I just read... And it was...
Carrie (Care) wrote: "I read Spiders Revenge and it was great! I really love Gin and she seems more human in this one."Glad you liked it some of the other readers where telling me it was like a recap book.
^^ What, seriously? I really don't understand that at all. It is a game changer. I finished
and I was really impressed seeing as I knew nothing about this book before a friend reviewed it and said it "is the love child of the Vampire Academy and The Hunger Games". After I saw her high review of it I grabbed it and started reading it. I can see how there are comparisons to both series, but really it is quite different than both. It might be a bit closer to VA, because of the vamps and the girls training (oh and hot teacher love, lol), but that is where the similarities end. I really liked Drew the protagonist. She was not physically strong, but she had an iron will and was clever.
I just finished reading
it was really good it is the second book in the devouring series and it reminded me of my child hood reading Goosebumps and watching " Are You Afraird of the Dark?" it was the perfect October read and I have the last book Fearscape ready to go.
I finished reding The Amulet of Samarkand. It was a bit long, but the story flowed well. The writing was excellant.
I finished
last night and I absolutely loved it!!! One of my favourites from J.R.!! I can't wait to see what happens next in the series!
I finished
and
on the weekend. I love Anne Stuart and I loved that she wrote another book for the Ice series. I am also loving the Morganville vampires and can't wait to read more.
Jessica, I have that Ice book ready to read. I am hoping to get to it this week or next, so I am glad to hear it was good.
I finally finished At Grave's End it was pretty good although I felt like there was so much build up and then the show down took place in a couple of paragraphs. It felt rushed to me I also getting a little bored with Cat and Bones sex life at first it was intresting the way they went at each other but I think im getting used to it.
I finished reading The Hob's Bargain and enjoyed the story. One of Patricia Briggs' earlier writings.
Chakara wrote: "I finally finished At Grave's End it was pretty good although I felt like there was so much build up and then the show down took place in a couple of paragraphs. I'm debating if I'm done with the series. I loved the first two books, liked the third and fourth, and was "eh" on the fifth. I still haven't picked up the most recent NH.
Mark me down for another person who wasn't impressed with the last two Cat and Bones books. I will keep reading, but not buying them anymore and not rushing to read them on release day.
It took me a long time to get to This Side of the Grave...and still have not started the 6th.....just have not been very impressed with the last couple of books....will be holding off on buying in the future and check out the books/audio's from the library....
yeah i have the 4th and 5th but im kinda not rushing either.plus i feel like the series is getting way to long. I bought TSOTG thinking it was the last one now there is another one out and another spin off series coming. smh
I finished reading Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast. It was a good easy read. In the retelling of a fairy tale, the tale becomes a story. The characters are more dimensional and have more depth. 'Beauty' wasn't a boring long book, though there was some filler.
I just finished
today. What a great book! It was even better then book 1. If you are a fan of western historical romance this one is for you!
Finished
which was pretty awesome. I'll have a review posted later. Also finished
a bit ago and love it!! Finally another decent male author in the UF genre.Probably will start up on
.
Carrie wrote "I will have to look into that Paula. I enjoy fairy tale retellings."I also liked East. The story is a mixed of the Ice Queen and Beauty and the Beast.
I gave up on
the age difference between the 12 year old and her 5,000/16 year old love interest was just too big an obstacle for me to overcome (as well as her obnoxiousness). My friend, who finished the book, says that it gets worse--much worse--as far as the romance aspect of it goes from the point that I left off at so it was best the book and I parted ways. Shame, I really like the concept of the books and the mythology.
I forgot to say that I finished
. I really liked it. The only reason I didn't 5 star it was because Theia drove me nuts being stupid sometimes. It was really twisted and weird though. And it went crazy in the last 1/3 of the book. I was mildly interested for the first 50 pages or so of (the ebook so maybe 80 in the actual book), but then I got sucked right in.
Darcy wrote: "I am glad that you liked that one Carrie, I dnf'ed it."I didn't think you would like it because you didn't like Nevermore. They kind of have the same vibe.
I just read
Dude, y'all. I love this series. The past couple of ones hadn't been quite up to par, but if Nora Roberts follows every minor slump with a book like NY to Dallas? Worth. IT.
I think I'm still back on number 3. I need to get back into those Tya. I figured I'd just use them to fill in here and there, but then forgot to fill in with them.
Oh ya, just finished
.
Horrible cover, btw. It was cute, same as all of her books. Some good jokes, and lovable characters. I love the premise of falling for the presidents daughter. Talk about being screwed...

