It starts at 4:15. C'mon! ;) Will let you know what I think when I get back.

A lot of my friends are Team Jacob (even though we're all in our mid to late 30's) but thank heavens for my friend at work. She and I are die hard Rob Pattinson fans. We have a Rob calendar at work to look at all day and we both have Team Edward shirts. She even has an Edward Cullen pillow case! Haha!

Pattinson definitely brings out my inner dirty old lady! I figure I can't lose with REMEMBER ME. A REALLY hot older man in Pierce Brosnan (who's actually pretty close to my age) and a REALLY hot young one!

Heidi Oh you women! Poor Rob. :)

I'm thinking he's the luckiest man alive to have all us ladies drooling over him. LOL! Oh, to have 20 minutes alone with him! *evil grin*

P.S. Yes, I'm married and yes, my hubby knows about my obsession. He read the Twilight series and liked it too. We have a standing joke that I can have Edward and he can have Alice. ;)

It would DEFINITELY take much longer than 20 minutes!

The Edward character is good, but young Mr. Pattinson on his own beats him all to hell!

message 108: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Melodie - I think the Edward facination really went into overdrive after the first Twilight movie because everyone fell in love with Robert. So the question is - do women love Robert or Edward??? p.s. I actually still wonder if Robert is secretly gay (sensitive creative musician type), but if he is he really needs to work on his grooming!

message 109: by [deleted user] (new)

OK, ladies, the movie was good! Rob did a great job and I really liked the other actors in the movie. It was what I expected but yet a surprise. Don't want to tell you anything about it because I don't want to ruin it. :)

As far as the Edward vs. Rob thing, I fell in love with Edward before I ever knew about Rob. As a wife and mother who takes care of everything, I loved how Edward took care of Bella. *sigh* But when I saw Rob as Edward and heard some of his songs, OME (Oh My Edward)! Now, it's more about Rob than it is about Edward. I love his awkwardness in interviews, the way he jokes about himself, his crazy hair that he is always running his fingers through... OK, I think I'm done now. Hehe!

I think I just love Rob, not Edward. If Edward was real, I would probably press stalking charges :-) There's something about a dirty and scruffy blond (or is it brown now?) boy with an accent that gets me.

Melodie (melodieco) Heidi wrote: "Melodie - I think the Edward facination really went into overdrive after the first Twilight movie because everyone fell in love with Robert. So the question is - do women love Robert or Edward??? ..."

I had never heard of Rob Pattinson and the first pictures I saw of him & Kristen Stewart months before the movie came out couldn't have disappointed me more. I thought he was 200% wrong for Edward. Once the movie came out I thought he was okay, even though he still doesn't fit my mind's eye picture of Edward. He really started to grow on me when I caught him on different shows doing promos for the 1st movie. He was clearly SO uncomfortable doing it that he appealed to my maternal instinct first. Now I never think of him maternally anymore, tho I wouldn't mind being his "mommy" for a couple of days!

message 112: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I just started listening to The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks on audiobook. I am not normally into non fiction, but it has been highly praised. Anyway, I was very tickled to find out that the actress that read the part of Aibileen in The Help is on it.

message 113: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) | 29 comments Some recent non-YA I read was Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. I LOVED it! Similar to THE HUNGER GAMES in concept but just as good in a different way. And I LOVE all Agatha Christie books. Her murder mysteries are fabulous :)

Haha right now I'm actually in the process of buying every single Agatha Christie book still in print today :) Along the way I'm allowing myself a book every two weeks or so. I don't want to run out!! Tehe but aside from that I'm reading After the Funeral right now!

message 115: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Buying all Agatha Christie! Wow! Out of curiosity - how many books did she write? I have mainly read the Poirot books - I'm not as big a fan of Ms. Marple. I also like the movies when they show them on PBS or other channels.

message 116: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Wow. I had no idea about the pen name!

message 117: by Jo (new)

Jo | 16 comments I just finished the third book in Ilona Andrews's Kate Daniels series (Magic Strikes). I absolutely loved it. I would highly recommend the series to anyone who likes urban fantasy.

message 118: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I've never known why authors do that though, write under pen names - especially if they are going to put their real name on the same book. I was shelving books at the library and noticed Nora Roberts (I think) does that, but has both her names really big, but why?

