever step out of it." its from Marie de Sevigne. I saw it and totally knew it was for me. But there are a lot of really cool cases to pick from. I want to change the back cover too to the olive green color.

Eileen Has anyone ever downloaded a audio book to their Nook? If so, did it go to the audio icon?

Hi Eileen, I have downloaded several audiobooks from my library. When you download them, save them into the Audiobooks folder on your Nook and they will appear when you touch the Audio icon. I'm getting ready to buy an external speaker so I can listen to my Nook while I'm driving. The built-in speakers don't get very loud at all.

I am also curious to know the same thing. Until recently I didn't have a mini SD in my Nook so I didn't put any audio books on it so they wouldn't eat up all my memory. But I want to add some now and am wondering if they will be separated from the mp3's that I already have on there.

message 226: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Jenny, I tried what you suggested and it didn't work for me. I downloaded the book from Audible.com and my Nook wouldn't recognized it.

Konnie (mrsnaz) Eileen wrote: "Jenny, I tried what you suggested and it didn't work for me. I downloaded the book from Audible.com and my Nook wouldn't recognized it."

I went through this when I first got my Nook. My husband bought me a mini SD card to add my audible books and it wouldn't work. I "heard" on the Nook boards over at B&N.com that audible audio books won't work on the Nook. I am so disappointed! I would really love to have all of my electronic books in one place. If someone finds a way around it I would be thrilled!

message 232: by Konnie (new)

Konnie (mrsnaz) I just finished One for the Money. It was a quick and fun read!

I am now totally devouring The Last Queen.

I am also still working on The Passage, but I am listening to this on my iPod.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I found that I have a Nook roadblock. As of recently, I noticed that 7 seems to be the magic number for me on how high I will go to purchase a book for the Nook. Is that weird or what? If it's over 7 dollars I'll either get it from the library or see if Amazon/Wal-Mart/B&N online has a good deal on a hardback or paperback.

Beastly by Alex Flinn is 6.99
The Rest Falls Away (Gardella Vampire Chronicles, #1) by Colleen Gleason is 5.99
so I snagged those two.

The Passage is 9.99 for ebook, so I decided to order it hardback in order to be able to share it with my husband when I'm done. He's never wanted to use my ereader because he's afraid if it gets broken I'll throw him out!

My road block is at 5...for some reason 6 seems to be too much, maybe it's my obsession with used book stores...lol.

message 239: by Tina (new)

Tina (tmgfive) | 7 comments my road block is 10- although i have paid 12 if its something i really want to read- and was glad to have read the passage on my nook as it is 800 pages- thats some pounds to lug around and the nook is so light!

message 240: by Leana (new)

Leana (craftychick) | 18 comments I just can't .ale myself spend the same on an eBook as a physical book. So when ebooks were coming out at $10 I got used to that and stuck with it as my roadblock since prices have gone up. One of the books that I want went from $15 to $11 so I may give in. :-)

message 241: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 340 comments I don't seem to have a roadblock. I kind of wish I did! If it is on my eWish List I will buy it when I finish another book. But now I am making myself only buy after I have finished a different book that I bought...so anything I read that I got for free I don't buy anything after it.

My mom on the other had has a $5 roadblock I think. She only wants to buy books that are less than that otherwise she will wait.

message 242: by Leana (new)

Leana (craftychick) | 18 comments That's still stopping you from buying meghan. I may have a price point but I have a lit of paperbacks to still read. I don't want to though cause they aren't on my Nook!! How bad is that!

But I figure ill get around to them eventually or ill sell them since they are in awesome condition and then buy them in an eBook after all :-)

I know how you feel, Leana! I have barely spent any time with my nook in the past week or so because I am trying to get through a few paper library books. I miss the nook. I used to be a strictly library kind of gal, but that is quickly changing with the nook. It's so easy to buy ebooks...

message 244: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) I will buy books that are more than $5, but it sure takes a lot of thought and arguing with myself. I got The Winds of War and War and Remembrance which were both $10, but I thought about it for about a week, and then finally committed. I am glad I got them on the nook, since they are both about 900 pgs...but that $10 kinda hurt!

message 245: by Sandra (last edited Aug 10, 2010 03:16PM) (new)

Sandra (sleo) If I see a book I think I might want to read, I always download a sample. After I read the sample if I don't want to stop, I figure it's worth buying.

I don't mind the same price for ebooks. I know the formatting is just as difficult for them as for regular books, if not more so, as they have to fit so many different models. Except for the Kindle, of course, which only uses one format. One reason I bought the Nook instead, as a matter of fact.

And the biggest reason I bought the Nook is for the fact that I can adjust the print size. I have a really hard time reading small print in paperbacks.
So the convenience is worth a little more to me.
I also have a big pile of regular books to read, though, because unfortunately, they aren't out in ebook format! Then, if available, I try to buy trade paperbacks, or used hardcovers. For the print size!

I agree. I love the ease of it for sure. I do wish that the books that I buy from other online sources would go to the same place as the books that I buy that aren't from B&N. I am totally OCD about a lot of things and that just drives me crazy! :D. Lame, I know!

I agree Sandra on the print size too! Love not having to wear my reading glasses with my Nook. And I don't have to make it super big to read it. then I don't feel like I am spending so much time is spent turning pages. But if I need to make it bigger - usually towards the end of the day when my eyes are tired - I can make it bigger to help ease the stress of it.

At the beginning, there were a lot of little quirks that drove me bonkers about the Nook, but with each of the enhancements to the software, I love it more and more! I love Sudoku on it now! Sometimes I sit down to read and end up playing it for an hour instead. He he he!

I am overall extremely happy with it :D, so I will continue to support it and my happiest place on earth, B&N! I just hope either discounts will start to be offered, or prices drop back down. I see the first one being the most likely scenerio. Speaking of which, did anyone see in the B&N email today it showed a 30% off coupon for the Nook accessories! That is a first! So there is hope!
