Mortal Instruments - C. Clare
I would read an adult series from Clare. Just because her style is one way with YA (or even TMI series) doesn't mean it would be the same for a different genre. I find Kelly Armstrong's YA writing to be quite a bit different from her UF/PNR books. Same with Rachel Vincent.
The COFA cover has been announced! OMG. I love it.<3http://cassandraclare.livejournal.com...
At first I didn't know if I was as crazy about it as I was for the previous covers. . .but I've decided I am! I definitely am! <3 AHHH. I'M SO EXCITED.
Clockwork Angel's probably my favorite too. :) I thought her eyes looked off in the long shot too, but then I saw the close up and I thought they looked really good. I think on the book jacket her eyes will look nice, like in the close up (or at least I hope so.)
I like it, but it seems weird to see Clary's face. I still love it! I love the way the you can see the light really coming from the Jace's ring.
I found that odd too. Clare did say they wanted the next part of the series to have a different look then TMI part.
Yeah, I saw that on Twitter, and I totally get it. It is part of TMI, but separate. I guess I am just like having something left to my imagination. I like that there will be at least two people on the covers though. Ah, I hope we get to see Jace's face! In a way that could be good or bad.
Oh man. Hopefully they get Alex Pettyfer to be the cover model, ahaha. Nahh, that's impossible, but how awesome would that be? ;)And I know what you mean. Clary's a lot prettier in my mind. I like the actress who's going to play her more then the covergirl.
The cover girl looks too old or something? Or maybe cause I always pictures Clary as cute and short, not leggy (the model looks tall to me). Also, the model looks so familiar! Like I've seen her on something or somewhere...
She does seem older, I feel like she's not a teenager. . . O.o She seems more like in her early 20s. And she does look leggy.
I struggled to get halfway through City Of Bones & I stopped many times during that time. But once I hit the halfway point (or maybe a little further in) & really gave it a fair shot, I was hooked. And then, when I read City Of Ashes, I was in love.
There are 3 in TMI. Then there's going to be 3 books as a part of the prequel series (The Infernal Devices) and then a Part Two of TMI books that will be three books long. The storyline is wrapped up at the City of GlassSPOILER ALERT
Yes they do.
She was contracted for a trilogy so her plot lines were set for 3 books. Then they expanded it so that's why you've got the 2 parts which are a little confusing. The 4th isn't out yet. It'll have diff characters though.
Im thinking I need COFA on my ereader and as a hard copy so i can touch it and smell it. Anyone ever notice good books smell better than bad books. lol nvm lets all act as if I didnt say that. Im trippin' today to much work not enough play with the nookie. :(
I am not really into autographed stuff either. The only time I really wanted a signed book and a autograph was one year when I had plans to go to DragonCon. I was going to get a Wheel of Time book signed by Robert Jordan and a autograph from James Marsters. I couldn't go that year and RJ got sick after that. I never had the opportunity to meet RJ and kick myself to this day.
Hmmm, to purchase the new book or not? I bought the box set of the previous three. I'm wondering if I should wait for the next three to come out that way. Problem is, they might just clump them all together so I'd have to buy books 1-3 again.
Hmmm that is a dilemma....I wouldn't want to wait to read it so I'll be buying it...probably as an e-book though
For those who can't get enough Jace, here's his second cameo in the curseworkers series by Holly Black :
"That stoner dude, Jace, says he hooked up with someone over the summer," Kevin whispers. "But I hear all the pictures he's showing around are really pictures of his half sister. Fifty bucks says there's no girlfriend."
So the Curse Worker books take place in the Immortal Instruments realm. Is it better to read all of Clare's books before moving on to Blacks?Or does it really not matter?
Actually, it doesn't. Clare and Black are friends who proof each other's books so they have their characters make cameos in each other's series. Two of Blacks characters have a brief conversation with Jace and Clary in City of Bones, and Jace appears as an "alternate universe" Jace in both White Cat and Red Glove. The curseworkers books are very fun though. I like the mafia family vibe. The lead is male, which is different. They have a theme that I haven't seen in a series before, and their magic comes with consequences.
Now, if you haven't read Clockwork Angel by Clare, that is one I'd say is one you should read if you get the chance before City of Fallen Angels comes out. There are a couple of crossover characters and details between the series. I have the feeling Camille from CA will show up in CoFA because she's shown talking to Magnus at the end of CoG.
Wow! Thanks for the info. I feel so guilty I read City of Bones on the day it first released, but haven't read anything after that. I faithfully buy every title though, so I'm thinking of doing a huge Clare marathon read in April.
Dont feel bad Shera I've had the box set for over a year and read City of Bones before I got the box set, read City of Ashes as soon as I got the Box set and I am just now getting to City of Glass.
I wouldn't read them for Jace. He is barely mentioned and if you didn't know it wouldn't be obvious. I would only suggest reading her books if you are interested in them.

I have been interested in White Cat for some time but I feel like I read some bad reviews for it and got turned off. >< Hopefully I'll be able to give it a try sometime.
I think Carrie wasn't fond of it, iirc. She is more than welcome to correct me if I'm wrong, I'm posting from a tiny device and not really wanting to check atm.I loved White Cat, and most of my friends who've read it loved it as well. The world is so different from anything I've read before. Her other fae series didn't impress me as much.
Okidoke! It's good to hear some praise for it. I really shouldn't judge a book by reviews, but I do sometimes. :X
I've heard mixed reviews. I love Black and White Cat sounds so awesome I just have to find out for myself.
If I read them I'd download them instead of buying the hardcover/paperback probably. The covers aren't that great IMO & not worth the shelf room. Most likely I'd just get them from the library though.*I lied. I just checked the cover out again and I actually really like it. hmmm.

I liked it, I just didn't love it. It was different and I liked the world, but I hate when nothing surprises me in a book and I saw everything coming with WC.
I think anybody that has it on their tbr list should give it a try. I just don't think they should read it for Jace since his name is only mentioned in passing very briefly. I thought people might think he was mentioned more than he is. What is posted here and other places is all there is. You won't read any more about him by reading the whole book.

Her humor is definitely there. She is witty with her characters and she does not paint her characters all fluffy and happy.