@ Tya - That was a great In Death book. I couldn't believe all that Eve found out and what she had to deal with.@ Heather - I read that one in the last week too. It was cute and I did like the whole president's daughter thing. Do you think the other daughter will find a vampire?
Carrie (Care) wrote: "Why does it not have In Death in the title?"If you have read the series you know Dallas has more meaning that just her name. It is where a pivotal event happened in her life and this books deals with a lot of that.
Because its a special departure from the rest of the series. Dallas goes back to Dallas and is forced to deal with her childhood traumas.
I finished
over the weekend. I really enjoyed the book but it was definitely different. I wasn't too sure about the hero until the very end.
I finished Wings to the Kingdom. Well written book, but sometimes getting from point A to point B took forever.
I just read
, it was okay. Lots of relationship angst in the beginning which I'm 50/50 with. I'll read other stuff by this author but not right now.
I finished Teen Idol Maybe I would have liked it better if I had read it instead of listened to it because I *hated* the narrator. Elisabeth Moss did a terrible job. Every single character sounded the same; male or female. She did absolutely nothing to differentiate between thoughts and dialog and the girl who's POV the book was told from constantly broke away from the narrative to have l-o-n-g internal monolog which if the narrator differentiated it wouldn't be a big deal but half the time I had no idea. Jenny issn't likeable. She is a complete Mary Sue (her one "flaw" being that shes too nice but even that has its perks, oh! and she can't dance.) You spend the entire book being told how amazing (there's even a chapter or two spent dwelling on her being "awesomesauce") she is. Jenny is constantly saying "no no, I'm not that great!" except for when she's having an epiphany of yes, YES she IS that great (she solves EVERY SINGLE problem. All! By! Herself! She even writes the school advice column to solve even more peoples problems!) Chock full of false modesty this chick. Every single plot point of the book was predictable. Every couple ends up with exactly who you think they will end up (even when the author is trying to be subtle about it). This was so a 1 star read for me. I should have stopped listening to it (I will never watch anything ANYTHING Elisabeth Moss in it.) But it wasn't very well written to begin with. I kept hoping for something to happen to Jenny that would force her into having a growing experience or something. But no.
I just finished
and
Both of them where okay books they were put downable but I will prob check out the rest of the series when I get board. The ideas in both are cool but the characters not so much esp. Sabina I think she is one of the dumbest main characters besides Megan Chase who I have had the displeasure of being in their heads. if you get what Im trying to say.
I just finished
I didn't like it quite as much as I liked Anna and the French Kiss but it was still really good. Really sweet. I liked it more once Cricket became more of a factor.(view spoiler)

the last in the series. I think that I'll like it better if I get a chance to read all three in the trilogy back to back. My one annoyance with the book is that things picked up EXACTLY where they left off...but I haven't read book 2 since it was first released over a year ago. I had the basic gist of what was going on but the action in book 2 is HEAVILY referred to repeatedly without ever being rehashed AT ALL. So, unless you have book 2 handy or a really good memory you spend a good chunk of book 3 lost. And I think that I'll have to read all three again before I can decide what I think of the curve ball Jessica Verday through for the ending. I don't see any other way for the series to end but I don't really like the way it ended either.
Thanks for the info on that In Death book. It seemed weird to me. So lately I have read
which I really liked but it wasn't my favourite in the series. A step up from Bite Club though.
which was ok to like, I think the third was my favourite so far. This one was pretty boring.
which was so awesome, it was full of crazy drama so if you don't like characters acting crazy dramatic, then don't read it. It had a very unhealthy relationship in it, but you know those books where you give up everything to try to finish them? This was one of those books, I could not put it down. If you don't recognize the cover, you might recognize the old one (the one I have)
.I also read
which was a lighter, YA contemporary romance. Finished
yesterday. It took me a long time to get into this book because I couldn't relate to Saba. She started to grow on me though, and the book got more interesting.
I recently read
a great read especially if you are a Riley Jensen fan, and
a great start to a new series.

Darcy, if you know it's something huge and I don't post it as a new release, hit me over the head with something because that means I wasn't paying attention to when things came out. ;)
