Dolly (dollya) Stacy wrote: "Stephanie Plum--and her grandma!"

I agree with this one, it would be so funny to meet them.

Elizabeth (Alaska) I can't imagine a more loyal friend than Olive Kitteridge, and yes, clone her as a teacher.

Kirstin (ktippie) | 28 comments Brenda wrote: "Carrie wrote: "I would love to know Bella from TWILIGHT so I can slap her !"

I love this comment! My daughters would agree."

I read the series first and have to say that I loved the books. Both my girls loved them also which I was very happy about because anything that gets my kids reading I am all for. Although I don't understand why you would go as far as to say you want to slap her. That seems a bit much to me. But, I also understand that we are all entitled to our opinions.

message 54: by Maria (new)

Maria | 25 comments Elizabeth Bennet of course! and Dumbledore from the Harry Potter books haha.

message 55: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne (a-town) | 17 comments I hated Bella she was a completely idiotic nincompoop who couldn't stand on her own without a boy or two there to help her. She's disgusting really and an insult to any and all high school girls who place any type of value on intelligence or independence. Sorry, I just had to rant a little bit.

A character I would love to meet would be Eowyn from LOTR. I would also love to meet Sam as well. Luna lovegood and Hermione from HP, and Richard from The Devil's Desciple would be fun to meet too.

message 56: by Milena (last edited Apr 02, 2010 06:20AM) (new)

Milena | 1 comments Rose Hathaway (Vampire Academy) - fun, fearless female

message 57: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird
Anita Blake from Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Series
Everyone from Harry Botter
Myron Bolitar and Win from Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar series
Elena From Kelley Armstrong's Women Of The Otherworld series
Otto and Axel Lidenbrock from Journey to the Centre of the Earth
Precious Ramotswe from The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency
^^That's all I can think of right now. They're some of my favourite characters.

message 58: by Suze (new)

Suze (suzed) | 69 comments Sarah wrote: "Claire and Jamie Fraser from the Outlander books would be awesome people to have in a community."

Sarah, that was the first thought that popped into my mind, too! You get to know them so well though the 'Outlander' series that you feel as if you know them well. OK, that's just me....

I also like Skeeter and Minnie from 'The Help'.

message 60: by Caitlyn (new)

Caitlyn (quietcait) | 115 comments Chloe Carter from the Gourmet Girl Mystery Series.

I would also love to know Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice.

I really do love "feminist" characters and books, but I am no way a femenist in real life haha!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments hmmmmmmmmmmm.... lets see.....

Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird
Colonel Brandon from Sense and Sensibility

Mary (marycrissy) | 18 comments Adrienne wrote: "I hated Bella she was a completely idiotic nincompoop who couldn't stand on her own without a boy or two there to help her. She's disgusting really and an insult to any and all high school girls wh..."
Love the word nincompoop! Haven't seen that in a long time:) Loved the Twilight series; and yes, Bella was not a shining example of independent young women. She was kind of a throw-back to the days when girls "mooned" over boys and there was nothing else to do but have drama over the male species, don't you think?

message 70: by Mary (new)

Mary (marycrissy) | 18 comments Let's see. I would love to meet "Hawk" from the Spenser Series by Parker..

message 71: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlebooknerd) | 212 comments Oh, and how could I forget?! Harry Potter and his gang!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments Brenda wrote: "Kat wrote: "hmmmmmmmmmmm.... lets see.....

And who would not want Jackie to be their best friend.
VILLAGE OF SYCAMORE by MARIA RIHTE

Megan M | 267 comments T.C. wrote: "Pippi Longstocking and Harriet M. Welsch (Harriet the Spy) - for starters.

Also Skeeter, Aibileen, Minny and Mae Mobley from THE HELP.

And too many others to list!"

So funny. Harriet the Spy was my favorite book growing up. I just purchased it for my niece. Good answer.

message 75: by Ally (new)

Ally (goodreadscomuser_allhug) Jeeves and Wooster from P.G. Wodehouse - what a hoot they would be!

Luna Lovegood! I forgot to mention her. I love her! My favorite HP character.

message 77: by Jena (new)

Jena (outlanderfan74) (Apologies if I misspell character names. Most of the books i read are audible.)

I would like to have Jamie Fraiser from Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, living in my town. I'd love to know what he'd make of 2010.

But as a neighbor/friend, I'd like to have Celie from Alice Walker's "The Color Purple." She went through a lot of difficulty in her life, but she learned to love herself in the end. That takes courage and wisdom, so I think she'd make a great friend.