MissHavoc {Cry Havoc! Reviews} (misshavoc) | 5 comments I really recommend Moon Called the first in the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. Very good PNR w/out alot of snuff. If you want more naught PNR I recommend Mona Lisa Awakeningbook 1 in the Monere' series by Sunny.

message 120: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Hey those are actually good points, some I didn't consider. I guess I should have elaborated. Why would an already established author (Nora Roberts) right under a different name. On the covers it says Nora Roberts as Blankity Blank - or something like that.

Going from your explanation, I would think it's because it's a totally different genre than her usual books. That makes sense. :}

Megan Crane does that too but I think she does it because the books writen under her pen name, Caitlin Crews are Harlequin steamy romances. :)

message 122: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ok ladies. You will be glad to know I am finally finished with the most excellent The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot on audio and will now be starting Shannen and Peep's beloved Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning on audio. Ugh - hate that cover!

message 123: by [deleted user] (new)

Don't be hating on the cover!

message 124: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (last edited Mar 24, 2010 10:32AM) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) LOL. So use another cover. Hahaha @ the the thought of V'lane on audio! I'm serious, someone create a Fever Series topic so I can gossip about it.

message 125: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I know some of you also like Bridget Jones. Just thought I would also recommend Holly's Inbox. It is very simular, but via email instead of diary.

message 126: by Annie (new)

Annie Oosterwyk Me too, I think it was the weather. I did suck up The Conspiracy of Kings (holding one eye closed) and now I can't wait for the next one.

message 127: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Bluemoon - that stinks! I have had that happen recently too (sinus headache)! That is the good thing about listening to audio books - you don't have to strain your eyes. The weather here in IL has been driving my sinuses crazy!

message 128: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Double ugh Bluemoon :(

message 129: by [deleted user] (new)

Sorry about your migraines, Bluemoon and Annie. :(

I just noticed your new picture. Is that Peeta?

No, silly girl, that is Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Peeta is a blonde and has more chest hair. ;)

I have to admit, I wasn't a fan of the Fever series. I picked it up out of curiosity after reading everyone's comments. I just wasn't drawn to the story or characters. I'm curious to know what you think after you read them. I seem to be in the minority. =)

Heidi Annie wrote: "Heidi,

No. I Wish. (heavy sigh)

message 134: by Heidi (new)

Heidi That's ok Lana. I am routinely not a fan of everything that people rave about (if you haven't noticed). I am only on disk 2 out of 9 -- so will let you know next week sometime when I am done!

message 135: by Annie (new)

Annie Oosterwyk Nice jaw! I did have to google the name ("silly girl" is right). I loved him on Third Rock.

I am taking the train to Boston and packing The Help- Gee, I hope I don't get back strain. If anyone who loves me is reading this..."I REALLY WANT A KINDLE!!

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Heidi wrote: "I know some of you also like Bridget Jones. Just thought I would also recommend Holly's Inbox. It is very simular, but via email instead of diary."

You might like Love, Rosie (it has a couple other names too) by Cecelia Ahern. I haven't read Holly's Inbox but I will put it on my list

message 137: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) /sings/Did somebody say Kiiiiiinnnnnddddlllleee?!

You get one and join us. Unlike other people on here would have you believe, just because you have a Kindle doesn't mean you'll hate paper books. As long as my library is free I will read physical books, hahaha.

Hooray for reading the Help!

Ha! p.s. Annie - please see the movie thread if you want more details on why in the world I even have Joseph's picture up! It is all Shannen's fault. Good luck lugging that HUGE book with you on the train. I hope you can get up out of your seat from all the strain.

