Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments This author is not only fake, but I'm certain that the book under this author is also fake.

Why? I found a library that has a copy. The author's name is Effy Oz.

Dori (adorible) | 196 comments RE: message 46--I've updated all the incorrect "Hook" authors to their full names (or in one case--Dook), but there are the Japanese entries that I don't have a clue about still left.

I got HOOK -- it was the name of the software company that made the game HoneyComing, but all of the books listed were manga or novelizations with actual authors.

I see. I must have jumped to conclusions at what looked like gibberish to my eyes. Dyslexic moment.

It did have an odd (several abbreviations and an asterisk) title. Blame Amazon. :P

Okay, so the dyslexia wasn't to blame then.

Got it.

message 63: by Heather (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments These are movies, not books, unless I'm mistaken, under this "author's" name.
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

message 64: by Heather (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments I can't say about any of the other books, but I have a pretty good idea that Nick Jonas does not write about game trails.

Indeed. Gone.

message 66: by Heather (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments This "author" doesn't have any books attributed, but it does have an insane number of quotes. I'm not sure about the policy on this sort of thing.
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

message 67: by Heather (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments It appears that a few of these are movies, not scripts or screenplays.

I lean towards leaving this one, unless someone wants to correct each to have the specific book of the Bible it's from. But I don't feel very strongly.

What's wrong with this author's record?

message 72: by Heather (last edited Mar 10, 2010 01:24PM) (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments I thought the name of the author wasn't right because of the books under his name.

message 73: by rivka, Former Moderator (new)

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
It agrees with the book covers. Looks like a pen-name, but that's ok.

message 74: by Heather (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments OK. Good to know.

message 75: by Heather (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments This author has a couple books to his name, but one of them looks like a CD, not a book.

message 76: by Heather (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments Single-name author; not sure if it's just a pen name.

And it was not a CD. It was a book by David C. King.

The Psalms I moved over to Anonymous.

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments Nice. Thanks for the help.

message 80: by Dori (new)

Dori (adorible) | 196 comments Got the DVD's in message 67 and reattributed the script to the correct author.

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments Excellent. Thanks, Dori.

message 82: by Heather (last edited Mar 10, 2010 03:42PM) (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments Judging by the fact that most of the books under this author are books used to instruct people on how to use Microsoft programs, I'm sure these have a more legitimate sounding author name.

message 83: by Cait (last edited Mar 10, 2010 03:52PM) (new)

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments At a guess, the ELF in question is either Microsoft Enterprise Learning Foundation or a now-defunct company called "Electronic Learning Facilitators". They might have individual authors creditable as well, though.

message 86: by Almofada (new)

Almofada | 4 comments This author's name needs a bit of correction:
http://www.goodreads.com/search/searc...

He is written "Joachim-Ernst Berendt", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joachim-..., all other variations I encountered are "not quite right"
I'll do that correction(s) after coming home, ok?

???, this is an attribute to a name, indicating that the author belongs to the religious order of Jesuits:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Societas...
the "Dr." is preceeding the name, the "S.J." is a suffix.
So not a single name author...

Ah, it was probably imported with a comma preceding it and the system assumed it was a new author name. Sounds like it needs to be removed from those books, then (since we don't keep titles on names for the GR catalog anyway). Thanks for the info, Almofada!

message 89: by Heather (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments Single name author. Some of the book titles are in what appears to be Italian.

They seem to be correct. There's a one-name illustrator by that name, and an 1800's author.

message 93: by Heather (new)

Heather (creaturefromthesea) | 831 comments Another single name author. It looks like this one might be the name of some sort of publisher or other company.

uh, no. books of Maria de Lourdes Krieger are in Portuguese, and "No voy a dormir" is Spanish ;-)
Obviously, there are some authors where the import function accepts only pre-name and family name. but the Spanish and Portuguese names are much more complicated...