I also like Abileen from "The Help," for much the same reason.

message 78: by Regine (new)

Regine Mr. Darcy. I'd break up with my soon-to-be fiance, charm the pants off of Mr. Darcy, and become the Mistress of Pemberley.

Haha. Seriously though... I would love to hang out with the Harry Potter kids, and get into mischief with them.

message 79: by Sue (new)

Sue V.I. Warshawski from the Sara Paretsky series.

message 80: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Shimotakahara (lshimo) I would love befriend Lily Bart in The House of Mirth (and take her under my wing, remaking her tragic life); Peter Walsh inMrs. Dalloway would be fun to flirt with; and I absolutely agree with what have said about Mr. Darcy!

message 81: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 9 comments I would love to have Albus Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series as my teacher or neighbor...kind of like a Mr. Feeny from Boy Meets World type mentor. Imagine the things he would teach you!

message 82: by Ann (new)

Ann (ravynn2020) Right now I would say Lord Henry from A Picture of Dorian Gray. I would love to have a conversation with that man!

message 83: by Regine (new)

Regine I agree. Lord Henry is quite the character! So is Dumbledore.

message 84: by Meg (new)

Meg Clayton (megwaiteclayton) | 129 comments Thinking, with tomorrow being the 50th anniversary of the publication of To Kill a Mockingbird, that I'd really like to meet Scout, Dill, Jem and Atticus.

Elizabeth (Alaska) I agree, Meg. It was wanting to meet Atticus that prompted this thread. The world could use a few Atticus Finch in every town.

My latest character I'd like as a friend is Tessa Lynch from Bridge of Sighs by Richard Russo. She was the mother of the main character, full of spit and vinegar and common sense.

message 86: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Meg - great job on your reflections on the anniversary of the book. AOL Opinions: http://www.aolnews.com/opinion/articl...

We are proud little chicks!

message 87: by Emily (new)

Emily (emily_meek) I would love to meet Stargirl she seems like such an amazing person!
Also, John Tyree from Dear John
Holden Caufield from The Catcher in the Rye.

Britt, I agree with you about the Boatwright sisters for neighbors!

And, to be quite honest, I'd love to meet Winnie the Pooh.

message 88: by Heather (new)

Heather (heatherb) | 145 comments I love to meet and hang out with calla Lily from Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder, Leisel from The Book Thief and of course Enzo from The Art of Racing in the Rain.

On you made me think of Arya from ]A Game of Thrones What a cool little woman. Also Vin from Mistborn: The Final Empire

message 90: by Tera, First Chick (new)

Tera | 2564 comments Mod
I loved the Mockingbird gang but I think Calpurnia would be the one I'd like to know.

Other's I'd like to know Stephanie Plum's Grandma because I always need a laugh.

Tink from Peter Pan.

Lee from East of Eden.

message 91: by Em (new)

Em (emmap) I actually wanted to BE Tinkerbell! Really, I day-dreamed that alot when I was little...

message 92: by Jane (new)

Jane (shoxford) | 39 comments I'd love to meet Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights, actually I'd love to be Mrs Heathcliff...

I'd also like to meet Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple from the Agatha Christie books

Elizabeth (Alaska) Hercule Poirot would be sooo annoying, but having a famous detective around would be fun.

message 94: by Karen (new)

Karen (karenf) | 41 comments Skeeter and Abeliene from The Help
Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird
Katniss from The Hunger Games

message 95: by Scout (new)

I'd also like to have a sit-down with Stephanie's Gradma Mazur. What a hoot she is! And Calpurnia, well, she walked that fine line between being a servant and a mother to Scout and Jem, while raising her own family. What was that like for her?

message 96: by Sonja (new)

Sonja (crvena_sonja) | 305 comments I agree about Arya from A Game of Thrones and also Jon!

message 97: by Stacy (new)

Stacy (sjhensley) | 101 comments I really enjoy John Corey (ex NYPD, now working for anti-terrorism agency) from some of Nelson DeMille's books. He is so funny and inappropriate!

The only bad thing about being around him, is that my chances of being part of the body count would be too high to risk!

message 98: by Irene (new)

Irene Hollimon | 28 comments I read so many Star Trek books when I was younger, that universe took on a reality for me so definitely the characters from Star Trek. Also, the vampires from Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. All her male leads are so hot.

message 99: by Marialyce (last edited Jul 25, 2010 07:48AM) (new)
