The Cute Little Brown-haired girl :) whatever

Dave Russell I'm a college dropout so all I can do is point and laugh.

The Cute Little Brown-haired girl Actually, I had an internship and they hired me less than two months into it. Sadly, I was downsized and the company went out of business for owing their printer in Singapore a few million. It was a publisher here in Oregon.

So, yeah, I did have an internship. No need to be snarky!

The Cute Little Brown-haired girl Honestly! People on here posting about farts and you want to rip on me for hating not being able to find a job? I hate the economy that dictates that unless you have had 2-5 years of experience doing the specific thing you are looking for, even with a myriad of talents, skills, and similar experience (or exact experience, just not for 2+ years) they throw your resume in the garbage. It is like being a goldfish in a swimming pool and hoping someone will notice that you can swim.

I hate being well-educated as well.

I'm a cube monkey, surrounded by people with base interests. I don't want to do what I do for a living anymore, but it pays the bills and it pays very well. So I get what you're complaining about, Jill. Still, it's demeaning to me, and I'm sure to you, that you've got all this intellect and education, and you have to beg for a job. Any job. Sigh.

Lisa Jill, I understand. It took me a year to find a job I was overqualified for (granted, I was looking for a job I was overqualified for, because it seemed I was underqualified to be faculty, and I wouldn't be any good at it, anyway...as I've always said, if I had to publish or perish, I'd perish. And fast.)

And if I Hate Goodreads is viable around here as a topic, because, surprise, surprise, most people are fucking stupid, I figure it's okay to hate being overeducated. Suddenly it's even clearer how inane and train-wreck-like way too many people are. And they're all in our way. (and I include all you smart people as able to see the train wreck, not just those of us that threw all of our dollars, one by one, into that sinkhole called education, chanting, "it loves me, it loves me not, it loves me...")

Dave Russell Given your Star Wars references in the other thread and now this post, I like you a little better now.

Carlie I hate being overeducated for a completely different reason. I see these undereducated people (mostly on tv) and they are completely ignorant of their stupidity and I am jealous because they seem happy. They are quite confident and voice their opinions readily. WHereas I think too much and can't be as happy because I am overly concerned about the state of our world today. I think it bliss to blindly love everything about my country, hate foreigners and tell them to go home constantly, shoot a gun for release, and think I am right all the time and everyone who disagrees with me is a fa**** commie bastard and tune out to any reasonable comment they make.
Yes, I would be wrong but at least I'd be happy sans this bleeding heart.

Amanda (randymandy) Yep, I've longed for ignorant bliss a time or two. Carlie, you're making me like you. Stop that, would ya? Jesus...

message 12: by Carlie (new)

Carlie need I remind you I hate shakespeare? That should take care of it. This too shall pass. I for one like everybody, even commie bastards.

message 13: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) Yes. That took care of it! Good job!

:) ha