Whoops - almost missed this comment. I will check out that book too Jamie!

message 140: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Here's what I have been reading that isn't YA

Let Me Call You Sweetheart by Mary Higgins Clark which is typically MHC creepy. I'm liking it. I'm also reading Maisie Dobbs by Jacqueline Winspear. I've had problems getting into that one. I'm listening to it on audio and having trouble getting in to the accent. Lots of times I really like books on audio like The Help (a point for Heidi) and The Book Thief. I loved the Jim Dale HP audio books as well. But Maisie Dobbs I am struggling through. I'm also listening to the Girl with the Pearl Earring but I just started that one.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Okay, I have to ask... is The Help really that great? I see it everywhere, and I always think about picking it up, but then I read the cover (again) and just don't feel like it's my thing AT ALL!

So, I'm curious, what's so great about it? (in a completely spoiler free way of course) I don't mean it as an insult I just can't wrap my head around it.

message 142: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) Well Brittany as someone who grew up in the 50's and 60's in the north, I didn't have a clue what everyday life was like for the people who lived and worked in the south during that time frame. To me it was an eye opener from that perspective. It seemed to me that the characters were well developed with the consequences of their actions ever present. It is a very well written novel. Give it a try.

message 143: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Sheila!!!!! You are awesome! You are fitting right in here aren't you (giving me points :)? You mentioned The Help (point) AND Harry Potter on audio!!!!! Those are my favorites. (I own all the HP audiobooks). No one on here will jump on the audiobook bandwagon with me. So glad to have a kindred spirit (as Anne would say). Have you listened to The Book Thief on audio -- it is also on my favorites on audio. I also love all the Stephanie Plum books on audio. I used to listen to all the Mary Higgens Clark books on audio -- they are really good that way. They are cheesy, but in a good way -- I liked Let me Call You Sweetheart :)

message 144: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Brittany! Ambiguous Gale would be soooo disappointed in you to know you are questioning my good taste in books. You must read The Help right after Book Thief, which I know you will love too. p.s. The Help is best on audiobook, but no one will listen to me about that!

message 145: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 56 comments I have a soft spot for romances. I've really liked some Jude Deveraux books that are kind of paranormaly.

A Knight in Shining Armor (Montgomery Saga, #15) by Jude Deveraux Remembrance by Jude Deveraux Legend by Jude Deveraux Forever (Forever Trilogy, #1) by Jude Deveraux Always (Forever Trilogy, #3) by Jude Deveraux Forever and Always (Forever Trilogy, #2) by Jude Deveraux

And some historical romances.

The Velvet Promise Saga Montgomery (Book 1) by Jude Deveraux The Duchess (Montgomery Saga, #9) by Jude Deveraux The Heiress (Montgomery Saga, #5) by Jude Deveraux Velvet Angel Saga Montgomery (Book 4) by Jude Deveraux The Black Lyon by Jude Deveraux Mountain Laurel (Montgomery Saga, #7) by Jude Deveraux The Taming (Peregrine, #1) by Jude Deveraux

I've also read and liked several books by Madeline Hunter.

I love Urban Fantasy, too. But recently, YA has been pretty much all I've been reading.

message 146: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Also Brittany - I already explained further down wny I loved The Help (funny, suspenseful, historical, uplighting) AND you must read two books back to back with only two word titles and one of the words is "The" :) p.s. I totally did not think the Help was anything I wanted to read either.

message 147: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Amanda - I don't normally read romances, but have you ever read any Debbie Macomber books? I have thought about checking one of those out.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Heidi wrote: "Brittany! Ambiguous Gale would be soooo disappointed in you to know you are questioning my good taste in books. You must read The Help right after Book Thief, which I know you will love too. p.s..."

Why would apply-named Gale be upset with my not taking your advice? You have no loyalty to him and cancel his events! You aren't making a very good case for yourself there Heidi!

Ha! I had to try. Just read it Brittany - geez! Ask your Gale leader Peep, she will agree with me on this one!

message 150: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) The last thing I'd like to do is agree with someone from Team Peeta but those two books are definitely awesome - you know, like Gale.

Seriously, you learn so much from both books. This is kind of cheesy but you'll likely laugh and cry reading those two. The Book Thief hurt my throat because I was trying not to cry in front of my kids.
