Yes Stacia, WoT is epic fantasy. All major characters have a romance, but the series isn't centered on it at all. It has more romance than say Lord of the Rings, but it's not anything like PNR. Heather wrote: "Oh ya Carrie, when did you want to try and read that?"
I was thinking maybe November. I figured I would need something to take my mind off of WoT after Nov. 2.
Stacia wrote: "@ Shera, I'm a huge Tairen Soul fan. I'm trying to get Carrie to read TS and she's trying to get me to read WoT. Although, I think WoT is more epic fantasy (correct me if I'm wrong Carrie), whereas TS is fantasy romance. I'm a fan of both styles if done right."
Oh, that's good to know. I've read some good fantasy romance. The Warlord Chronicles and the spin off series from there was definitely one I enjoyed. But I'm pretty much bran-spanking new to romantic fantasy.
I have never read any romantic fantasy. UF and PNR, but nothing that is epic fantasy with heavy romance. It should be interesting.
Carrie (Care) wrote: "Great, I just added some to my tbr list! I love YA and UF, but I feel a need to read more epic stuff lately. I just heard of a really interesting series
, so I plan..."Carrie that is by far my favorite series! I am in LOVE with it!! Seriously. By far the only series I would EVER re-read!
The Kusheil's Legacy series? Ok, I might have to move it up my list, lol. I don't know how I'm ever going to read all the books I want. At least there are too many great books and not enough. How sad would that be?
For those who have read Kushiel's Dart, have you also read the Black Jewels
trilogy? I heard they were similar and didn't care much for Black Jewels, so never bothered with Kushiel's.
I read a Black Jewels short story and couldn't get into it. I might try it some day if I run out of things, but it's not even on my TBR list.

I have a friend who read both and says Kushiel's Dart is for reader who can't stand the Black Jewels tri.
Shera wrote: "I have a friend who read both and says Kushiel's Dart is for reader who can't stand the Black Jewels tri. "That's funny, since I've heard the exact opposite. Then maybe I should give it a chance, some time in the future.
I've heard both. I think you've just got to try them and make your own opinion. I held off reading Wicked Lovely because everyone said it was a cheap rip off of Tithe. Honestly I think I like Wicked Lovely more.
I didn't care for Tithe, but I liked Wicked Lovely. I haven't read the rest in the series though. I kind of liked it the way it ended.
The ending was good. Book 2 was terrible for me, so dissappionting after WL. Word on the block is that book 3 is much better.
I enjoyed the Sevenwaters series...a lot, but Jacqueline Carey is still my favorite series author.Ok- Carrie I would put the Kushiel series at the TOP of your list! I feel like a stalker. lol.
The books are quite thick and there are quite a few... once I started to read I was definitely obsessed!
Lol, ok. I know what it's like to be obsessed with a series. I have to read Tairen Soul first though. Not to mention all the others I have for my challenges (oh, and the second Shifter book, or Heather will crack her whip :P). Hmmm, maybe I can use some of the Kushiel series in a challenge.

Hi!
I'm Zuleika, 18 and a student from Amsterdam. Like most people, I got hooked on paranormal romance/urbanfantasy thanks to the Sookie Stackhouse series. I read for comfort/escapism so I read a lot of paranormal and contemporary romance, (urban)fantasy and YA (paranormal and regular). I especially love kickbutt heroines, so 'Kate Daniels', 'Night Huntress' and 'Guild Hunters' are my favorite paranormal series.
I've joined other groups before but I always forgot/got to intimidated to post, but I'm hoping that will change with this group :)

Hi Zuleika! You will find a lot of us love those books as well here. Don't be intimidated, everybody here is great!
Aw, thanks everybody for the welcome!
I'm Lisarenee. I met Heather in another group and she said we liked the same books and she's right. Of course I seldom find a book I don't like so.... My favorite books to read are Romances and anything Paranormal. Paranormal + Romance = Bliss for me. Thanks for the invite Heather.
Hey guys, my name is Jessica, I'm 25 years old and I'm living in Germany. I've always loved to read but since Twilight my reading started to turn from a hobby into an obsession (much to the dismay of my bf ;-)) I'm spending a great deal of my free time with reading or here on Goodreads talking about the books I read. I tend to pick up books with a supernatural theme and from time to time I get this craving for literary fast-food in the form of cutesy YA novels. I've got a thing for YA novels in general though lately I'm starting to venture further into the field of Urban Fantasy. Here some of my favorite books off the top of my head: The Mortal Instrument series, The Hunger Games, Darkest Powers series, The Sword of Truth series, Harry Potter and Perfect Chemistry.Huh, this turned out to be a rather long introduction but I think I'm done now :-) Looking forward to chatting books with you guys!
Welcome Jessica! I love a lot of the same books, except I stopped reading The Sword of Truth, but I liked the first few when I read them.
Carrie (Care) wrote: "Welcome Jessica! I love a lot of the same books, except I stopped reading The Sword of Truth, but I liked the first few when I read them."Thanks Carrie! True, we've got a lot of books in common! Hehe, I can guess why you stopped reading. Somewhere, I think aroung book 8 or 9, the story got extremly boring! I wouldn't have made it through these books without a lot of page skipping but Goodkind managed to get back on track in the last books so I was able to finish this series.
Thanks Zuleika! :-)
Welcome to the group Carrie!! Now I can monopolize you on 2 groups. ^_-I couldn't make it past the first 100 pages or so in The Sword of Truth series. Just seemed like it was trying to hard for such a huge book.
Hi all! I'm Hillary, I'm 26 (ugh) live in Central Florida (east coast woohoo) and love to read. I like just about anything, however I really enjoy Sci-fi, Fantasy, and PNR. One of my Favorite series is the Fever Series. I've noticed some familiar faces around here from other groups, and look forward to discussions with you all!
Hi Everyone my Name is Mira and I am 27 years old, I have been reading for as long as I can remember. Hi, my name is Laura and I have been a book addict since I was a kid. I cut my teeth on Stephen King, Victoria Holt and David Eddings. Oh, and don't forget Tolkien. I became enthralled with paranormal romance after my nieces browbeat me into reading Twilight this past January. In a matter of days, I was hooked - I finished the entire series in a week - didn't get much sleep that week. I just finished Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series - absolutely awesome! If you can get through the early chapters of the first book, it just gets better and better. I am going to start Torment this weekend. I am looking forward to discovering new authors!
