I agree Angela...the ending of MSK threw me for a loop too, but JP's books all have some surprise ending to them. But I loved the message, I can totally see how as a parent you will do anything and everything to save your sick child, but how easy it would be to fall into the same cycles the mom was in too. You never knowwwwww....

Karli, I read Wicked a couple years ago and I was totally caught off guard by it. The sex in it really blew me away. I knew that a girl at work had taken her stepdaughters to see the show and I was floored, but when I asked her about it we determined that the play are veryyyyyyy loosely based in the book. But like you, I haven't been compelled to pick up the next one, Son of a Witch.

message 403: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) Yeah, I picked up The Outlander by Gil Adamson and am letting Wicked rest for now. I'm enjoying the other more, but want to find out how the rest of Wicked unfolds, you know?!?

karli,

wicked is not a light read as you have to keep the mythology in place, etc. but overall, it's a good book. like you, i didn't feel compelled to read son of a witch. there's also a third book that focuses on the lion.

message 405: by KSMary (new)

KSMary I so agree with the comments on Wicked. I had to finish it but I don't feel that I needed to pick up any of his others. Too weird for me!

message 406: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) I love that we all seem to be on the same page with this one.

message 407: by Jen (new)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments My mother saw the play and absolutely loved it. However, my Aunt is a school teacher who warned my mother not to read the book as it is not the same and not very good. I have yet to hear a good review of the book, but I hear the play is a must see!

message 408: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I really liked the book. It was very different and brought a new perspective to the story. I thought it was very unique and interesting.

message 409: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) Jennifer - did you read the sequel? It's not one I've given up on, but I am resting. I keep thinking of how it eventually ends for these people and kind of want to beat Galinda/Glinda.

message 410: by Elizabeth☮ (new)

Elizabeth☮ i think you should finish Wicked as it is a good book with a good ending to the story. and my understanding is the musical is not like the book. and most people love the musical, but haven't read the book!

message 411: by [deleted user] (new)

There's sex in Wicked. I never would of thought.

message 412: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) I haven't gotten to that part yet. But since the sequel is Son of a Witch, I suppose it had to happen!

message 413: by [deleted user] (new)

Should be interesting at least. :)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments I just finished Changeless. I am somewhat vexed now.

message 431: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) Hi everyone, I am reading

The Darkest Passion by Gena Showalter an I am enjoying it.

For the last month I have been reading the Dark Hunter Series by Sherrilyn Kenyon and had to stop in between to read all the new releases that came out like Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris , Lover Mine by J.R. Ward , and Into the Dark by Gena Showalter

So after I finish with The Darkest Passion I will continue to read the Dark Hunter Series, I left off at Night Play (Dark-Hunter/Were-Hunter, #6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Happy Reading everyone.

message 432: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Ronda, what do you think of the dark hunter series so far?

message 433: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) Jennifer wrote: "Ronda, what do you think of the dark hunter series so far?"

Hi Jennifer, I love it!!!! It brings out all kinds of emotions for me, it makes me laugh, cry, and sit on the edge of my seat. Sometimes I can hardly put the books down and can't wait to get to the next one - LOL My favorite character is Acheron and I can't wait to get to his book to find out if he finally gets a love of his own. I hate Artemis and wish something drastic would happen to her like Archeon killing her or his Demon Dragon Simi would kill her - LOL

Anyway, you can tell I'm all into the series - LOL

How did you like it?

I love it! my best friend turned me onto it and now I'm addicted! She stopped reading after Ash's book, but I don't see how! The whole world she has created is amazing, and since all of the characters reappear how can you not finish the series? I cannot wait for the next two books to get released (I don't want to tell you who theyre about b/c it might be a BIG spoiler for you) but I'm glad I found another dark hunter fan! Ash and Zarek are my favs, but Fang is up there too! Really, whichever book im reading, they become my faves. and Simi!

message 435: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) I love Simi, she cracks me up when she talks about BBQ and seasonings so she can roast her kills - LOL

I loved zareks story, I'm so glad he ended up as a god - and to top it off, he ended up with the FATES baby sister - he couldn't of found anyone better for him. My heart went out to him.

message 436: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Oh I know! I knew he was gonna get a happy ending, but still I was so happy when it finally happened!

message 437: by Angela (new)

Angela B Hmmm I might have to look into this dark hunter series

message 438: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Angela, you definitely should! Its amazing!

message 439: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) I'm reading Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon which had been highly recommended - so far it's OK. It's about 900 pages and I'm 100 in...so I suppose it has a lot of room to get good. It basically seems to be a romance novel though, and that's really not my genre of choice. I'm trying though!

message 440: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) Karli wrote: "I'm reading Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon which had been highly recommended - so far it's OK. ..."

Oh Karli, I loved that series! It was a little bit hard to get into in the beginning but once I got to like the third chapter, I couldn't put the book down. Jaime and Clair are awesome! Their Romance is very hot! hot! hot! - And there are parts of the story that will make you laugh so hard you will have tears coming out of your eyes. To top it off, you will find yourself crying in some parts as well.

You will find yourself rushing into the second book as well - there are 7 more books to follow after reading the first one and they are all good. Read them all in a role if you can.

Even though this is a Historical Romance, I highly RECOMMEND IT! This is one series I know i will be reading again.

message 441: by Karli (new)

Karli (goodreadscomkarli_is_booked) Because of the emphatic recommendations, I got the first 3 in the series together. If I'm really into a series, it will drive me crazy NOT to have the next ones available. It's fine - I'm still waiting for the point where I can't put it down though. That's ok - I need to put the books down and tend to children once in awhile too.

message 442: by Vanessa (new)

Vanessa (freaky_monkey) Has anyone read Burned (House of Night, #7) by P.C. Cast yet? I'm not much of a fan of the series, but I have all the other books and am kinda curious as to what happens next. Anyone know if it's worth it or not?

message 443: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Vicky, I read it. It was much better than hunted and tempted. Not as good as the beginning books, but definitely worth it. I was super discouraged after reading hunted and tempted and wasn't sure if I wanted to continue, but I figured I've already invested in the seried so I might as well finish and I was gald I have it another chance.

message 444: by Ronda (new)

Ronda Tutt (rondatutt) Hi everyone,

I just got finished reading The Darkest Passion by Gena Showalter and it was an Excelent read.

I started Night Play (Dark-Hunter/Were-Hunter, #6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon last night, so far it has been a book that is hard to put down. I love books like that.

Happy Reading everyone!
