Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) Please use this thread for posting your updates, motivating other readers, providing any help or fun, having fun quizzes, general chit-chat, and just about anything.

Participation in this thread is voluntary, and is only meant to provide everyone an venue to talk about their reading progress and anything else on their minds. If you'd rather just provide a complete summary at the end, that is fine too.

That's what we're here for!! To motivate to read and not sleep. LOL!! :) I had to fight that too, after just coming back from a tiring interview. I did catch a nap, but I'm sure a few hours later, I'll be aching for a little more sleep.

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) I decided to start with my favorite read (and re-read) Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone!

message 35: by Susan (new)

Susan I am continuing to read "Casting Off" by Nicole Dickson.

message 36: by Joanie (last edited Mar 26, 2010 09:33PM) (new)

Joanie (joaniemaloney) Sounds like everyone's busy reading.;)

I had to start half an hour late so I've been reading for about two hours now, just finished Surfacing, so I'm allowing myself a quick break. It's been on my to-read pile for a while, so I'm grateful for this read-a-thon! Starting on The Princess Bride before bed. I'll get some sleep and read more tomorrow.:)

message 37: by Ramya (new)

Ramya | 3 comments I am kind of slow... slower than the normal pace of my reading. The tough week is taking a toll on me. Hope I keep up the spirits!!!!!

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

I've started to read Murder With Peacocks and if I finish it I'm gonna finish off one of the two other books that I'm reading at the moment.

message 39: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C I missed the first hour because my nap went a little long but I have been reading for 2 hours and now that I have had this little break, I have fought off sleep and reading to get back to the book. Reading these posts have definitely helped me get motivated again. Thank you cheerleaders!!!!!!

message 40: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ After four hours I finally finished by first book, Succubus Heat. It was good but not as good as the first 2 books in the series.

message 41: by Kate (new)

Kate (kathrynlouwca) I started late. I am 39 pages into The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game. I watched the movie in preparation yesterday, and it is a good thing because without it, I don't think I could have gotten through all of the football jargon of the first couple chapters!

message 42: by Tiff (last edited Mar 26, 2010 11:15PM) (new)

Tiff (utbooklady) | 65 comments I just finished my first book - Need. I was on page 35 at start of the competition, so that's 271 total pages read so far.

I did take a nap for about an hour, so I've been reading for a total of 3 hours so far.

message 43: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Gilmore After going to sleep for an hour or so, I finished Undead and Unwed. I only had about 120 to go with that one. I'm moving on to my next book.

Michelle - when you have your next break, you'll have to let me know what you thought of Undead and Unwed. I LOVE the Betsy series! I had the opportunity to meet with MJD for a dinner/book club meet last year in November, she writes like she talks. Just hilarious! I recommend you continuing with the series if you enjoyed it. I love them all :)

Michelle - when yo..."

My left over Thai food was calling me, so I've extended my break, lol! I loved Undead and Unwed. I've just moved Undead and Unemployed up to #1 on my tbr list. I was lucky to get most of the series at the used bookstore a while ago, when another customer recommended the series to me; she insisted I get them all. I am kicking myself now for not starting this series sooner. Undead and Unwed was just what I needed to end the work week. I thought it was funny, and just the right amount of romance and drama. It didn't fall short where a lot of other books that are the 1st in the series do. The world building wasn't all complicated and boring. I also have Sleeping with the Fishes and Derik's Bane, and now I have plans on getting the rest of the books in those series as well.

message 46: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I just finished Untouched, and 300 pages. Now I'm starting Strange Brew. I'm in California and it's 11:51 p.m.

message 47: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) After 5 hrs. of reading I'm taking my first break. I finished Silent Prey about 11:30, an hour and half into the Read-a-thon. Was gonna start Cold River, but decided on Fallen instead. I'm almost half way through it. Going to get some coffee and read more. Catch ya later.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I am thinking if I should take my sleep break now. I do have an early morn. But I only have to be awake and alert for 2 hours, lol. I can come home and rest if I really need it. I may just rest for a bit, then get back into it.

Either way I do need an EYE BREAK after almost 3 hours straight. WTG everyone!!!

message 49: by Roseann (new)

Roseann | 185 comments Well, I finished my second one a while ago, but had to get into something much lighter to ease the pain. I don't know why I put myself through the misery of animal stories when I know how they are going to end.

2. A BIG LITTLE LIFE: A MEMOIR OF A JOYFUL DOG by Dean Koontz. 271 pgs.

This bring my total at 12:33am PST to:

Two Books
436 pgs.

message 50: by Afsana (new)
