Hi everyone,My name is Kate and I'm a 37 year old from Melbourne Australia. I'm a full time mum to a toddler and I work full time as well, so I can't actually believe I find the time to read, but I do. I love it. I'll read just about anything. I used to read crime and thrillers but ever since I had my baby I can't stand it when people get hurt anymore so I read things that entertain me instead. Dean Koontz, Charlaine Harris, Stephanie Meyer, Anna Gavalda. I'm really glad I found this group, and I hope to get to know you all a lot better.
Hi, I just accidently found this group and although I wasn't planning on joining any more at the moment this one sounds really nice. I thought about waiting and joining later but like doing that with books I figured I'd probably never find you again! lolMy name is Angelika and I'm also from Ontario, Canada. I just love books in general and go through different stages of being hooked on one genre in particular. At the moment it's paranormal/ urban fantasy.
I may start slow with the challenges as with my other groups I feel a bit over-loaded. I understand we can double up here with other groups so that can work, otherwise I would never make it to any of my jobs!
@ Heather - Thanks! I need those, because right now I don't know what to pick up from the library. I'm going to go see if the library has any of those right now. @ Carrie - It's funny because I didn't used to take recommendations from people until I joined goodreads. My tastes were so different from the people I knew because they didn't read much and when they did it wasn't my genre type. Once I joined GR I knew who gave good recommendations and who didn't. LOL! Heather reads so much and so many of the books I like, I figured she probably had a good inkling of which ones were good picks. Also, I'm going to look up that other series you recommended to me. Thanks, I'd be lost sometimes without GR. Just ask my family, I never shut up about it! :D
Welcome Angelika and Kitty! :DJen, I know what you mean. With my family and friends there aren't many that read as much as I do, and even less that read the genres I like. I GR!
My name is Christy mommy of 2 girls and married to a terrific man! I was born and raised in So. Cali but moved to New Jersey 7 years ago. I love to read when time allows. My faves are Harry Potter, Twilight and Blue Bloods. I really enjoy reading YA books even though I'm late twentys. To me if the book is good its just good it doesnt matter who its meant for. I wanted to find a book club out here in New Jersey but it was just impossible. I frequent the library with my 5 year old and hope that my 7 month old will love books too.I hope to make friends and learn some new books to add to my fave list. I hope to become a writer as well someday soon. That is once I'm done with my book. Thanks for letting me join!!
Heather wrote: "Welcome Christy. I grew up in San Diego. What part of Southern Cali are you from?"The High Desert, Hesperia. Definatly not as pretty as San Diego!
Okay, my in-laws are in Yucca Valley (Desert Hot Springs/Twentynine Palms area). We use to spend are weekends out there.

Hi Kate. I have family in Victoria. I would love to go there someday!
Heather wrote: "Okay, my in-laws are in Yucca Valley (Desert Hot Springs/Twentynine Palms area). And my sister and him met and fell in love. of course! He was from New Jersey. SO she moved here and I followed. But I love it here.
Hi, I'm Andrea. I am 30 yrs old. I have 2 little boys, 2yrs, and 7mos. They keep me pretty busy but when I'm not chasing them, I am usually reading. I enjoy most fiction, but am really into the fantacy and paranormal romance genre right now. Looking forward to getting to know everyone here.
Hi Andrea! I have two little boys too, 3 and 16 months. So I was where you are less than a year ago! I am still chasing them, lol. You will find a lot of people here that read those genres. There are tons of good book recommendations here as well. :)
Hi, my name is Jess- married for 8 years and have 6 year old twin boys. Love to read. Favorite series is by far the Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey! Realized that I have read way too many books to even try to remember. Always looking for new series... love to escape with a good book or if I am lucky a good series...
Glad I found the group! :)

Thanks for the welcome to the group! :)
Welcome to all the newbies!! This is a great group!Jess- My 6yr old son just started 1st grade! Such a fun age!
Hello all... My name is Amber, I'm a single mom that loves to read!! I have a 2 yr old that loves to drive me crazy... thank god for all the books i've read to let me escape reality for a little while... as Mrs. Jen knows... I LOVE TWILIGHT!! Best series for me so far!
Amber you're very mean. Reminding me of In-N-Out. Not fair! I use to live right next to one and now I'm in a state where people have no clue what it is. It's one of the few things I miss from Cali.
Have you read Night Huntress yet? It'll take your mind of Twilight for a while. =) I promise!

I have no idea what you guys are talking about, lol. Except it is some kind of restaurant after seeing the burger and fries comments.
It's the best burger place ever. Everything's a 100% fresh and it's just delicious. I think I'm the only one who wasn't a fan when I was younger. When I came back from college I ended up addicted. Now, when my husband and I go to Vegas, San Diego, or LA that's our first stop off of the plane.
They've got good shakes too. They're only in Cali, Nevada, and Arizona.

I didn't get a chance to eat there though.... when I do I am for sure going to eat there.
No I haven't ready Night Huntress... I will have to give it a try! Thanks for the recommendation!

It's been years since I've been to one and I don't remember the burgers anymore. I've seen them in the freezer aisle, but they can't be as good.
I have never eaten a burger at a restaurant or fast food place. I'm sure at some point I did when I was a very young kid, but I don't remember...My husband makes the best burgers ever. I told him he should open a chip truck, he would have people lined up all summer for his burgers.
(this is the other Jen) Heather, I'm not a fan of In-N-Out. In fact, I pretty much refuse to eat there. I just don't get the hype. I'm in AZ, but they are all over the Phoenix metro valley so I could take my pick, but I would rather not. :D haha! But most people do, I just don't get it.
I didn't get it at first, but after trying a Big Mac finally I realized why people like it so much. I was always a nugget kid.

My sister also wondered what all the hype was about until she found out when she visited San Diego where I reside with my family.
The In-N-Out burgers are made fresh to order, the patties are local beef, so they're only refrigerated and not frozen. The beef doesn't come from South America, where they slash&burn forests to have grazing land for export cattle and then factory-processed and blast-frozen so they'll keep for months.
The tomatoes, lettuce and onions are fresh, hand-cut in the store and the fries are made from real potatoes and fresh-cut in the store as well. Some people I know aren't used to fries that are not made from processed potato starch that they don't like the texture of the In-N-Out fries made from real potato.
It's the next best thing to a burger made from ground beef bought from your local butcher shop that you grill on your own, garnished with produce from local farms and fries you personally cut from real potatoes and fried in your kitchen, or Carrie's husband's burgers (though I haven't tried them. I'm just taking Carrie's word for it. Haha!)
I don't knock the other burger joints but they can't claim "FRESH" the way In-N-Out can.
Hi There-I've decided to join a few groups since I am totally book addicted! I am a SAHM of three girls (10, 9 and 9 - twins) and we all love to read.
Twilight and Sookie got me into paranormal as I usually read pop fiction and mysteries mostly. I am excited to see you have a Kate Daniels thread, since I ADORE that series and Magic Bleeds made me absolutely giddy!
I virtually live at my library and read every day, with a pile of books next to the bed in case I get done with one.
I always travel with a book, just in case I have a few minutes down time...
My favorites are Harry Potter, Ilona Andrews, Laurell Hamilton, Patricia Briggs, Patricia Cornwell, Janet Evanovich, The Sookie Series, Michael Connelly, just to name a few...

And I've had fries made from real potato, but I still don't think In-N-Out is that good. To each her own I suppose...
